¡Hola a todos! Mientras acompañaba al mimado de mi gato (me despierta a las 6 am para que le haga compañía), aproveché de buscar que película podía ver antes de iniciar la preparación del desayuno. Buscando en el servicio de streaming que tengo disponible, me encontré con una película francesa bastante interesante y de la que nunca había oído hablar antes. Los diseños de personajes y su historia surrealista, me animaron a darle una oportunidad y debo admitir, que no me arrepiento de haberla visto. Con decirles que sólo iba a ver una parte y acabé viéndola completa je je pero déjenme que les explique de que va, a ver si se animan a checarla.

Searching the streaming service that I have available, I came across a rather interesting French film that I had never heard of before. The character designs and their surreal story encouraged me to give it a try and I must admit, I don't regret seeing it. By telling them that I was only going to see a part and I ended up seeing it in full, hehe, but let me explain what it is going to do, to see if they dare to check it out.
Todo comienza con una mujer a punto de dar a luz, caminando bajo la nieve. El frío es tan intenso que todo se congela a su paso, hasta las lagrimas de los ojos de la mujer llegan a congelarse. Cuando ésta llega al tope de la colina, se resbala y cae a la puerta de la casa se Madeleine, una mujer a la que todo el mundo tilda de loca y bruja. Madeleine atiende a la embarazada y ante su condición, la ayuda con el alumbramiento. Pero hay un problema... el frío intenso afectó al bebé recién nacido, más específicamente su corazón. Es entonces cuando Madeleine, que es aparte de partera, una ingeniosa inventora, decide operar al pequeño y hacerle un trasplante de corazón. Sin embargo, tras retirar el corazón completamente congelado, lo que coloca en el pecho del niño, no es otra cosa que un reloj cucú, acomodado de manera que cumpla las funciones del órgano que se le fue retirado.

It is then that Madeleine, who is apart from being a midwife, an ingenious inventor, decides to operate on the little boy and do a heart transplant. However, after removing the completely frozen heart, which it places on the child's chest, it is nothing more than a cuckoo clock, arranged so that it fulfills the functions of the organ that was removed.
Ya con esto, el niño parece estar fuera de peligro. Mientras dormían, la madre del bebé decide dejarle la custodia a Madeleine, sintiendo en su corazón que ella será mejor madre que ella, puesto que había visto en la mujer un gran pesar mientras cargaba a su niño recién nacido. De esta forma, Jack (que es el nombre del niño), acaba viviendo con la ágil Madeleine, quién se entrega en su papel de madre, protegiendo al chico hasta el punto de no dejarlo salir de casa. The woman at all times reminds Jack of the rules that he must never forget: 1) He must not manipulate the hands of the clock, 2) He must not be carried away by anger and 3) Never, under any reason, he must fall in love. This frustrates the boy, who must live with the delicate mechanism of the clock without being allowed to do something exciting.
Por esa razón, Jack se emociona el día de su cumpleaños, pues Madeleine le había prometido que lo llevaría a conocer al pueblo. La mujer hace lo posible por posponer la salida, temerosa. Pero el chico es insistente. Quiere conocer aquel mundo que se ha estado perdiendo. Una vez en las calles, Madeleine le recuerda al niño las normas. Pero, hay una regla que preocupa a la mujer más que todas. Esa es la tercera, la concerniente al amor. Ella sabe que aquel sentimiento, tan fuerte, lleno de euforia, celos y en ocasiones dolor, es demasiado fuerte como para que el delicado mecanismo del corazón/reloj pueda soportarlo. Así que hace lo posible por alejar a Jack de todas las jovencitas que se les acercan.

Desperate Madeleine, manages to find the boy lying on the ground. He goes to his aid and tells Acacia to stay away from his son. That meeting, so magical and unfortunate, is the beginning of a sad love story.
Desde su encuentro con Acacia, Jack no deja de pensar en ella. Cuando se entera a cual colegio asiste la chica, Jack le pide encarecidamente a su madre que lo deja asistir a la escuela. Madeleine se niega rotundamente, explicándole al chico que puede leer y aprender lo que quiera en casa, pero, ante la insistencia de su hijo, termina cediendo a su petición. Es así como Jack acaba yendo a la escuela, sin embargo, en lugar de reencontrarse con Acacia, se encuentra con la terrible noticia de que ella se ha ido muy lejos y conoce a Joe, otro joven que está enamorado de la chica. Luego de años de abuso, Jack termina explotando contra su abusador y en la riña, acaba por dañarle un ojo a su rival. Es así como madre e hijo se tienen que separar abruptamente y el viaje de Jack comienza.

Luego de varias cosas que me voy a saltar para no hacer el cuento muy largo, Jack acaba llegando a un circo de freaks ambulante en donde está trabajando... nada más y nada menos que su querida Acacia. Jack no sabe que hacer, queda perplejo ante las jugarretas del destino. Lamentablemente, Acacia no parece reconocerlo, por lo que el chico empieza a trabajar en el circo para así estar cerca de la chica, la única que puede tener la llave de su corazón.
After several things that I am going to skip so as not to make a long story short, Jack ends up arriving at a traveling circus of freaks where he is working ... nothing more and nothing less than his beloved Acacia. Jack does not know what to do, he is perplexed by the tricks of fate. Unfortunately, Acacia does not seem to recognize him, so the boy starts working at the circus in order to be close to the girl, the only one who can hold the key to his heart.
Es sencillamente, un deleite visual. El diseño de los personajes es muy lindo, sobre todo los ojos, lo que más me agradó del filme. Hay un gran despliegue de canciones, así que no sabría si catalogarlo como un musical, pero, la música juega un papel muy marcado en la serie. No es para nada cliché ni mucho menos predecible. Desde que comienza hasta que termina, no sabes que será de los personajes y eso, es lo que hace a la historia bastante disfrutable. Se las recomiendo de todo corazón. Con éste tipo de películas me doy más y más cuenta de que, hay muchos filmes hermosos que pasan desapercibidos entre tantas películas con más presupuesto o con una casa productora famosa detrás. Sin duda, me animaré a darle la oportunidad a películas sin importar cómo se vean los posters, porque, muchas veces no vemos el árbol por andar pendiente del bosque.
