Hello! It has been a while since I, @namiks, showed a sign of life here on the Movies & TV Shows Community account. For the last few months, the Community itself has been powered by the hard efforts of both @jcrodriguez and @macchiata. These two have been handling pretty much everything: searching for content, curating it, as well as compiling reports on the Community regarding the top posts and distributing earnings among the many deserving members. Thanks to them, the Community has been capable of flourishing while I finished my studies and then took a break.
Now that I have returned, there's certainly a lot more that could be done for everyone. There's an additional pair of hands and (hopefully) an additional brain that could be used to ensure growth is constant and people are happy. However, this is where you all come in! A decentralised platform thrives on contributions from everyone, and we wouldn't be decentralised if people didn't get a chance to voice their thoughts and ideas.
So, going forward, I shall be writing and posting these feedback posts in which the Community visit, read, and discuss such thoughts and ideas. For example, we used to conduct frequent contests here, in which we'd allocate a certain amount of Hive as rewards to a group of people we considered to be winners in the chosen subject.
Contests
Due to OCD Community Incubation rules, funding contests is a bit more difficult; prior to this rule, we used posts to collect Hive and grow this account and fund such contests. While the rule is something that is fair and understandable, it has led to the decline in contests.
I, personally, would love to find a way to continue the contests and fund them, and the best way to do so would be to provide the winnings via post rewards rather than liquid Hive or HBD. Instead of, for example:
- 1st place: 10 Hive
- 2nd place: 5 Hive
- 3rd place: 3 Hive
We could pursue a direction where the following would take place instead:
- 1st place: 50% post reward
- 2nd place 25% post reward
- 3rd place: 10% post reward
This does, sadly, mean that such rewards are not fixed. Your rewards are dependent on the post rewards after 7 days, they could be high or could be low. Let us know if this is something you'd welcome, and we'll take things from there. We certainly miss the life that hits the Community and Discord server during contests.
Community Content
In addition to contests, I'd love to search for ways to add to content that is posted here on the @moviesonhive account. Hive is a platform that thrives on creativity and interaction, so our possibilities are near endless. This means supporting and rewarding content with viewership and money.
A recent, and excellent idea of which I've wanted to pursue here for a long time now, is a Community Podcast. Members @bigcarrillo and @jcrodriguez have taken to creating their own, which you can find the latest addition of by clicking this very long link. Please do check it out and support them. Hopefully, we can get such initiatives up here and create a Hub for discussions and creative pursuits.
If you run any contests on your own and fund them, let us know, we'll support them to the best we can with curation and reports that share rewards. We can even share them in the Discord server to make more people aware of them. Therefore, if you're not in the Discord server yet, join us!
