El terror no es lo mío pero... | Horror is not my thing but....
Hola a todos viajeros, volvemos con un post un poco fuera de lo habitual pero igual de entretenido; espero que disfruten mucho de esta travesía hoy viajaremos por el lúgubre y fascinante mundo de los films de terror conocidos y veremos el que para mí ha sido el mejor de los últimos años, espero disfrutes de esta lectura, vamos con ello.
El cine del terror no es precisamente lo mío, cuando era más joven había películas que me llegaron a causar miedo, pero con el paso del tiempo ese miedo se iba transformando en impresión por lo absurdo de algunas películas; algunas incluso grandes clásicos.
No considero al cine del terror entre mis favoritos, aunque hay excepciones a la regla; he visto películas de terror que no solo me han parecido geniales si no que están entre mis favoritas de toda la vida; Alien el Octavo Pasajero, Hellraiser (la primera película), Los Otros, La Masacre de Texas, El Resplandor son algunas de las películas que me han sacado algún susto o han hecho que se me detenga el corazón por un milisegundo.
Sin embargo hubo una película que hasta hace no mucho logró hacerme sentir nuevamente esa sensación de miedo o susto que hace mucho creí haber perdido entre tantas películas de "terror" del montón; hoy quiero hablarles de Midsommar.

Horror films are not exactly my thing, when I was younger there were films that caused me fear, but over time that fear was transformed into impression by the absurdity of some films; some even great classics.
I don't consider horror movies among my favorites, although there are exceptions to the rule; I have seen horror movies that not only seemed great to me but are among my all-time favorites; Alien the Eighth Passenger, Hellraiser (the first movie), The Others, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The shining are some of the movies that have scared the hell out of me or made my heart stop for a millisecond.
However, there was a movie that not long ago managed to make me feel again that feeling of fear or fright that I thought I had lost a long time ago among so many "horror" movies; today I want to talk about Midsommar.

Es difícil para mí decidir cuál es la mejor película de Terror que he visto en mi vida pero si puedo decir cuál es para mí la mejor de estos últimos años, concretamente esta última década .
Midsommar es una película que a nivel de terror se sale totalmente de lo común, su historia es cliché, pero a la vez muy original, creo que el mayor valor narrativo y fílmico que tiene esta película más que su historia (que es bastante buena mas no una obra magna) es su atmosfera, su ambientación y el tono tan grotesco, pero a la vez hermoso de su apartado visual.
Nunca pensarías que esta película es una de terror, y menos una tan grafica como esta, lo cual lo hace más crudo y en mi opinión grotesco; estamos acostumbrados que cuando pensamos en el cine de terror de inmediato se nos viene a la mente una atmosfera oscura, lúgubre y sombría.
Midsommar es todo lo contrario es colorida, vistosa y "alegre" y creo que por ello es mucho más macabra y mórbida, haré un pequeño resumen de su historia a continuación.
It is difficult for me to decide which is the best horror movie I have seen in my life but I can say which is for me the best of these last years, specifically this last decade.
Midsommar is a horror film that is totally out of the ordinary, its story is cliché but at the same time very original, I think the greatest narrative and filmic value that this film has more than its story (which is pretty good but not a masterpiece) is its atmosphere, its setting and the grotesque tone, but at the same time beautiful of its visual section.
You would never think that this film is a horror film, let alone one as graphic as this one, which makes it even more raw and in my opinion grotesque; we are used to the fact that when we think of horror films a dark, gloomy and somber atmosphere immediately comes to mind.
Midsommar is the opposite, it is colorful, colorful and "cheerful" and I think that is why it is much more macabre and morbid, I will make a brief summary of its history below.

Christian tenía un viaje planeado a Suecia con sus amigos a una localidad rural de la cual uno de los amigos de Christian forma parte y es este amigo llamado Pelle quien los invita a dicho lugar, específicamente a un festival que se celebra cada noventa años. Christian no le había hablado a Dani del viaje razón por la que discuten, eso y porque la relación se ha ido enfriando con el tiempo sin embargo Chris aún sigue sin poder romper con Dani debido a su situación, todo el asunto hace que Chris termine invitando a Dani a dicho festival.

Christian had a trip planned to Sweden with his friends to a rural town of which one of Christian's friends is a part and it is this friend named Pelle who invites them to this place, specifically to a festival that is celebrated every ninety years. Christian had not told Dani about the trip, reason why they argue, that and because the relationship has been cooling over time, however Chris still cannot break up with Dani because of his situation, the whole thing makes Chris ends up inviting Dani to the festival.

Chris junto a su novia Dani y sus amigos viajan a Suecia guiados por Pelle el amigo de Chris quien los invitó a todos al festival guiándolos cual flautista de Hamelin, se hospedan en un granero y Pelle les enseña a sus amigos de las tradiciones que hay en dicha localidad y a prepararse para el festival el cual lleva el nombre de la película.
el ambiente en primera instancia se ve muy atractivo, una hermosa campiña verde cuyos habitantes se ven amigables y muy agradables, un dato curioso es que en este lugar la noche solo dura un periodo máximo de dos horas, haciendo que la luz del sol reine en el sitio casi de forma perenne.
En su estadía en el lugar los amigos van descubriendo cosas muy turbias y extrañas sobre los habitantes; sacrificios humanos, rituales muy extraños y comienzan a asustarse, sin embargo, deciden quedarse y continuar con su estancia salvo por algunos otros visitantes que conocieron en el lugar que perturbados por la forma de vivir de aquellas personas comienzan a marcharse o eso creíamos...
El grupo empieza a participar en las actividades de la extraña comunidad y poco a poco y atontados por la cantidad de psicotrópicos que van ingiriendo en el festival empiezan a desaparecer uno a uno, siendo cruelmente asesinados por los residentes pues es parte de la tradición de la festividad.
Para este punto Chris y Dani son los únicos que sobreviven por los momentos y a partir de este punto las cosas se ponen aún más turbias y perturbadoras; Dani participa en uno de los rituales en los que consistía en bailar bajo la influencia de sustancias hasta el cansancio junto con otras jóvenes y ella al ser la única que queda en pie es coronada la reina del festival, Chris por su parte y en complicidad de los habitantes deja embarazada a una lugareña, Dani se entera de esto y rompe en un llanto de locura y frustración.
Parece que todo lo sucedió era parte de la festividad de aquel sitio y Dani al ser coronada la reina del festival debe decidir el ultimo sacrificio del mismo, envuelta en una prisión de flores muy colorida escoge como último sacrificio a Chris quien muere de una manera muy terrible, mientras muere Dani sonríe, no sabemos si por despecho o producto de alguna sustancia o simplemente locura, dando fin al festival del Midsommar y a una de las películas más perturbadoras que he visto en los últimos años.

During their stay in the place, the friends discover very shady and strange things about the inhabitants; human sacrifices, very strange rituals and begin to get scared, however they decide to stay and continue with their stay except for some other visitors they met in the place that disturbed by the way of living of those people begin to leave or so we thought?
The group begins to participate in the activities of the strange community and little by little and stunned by the amount of psychotropic drugs they are ingesting at the festival they begin to disappear one by one, being cruelly killed by the residents as it is part of the tradition of the festival.
At this point Chris and Dani are the only ones who survive for the moment and from this point on things get even more disturbing and disturbing; Dani participates in one of the rituals which consisted of dancing under the influence of substances until exhaustion along with other young women and she being the only one left standing is crowned the queen of the festival, Chris for his part and in complicity of the inhabitants leaves a local pregnant, Dani learns of this and breaks into a cry of madness and frustration.

Desde mi perspectiva | From my perspective
Midsommar es una película fuera de lo común, cargada de simbolismos y extrañas metáforas que estaría bueno analizar con dedicación especial en algún momento.
Creo que de cierta forma la película nos habla sobre la soledad, la dependencia emocional, la locura y la alienación, una forma un tanto rara y macabra de celebrar la vida y por supuesto la muerte como parte del ciclo sin fin en el que nos encontramos cautivos. No es solo terror por asustar (que vaya que lo tiene) No quiero dar detalles de cómo son las muertes o lo que ocurre con sus personajes porque creo que el chiste de estas películas es que lo experimentes tú mismo.
Sin dudas me ha sorprendido mucho esta cinta y cada vez que la veo más me gusta, es de esas películas que mejoran con el tiempo, quizás porque cuando la vi por primera vez, al ser una película de terror no esperaba mucho de ella y la verdad me ha sorprendido gratamente, la mejor película de terror que he visto últimamente.

Midsommar is an unusual film, full of symbolism and strange metaphors that it would be good to analyze with special dedication at some point.
I think that in a way the film speaks to us about loneliness, emotional dependence, madness and alienation, a somewhat strange and macabre way of celebrating life and of course death as part of the endless cycle in which we find ourselves captive. It's not just horror for the sake of being scary (which it is). I don't want to give details of what the deaths are like or what happens to the characters because I think the joke of these movies is that you have to experience it for yourself.
Without a doubt I was very surprised by this film and every time I see it I like it more, it is one of those movies that get better with time, maybe because when I saw it for the first time, being a horror movie I did not expect much from it and the truth is that I was pleasantly surprised, the best horror movie I've seen lately.
