Under the Tuscan sun - A romantic cliché to learn that romance doesn't give you happiness [ENG/ESP]

Under the Tuscan Sun is a romance from 2003, and as a romance, is full of cliché, and I don't mean it in a bad way, not all movies need to be incredibly complex with a lot of cliff hangers, we have a very stressful life and the comfort of a Sunday movie is very welcome. But if we are already watching a romantic movie, we might as well learn that a romatic relationship is not "the" happy ending, it's just a part of it.

So many times a movie ends with marriage as the best that could happen but see here how after ten years that "happy marriage" came to an end and was the sad and traumatic beginning of our protagonist's path to discover her true happiness

This movie starts with a writer named Frances bottoming out as a woman, she finds out thanks to a writer who is angry because of her criticism of his book that her husband is cheating. During the marriage, she supported him financially, so he got alimony, and they had joint assets, the man got half of her house and alimony of more of two hundred thousand dollars in one payment, even when he cheated, the anger she felt, and the sadness, was perfectly understandable.

Esta película comienza con una escritora llamada Frances que toca fondo como mujer, descubre gracias a un escritor enfadado por sus críticas a su libro que su marido la engaña. Frances was in doubt about going to Italy but after hearing that speech again but now with her included, she decided to go.
Once there, different signals lead her to buy a house. The name of the house was "Bramasole" yearning for the sun, there were so many sunflowers involved, I saw the movie again to remember the details and that's why my mom loved that movie too, she loves everything with sunflowers haha. The aesthetic itself makes the movie very romantic, even with all the troubles it irradiates the energy of a happy ending that I definitely felt and want.

Frances tenía dudas sobre si ir a Italia, pero después de volver a escuchar ese discurso, pero ahora con ella incluida, decidió ir.
Una vez allí, diferentes señales la llevaron a comprar una casa. El nombre de la casa era "Bramasole" anhelando el sol, había tantos girasoles al rededor, volví a ver la película para recordar los detalles y por eso a mi mamá también le encantó esa película cuando la vimos antes, le encanta todo lo que tenga girasoles jaja. La estética en sí hace que la película sea muy romántica, aún con todos los problemas irradia la energía de un final feliz que definitivamente sentí y quiero.

Buying a house was such an impulsive action but one that set the right path for her, even when she still felt like something was wrong. But everything has to be okay because she had "il segno di Dio" (a pigeon shat on her and it was a sign of God, that's how she got to buy the house, just watch it haha) the friend who gave her the travel was very surprised but ended un supporting her.

Comprar una casa fue una acción tan impulsiva pero que marcó el camino correcto para ella, incluso cuando todavía sentía que algo estaba mal. Pero todo tiene que estar bien porque tuvo "il segno di Dio" (una paloma se cagó en ella y fue una señal de Dios, así es como consiguió comprar la casa, sólo vayan a ver jaja) la amiga que le dio el viaje estaba muy sorprendida pero terminó apoyándola.

Once she gets to stay in the house is obvious that the repairs need to be done immediately, that's why she star's looking for a contractor. She found a flirty one and a couple of crazy ones until she meets the crew of Polish that won her heart, this crew includes, besides the contractor, a young man, a former literature teacher and I'm not sure about the last one because he never talks. They all treat the house as their own and suddenly they become more of a family than workers.

Una vez que se empieza a quedar en la casa es obvio que las reparaciones deben hacerse de inmediato, es por eso que ella comienza a buscar un contratista. Encontró uno coqueto y un par de locos hasta que conoce a la cuadrilla de polacos que se ganó su corazón, esta cuadrilla incluye, además del contratista, a un joven, un ex profesor de literatura y no estoy segura del último porque nunca habla. Todos tratan la casa como si fuera suya y de repente se convierten más en una familia que en trabajadores.

Her journey while the reformation of the house includes getting to meet the neighbors and learning from them because she now has olive plants and a lot of other vegetables to take care of; she also gets to know the family dynamic of Italy, which is very different from American families, she becomes friend with a very peculiar woman named Katherine who teaches her about life and love with a lot of quotes from Fellini, Katherine is quite crazy but her fearless attitude inspires Frances to take actions that otherwise she wouldn't.

Su travesía mientras dura la reforma de la casa incluye conocer a los vecinos y aprender de ellos porque ahora tiene plantas de olivo y un montón de otros vegetales que cuidar; también llega a conocer la dinámica familiar de Italia, que es muy diferente de las familias americanas, se hace amiga de una mujer muy peculiar llamada Katherine que le enseña sobre la vida y el amor con un montón de citas de Fellini, Katherine está bastante loca pero su actitud intrépida inspira a Frances a tomar acciones que de otra manera no haría.

Even though the renovations were going well, she started that journey because of a romantic failure, after ten years of marriage, she didn't know if she will be able to fall in love again, but she wanted it, she told it to a man who was her friend, he's the agent from the Inmobiliaria who sold the house to her, she said she wanted that house but that was a house too big for a life that she doesn't have, she wanted people to cook for so she uses the kitchen, she wanted a wedding, she wanted a family for the many rooms she had... this is when that friend told her something important, and is the best quote for me, there are so many quotes with a lot of wisdom, but this was the one that spoke louder to me:

"They say they built the train tracks over the Alps before there was a train that could make the trip. They built it anyway. They knew one day the train would come"

A pesar de que las reformas iban bien, ella empezó ese camino por un fracaso amoroso, después de diez años de matrimonio, no sabía si sería capaz de volver a enamorarse, pero lo quería, se lo dijo a un hombre que era su amigo, es el agente de la Inmobiliaria que le vendió la casa, le dijo que quería esa casa pero que era una casa demasiado grande para una vida que no tiene, quería gente para la cual cocinar y usar la cocina, quería una boda, quería una familia para las muchas habitaciones que tenía... aquí es cuando ese amigo le dijo algo importante, y es la mejor cita para mi, hay muchas citas con mucha sabiduría, pero esta fue la que me habló más fuerte:

"Se dice que hicieron las vías entre Viena y Venecia sobre los Alpes antes de que existiera el tren que las usaría, y aún así las construyeron, sabrían que algún día vendría el tren"

I have left out all the romance because that is something you will have to see in the movie, the romance itself is not much special as there are a thousand and one movies about it; what is special about it in Under the Tuscan Sun, is that she does not get her happy ending with the first man who makes her feel wanted again and even loved, he had another teaching for her; she gets love in someone else later after she has discovered that she has everything she once wished for: a bunch of friends to cook for, a family in her friend with her newborn daughter, a wedding of her young friend and worker taking place in her house, everything she wished for, and so she learns that her happiness is not in a man but in life and that she would only be happy with a partner when that person was there to share her happiness and not to be the cause of it.

He dejado de lado todo el romance porque eso es algo que tendrán que ver en la película, el romance en sí no tiene mucho de especial pues hay mil y un películas sobre ello; lo que es especial acerca de ello en Bajo el sol de la Toscana, es que ella no obtiene su final feliz con el primer hombre que la hace sentir de nuevo deseada e incluso querida, ese tuvo otra enseñanza para ella; ella consigue el amor en otra persona después, después de que ha descubierto que tiene todo lo que una vez deseó: un montón de amigos a quienes cocinar, una familia en su amiga con su hija recién nacida, una boda de su joven amigo y trabajador que se celebra en su casa, todo lo que deseó, y así aprende que su felicidad no está en un hombre sino en la vida, y que solo sería feliz con una pareja cuando esa persona estuviera allí para compartir su felicidad y no para ser la causa de ella.

Toda su aventura comprando y reconstruyendo "Bramasole" fueron las vías de un tren que aún no existía, pero finalmente, el tren llegó y tuvo un lugar para él. A veces queremos tener algo pero no tenemos como recibirlo, no puedo tener un depósito en mi cuenta si no tengo una cuenta, lo mismo con el amor, no puedes tener amor si no hay lugar en tu corazón para él, y así sucesivamente, esta metáfora funciona para todo lo que quieras conseguir.
