El mundo del entretenimiento asiático es de gran calibre, mayormente conocido por su calidad de historias para el género del terror, y aunque especialmente los k-dramas de Corea giran en torno al romance, no solo este es su gran fuerte. Últimamente se le ha dado más reconocimiento y respeto a la televisión coreana, por el popular drama El juego del calamar, que aun con semanas de haber sido estrenado se sigue posicionando en el top de Netflix. Gracias a esto la atención a sus programas se ha vuelto más generalizada y espero de corazón que las personas aprecien la diversidad del mundillo cinematográfico asiático.

Lately Korean TV has been given more recognition and respect, for the popular drama The Squid Game, which even with weeks of being released is still ranking in the top of Netflix. Thanks to this, attention to their programs has become more widespread and I sincerely hope that people will appreciate the diversity of the Asian film world.

Para esta ocasión no hablaré del exitoso programa, creo que ya todos han leído o escuchado sobre él, y pocos serán los que aún no lo ven, sorprendentemente soy una de ellas. Pero la razón es que tengo una especial lista de dramas con prioridad de atención, porque me gustan todos los géneros de los doramas, y salto de uno a otro a la medida de lo que el tiempo me permite. Y mi último drama que me ha mantenido con un ojo puesto en la computadora mientras hago los quehaceres es RUGAL.

For this occasion I won't talk about the hit show, I think everyone has already read or heard about it, and few will be the ones who still don't watch it, surprisingly I am one of them. But the reason is that I have a special list of dramas with priority of attention, because I like all genres of doramas, and I jump from one to another as time allows me. And my latest drama that has kept me with one eye on the computer while doing chores is RUGAL.

Estrenado ya hace un año y basado en el webtoon del mismo nombre, Rugal cuenta la historia de un policía de alto rango que en su intento por destruir una organización criminal termina perdiendo la vista de una manera sufrible y los sucesos le persiguen al ser acusado del asesinato de su esposa. La verdad me sorprendió que Netflix lo siguiera ofreciendo en su plataforma, tienden a sacar de programación excelentes series, y aunque Rugal me gustó no sé si aún lo merezca.

Soy fan de los dramas surcoreanos, si te desvías por géneros que no sean de romance tiendes a encontrar magnificas joyas que te mantienen atento durante su transmisión. Rugal es sin duda uno de ellos, podría decir que roza un poco lo trillado de su género, habrá situaciones que son predecibles, sin embargo es salvada por varios elementos, su creatividad, sus escenas sin censura, y la alta calidad de actuación de su protagonista.

I'm a fan of South Korean dramas, if you stray into non-romance genres you tend to find magnificent gems that keep you attentive during its transmission. Rugal is undoubtedly one of them, I could say that it borders a bit on the trite of its genre, there will be situations that are predictable, however it is saved by several elements, its creativity, its uncensored scenes, and the high quality acting of its protagonist.

El primer capítulo transcurre con lentitud, y pasan demasiadas cosas en poco tiempo, a pesar de que dura 76 minutos, pero el enganche que me gustó fueron las crudas escenas sangrientas, asesinatos, peleas, sangre, disparos, todo en gran medida. La historia gira entorno a la búsqueda de justicia y la venganza total. El grupo protagonista con grandes habilidades biotecnológicas y sumamente atractivos destacan durante toda la producción con sus puestas en escena y la eficacia de pelea que nos obsequian, dejando evidencia de que entrenaron bastante para rendir con honor. The starring cast with great biotech skills and extremely attractive characters stand out throughout the production with their staging and fighting efficiency, showing evidence that they trained hard to perform with honor. Actor Choi Jin-hyuk, whom I have had the pleasure of seeing in other dramas, maintained the high level of acting I am used to, that charisma, manly voice and excellence in his roles make him one of my favorites.

La serie de 16 episodios contó con personajes secundarios que tuvieron sus buenos momentos, y una conexión entre su pasado y su presente que mantuvo a flote todo, pero creo que el guion no sacó tanto provecho como pudieron haber logrado. La historia puede volverse tediosa, y la trama bastante imaginable, sin embargo lograron mantener la atención lo necesario como para llegar a su gran final. En lo personal me gustaron las interpretaciones de Park Sung-woong y Jo Dong-hyuk, el asesino despiadado y el líder indiferente me sacaron varios gestos de aceptación. ¿Lo disfruté tanto como pensaba? Quizás no, pero me reí y lloré un poco, creo que eso es suficiente para guardarlo en un rincón de mi corazón.

The 16-episode series had supporting characters that had their good moments, and a connection between their past and present that kept everything afloat, but I think the script didn't get as much out of it as they could have. The story can get tedious, and the plot quite conceivable, but they managed to keep your attention long enough to get to the big finale. Personally I liked the performances of Park Sung-woong and Jo Dong-hyuk, the ruthless killer and the indifferent leader brought out several gestures of acceptance. Did I enjoy it as much as I thought I would? Maybe not, but I laughed and cried a little, I think that's enough to keep it in a corner of my heart.
