Hello once again friends of Hive, this time I would like to share with you a new and short review of the South Korean Dorama series, The King: Eternal Monarch, this in order to encourage you to watch and enjoy much more of this genre that is always telling authentic, exciting and funny stories. I will also be leaving the names of the pages, or apps where you can go to see it.

Let's start at the beginning.

What is our story about?

The King: Eternal Monarch is a series mainly focused on the theme of parallel worlds or universes, historical drama,
romance and science fiction. Starring Lee Min Ho, a South Korean actor who is well known internationally for starring roles such as Gu Jun Pyo in the drama Boys Over Flowers, which left a mark on our hearts.

The story revolves around Lee Gon, the protagonist of our series, who is the emperor of the Kingdom of Korea in the current era. After witnessing at the age of eight the death of his father, the former king, killed by his treacherous brother, the imperial prince; Gon's destiny was to die at the hands of his uncle as well, but just when he is about to take his last breath, he is somehow saved by a mysterious man who leaves an unidentified object in the boy's possession.

It is a police card belonging to Jeong Tae Eul, from the Republic of Korea and dated 2019, which will be relevant to the story.

It should be noted that the night when Lee Gon almost died and his father was killed, takes place in 1994.

Time goes by and our eight year old boy who was about to die strangled, is now an adult and has taken his father's place as exemplary King of the Kingdom of Korea; whose man who horran, likes to make secret excursions around the Kingdom and by fate or coincidence, in one of those many walks our King comes across a kind of portal that turns out to be the entrance to the other world.

The so strange Republic of Korea, a version of his Kingdom in which there is no monarchy. And it turns out to be the world of that girl he is looking for, named Jeong Tae Eul.

Realizing that he is in an unknown place very similar to his world, Lee Gon begins to wander the streets of the city of Seoul riding his white horse, while he realizes that the ancient legend and the theory of universes, which he had studied so much, is true in the end.

Unexpectedly, he meets Jeong Tae Eul, a police officer of the Republic of Korea and owner of that license he has had since he was eight years old, who arrests him for breaking several laws. Lee Gon tries to explain the situation to the girl, while she refuses to believe him and tries to find out who he really is, and why there is no record of him being a Korean citizen.

Although it seems it's all part of a destiny.

The two will plunge into an impossible romance that will break the rules of the universe, as they discover what really happened the night of the betrayal, and try to save the world from an unexpected evil. For the King's uncle and accused traitor Lee Lim, turned out to be alive all these years, planning something big and keeping the same face as 25 years ago, when he stole half of the key that opens the gates to the other world.

Why do I recommend it?

It was a drama that I finished watching in less than two days, the story was quite addictive and entertaining; in my opinion all the characters are quite well developed and it's hard not to empathize with them.

At first you might think it's the typical story of Prince Charming and the girl who must be saved, but no. Our protagonist is quite smart, brave, independent and tough; someone who can hardly go unnoticed, the performance of the South Korean actress Kim Go Eun was excellent, her interpretation of two identical characters physically, but totally different in terms of their personalities, was quite brilliant.

Another character that I would like to highlight and that I consider to be one of my favorites, was definitely the one played by the South Korean actor, Woo Do Hwan, there is no doubt that he is an excellent actor, who has always done a good job in the series in which I have seen him; but in The King: Eternal Monarch, he stood out and was the one who gave us that bit of comedy in the drama.

His interpretation of two people the same, but at the same time different was one of the best in the whole series, he showed how charming he can be and I think I could watch it again more than twice, just to enjoy his work. Well seriously hard to believe they are the same person.

In conclusion, I consider the King: Eternal Monarch, a good enough series that we can enjoy with those we love. There will be no lack of tension and laughter, and it will be hard to tear yourself away from the screen.
