The Night of the Living Dead phenomenon began in the form of a low-budget independent production by unknown director George A. Romero and grew into a cult classic that brought huge profits and defined a subgenre of horror film starring zombies.

It received a number of film sequels signed by Romero. The main characters, zombies, have become a central cultural (and political) reference. Among the many interpretations of zombies, the one that says that zombies serve as metaphors of popular masses without class consciousness, inhuman drive, consumer mania, prevailed.

Plot:
Barbara and Johnnie Blair, sister and brother, visit their father’s grave in a rural cemetery. Johnnie joked that his sister would be attacked by evil spirits. Soon they are really being chased around the cemetery by the living dead - half-rotten corpses who have lost all the intellectual abilities of a human being and are driven by human flesh, trapped between life and death, exclusively for human flesh. Johnnie is killed, and a mad Barbara takes refuge with Ben on a neighboring farm, which Ben protects from aggressive invaders. There, other frightened and stunned residents are already licking their wounds, among them parents with a daughter suffering from a zombie bite, and a teenage couple. They all panic together looking for a solution to survive.
