I saw this movie a few months ago and I don't know why I hadn't written about it if I liked it so much. I smile as soon as I see Ahmed and if you see this movie you will understand why. L'ascension in English translated as "The Ascent" is a French movie that tells the adventure of a young man in love who did the unimaginable to win the heart of the girl he loved.
Plot
Samy Diakhaté is a young man of Senegalese origin from the Cité des 4000 in La Courneuve. Like many of his friends, he is unemployed but wants to get out of it. Since middle school, he has been in love with Nadia, an employee of the neighborhood supermarket. He tries to win her with his kindness, but she resists him, for fear of loving a frivolous boy who will disappoint her. Samy tells her that out of love for her, he would climb Mount Everest, but Nadia takes this as a joke. Source

This movie based on a true story will make you empathize with the characters so much that you will feel the joy, fear, and anticipation as if it happened in real life. I don't know much about the true story that inspired it, but I think this guy definitely must have made an impression on the girl and took the love he felt to a very high level literally and metaphorically speaking. Good thing Netflix recommended it to me again so I remembered I hadn't shared this gem of a movie with you.

Vi esta película hace unos meses y no sé por qué no había escrito sobre ella si me gustó tanto. Sonrío en cuanto veo Ahmed y si ves esta película entenderás por qué. L'ascension en español traducida como "El ascenso" es una película francesa que cuenta la aventura de un joven enamorado que hizo lo inimaginable para ganar el corazón de la chica que amaba.
Samy Diakhaté es un joven de origen senegalés de la Cité des 4000 de La Courneuve. Como muchos de sus amigos, está en el paro pero quiere salir de él. Desde la escuela secundaria, está enamorado de Nadia, una empleada del supermercado del barrio. Intenta conquistarla con su amabilidad, pero ella se resiste, por miedo a amar a un chico frívolo que la decepcione. Samy le dice que, por amor a ella, escalaría el Monte Everest, pero Nadia se lo toma a broma. Fuente

Esta película basada en una historia real te hará empatizar tanto con los personajes que sentirás la alegría, el miedo y la expectación como si ocurriera en la vida real. No sé mucho sobre la historia real que la inspiró, pero creo que este chico definitivamente debió impresionar a la chica y llevó el amor que sentía a un nivel muy alto literal y metafóricamente hablando. Menos mal que Netflix me la volvió a recomendar y así recordé que no había compartido esta joya de película con vosotros.
