Desde cortometrajes, cine independiente, cine popular y las nominaciones dentro de los premios Óscar, de todo un poco me gusta ver, aunque sea algo exigente en cuanto a la historia porque si una película no me atrapa en la primera media hora, simplemente la descarto y busca alguna otra.
Puede sonar poco lógico, pero con cada película que he visto, se ha construido algún tipo de radar que me ayuda a identificar el contenido que a mí me gusta consumir, pero eso no quiere decir que esté cerrada a nuevas recomendaciones. Nunca me ha gustado ser de aquellas personas que suelen llamarse "cinefilas" y terminan casándose con un solo género, aun teniendo demasiados peces en el río X(.
Siempre busco formas distintas para buscar opciones de películas al usar una plataforma de entretenimiento como Netflix o Prime Video:
- Le doy una oportunidad a la lista de popularidad del mes donde siempre las enumeran del 1 al 10 o dependiendo de las vistas, eso me ayuda a entender un poco sobre el tipo de cine que se consume actualmente aunque con esta práctica me ha llenado de bastantes decepciones.
- Comienzo a ver las opciones por letra del abecedario, con esta opción he tenido demasiadas sorpresas en cuanto ha contenido de cine, es como buscar cobre y encontrar oro.
- Por fecha de lanzamiento o incorporación a las plataformas tanto populares como no populares, esta dinámica es de mis favoritas, ya que me da material demasiado contrastante en cuanto a historias, fotografía, dirección, nacionalidad y sinfonía. Puedo iniciar viendo una película de 2020 y terminar con una película de 1983.
En fin, esta es una pequeña introducción sobre mi dinámica para sumergirme en el mundo del cine y basado en ello es como saldrán las opciones para mis reseñas y puntos de vista que escribiré en esta plataforma y compartirla en esta comunidad, espero les guste :3.
Hablemos sobre "Exorcismo en el séptimo día"
La historia gira en torno al personaje secundario, Peter, un exorcista que aparenta tener demasiados años de experiencia dentro del mundo de lo paranormal, tuvo un terrible inicio como sacerdote primerizo al ayudar en el caso de un niño poseído por un ente demasiado poderoso. Fue testigo de la muerte de su jefe directo para esa misión, lo cual le dejo un muy mal sabor de boca.
El personaje principal, Daniel, está en búsqueda de nuevas experiencias dentro de su camino para forjarse como sacerdote, lo asignan para ser compañero del ahora padre Peter, ambos tratan de construir una buena relación de confianza para llevar su trabajo de la mejor manera. El padre Peter tiene la obligación y la responsabilidad de pulir las habilidades de Daniel, Sacar su mayor potencial y aportar cosas importantes en la labor que ambos tienen.
Dentro de la primera hora, se desarrolla una historia curiosa e interesante, nos muestran las adversidades que el padre Peter tuvo que pasar en su iniciación como sacerdote y después la habilidad de colocar a Daniel dentro de una confrontación con un indigente que pareciera normal, pero en realidad solo es un cuerpo perteneciente a un demonio de rango bajo que llego a adaptarse en la sociedad para pasar desapercibido dentro del radar de la iglesia católica.
Esta parte si me sorprendió, ya que la suposición sobre entes demoniacos adaptándose al comportamiento humano era muy fuera de lo común a los clichés que estamos acostumbrados dentro del género de terror y más dentro de la clasificación de exorcismos. Fue ahí donde no perdía las esperanzas de que fuera una buena película y le tenía demasiada fe a la idea que en ese momento me intentaba mostrar.
Pero la segunda hora siguiente que se puede considerar como el auge de la historia se tornó demasiado aburrida y hasta tediosa, todo giraba en torno a la explicación de cada segundo que transcurría en la historia, ¿Por qué?, ¿Cómo?, ¿Cuándo? Y ¿Dónde?
Le trataban de encontrar mucho más significado a lo que ya era obvio, querían retroceder sus antecedentes históricos mucho más de lo necesario, yo sentía que solo buscaban la manera de hacer tiempo para completar esas dos horas que duran las películas XD
La historia principal se enfocaba en el caso de un niño que aparentemente asesino a sus padres con un hacha y sería juzgado como un homicida para darle sentencia en un juzgado. Notaron que ese caso era algo injusto, ya que la edad del niño no correspondía al comportamiento brutal que presentaba y lo llevaría a cometer asesinato.
Dentro de las opciones que tenían para dirigir su destino era: el que tenga problemas mentales o que un ente maligno tuviera el control. Ambas opciones a mi parecer tienen su lado bueno y verdadero, pero al mismo tiempo son muy parecidas, ya que dentro de la sociedad ambas teorías siguen siendo tomadas como "fantasiosas".
Tanto el padre Peter como el sacerdote Daniel, se comprometen a averiguar la verdad tras este caso y obviamente descubrirán que un ente anónimo tiene bajo su poder la voluntad del niño. Así que en toda esa hora es cuando se enfocan en teorizar las posibilidades para poder dar con el origen de aquella maldad que esta detrás de esa alma inocente. Me canso la manera en como relataban los hechos y se sentía que la historia no avanzaba.
Tenía muy pocos momentos de suspenso o terror, parecía más una plática sobre porque el malo es malo y el bueno, bueno; porque la iglesia tiene el poder en el tema paranormal y su impacto a nivel político :/
Si nos ponemos a investigar un poco al respecto, nos encontraremos con demasiada información que nos va a recalcar todo lo que conlleva a temas conspiraciones al respecto y si, no negare que es un buen tema y si se realiza como debe ser, daría para un buen contenido cinematográfico como en el caso de la película "Los dos Papas", pero este caso es completamente lo opuesto, invaden de más la historia y opacan el terror en esto.
Después llega el momento crucial de la última media hora donde "OH SORPRESA" dentro de la sesión exorcista con el niño se revela al fin la verdad tras esta historia y no negaré que fue muy reveladora, pero por el simple hecho de hacerme esperar con el método incorrecto, ¡¡¡me decepciono bastante que dicha revelación solo le dieran esa media hora para su desarrollo!!!
Tuvieron la oportunidad de impacto y no la supieron aprovechar :X me quede con ese vacío de insatisfacción, con ese amor-odio sobre lo que vi, plantaron mi curiosidad al inicio para después arrancarla de raíz... Otra oportunidad desperdiciada para trascender en el cine de terror.
No quiero dar más detalles sobre la conclusión, ya que las personas que estén leyendo este post puedan darse la oportunidad de ver la película y crear su propio punto de vista al respecto. La podrán encontrar dentro de la plataforma de Amazon Prime Video.

From short films, independent cinema, popular cinema and Oscar nominations, I like to see a little bit of everything, even if I am a little picky about the story because if a film doesn't grab me in the first half hour, I simply discard it and look for another one.
It may sound illogical, but with every movie I've seen, some kind of radar has been built that helps me identify the content I like to consume, but that doesn't mean I'm closed to new recommendations. I've never liked being one of those people who tend to call themselves "cinephiles " and end up marrying one genre, even if they have too many fish in the river X(.
I'm always looking for different ways to search for movie options when using an entertainment platform like Netflix or Prime Video:
- I give a chance to the popularity list of the month where they always list them from 1 to 10 or depending on the views, that helps me to understand a little bit about the type of cinema that is currently consumed although with this practice I have been filled with quite a few disappointments.
- I start to see the options by letter of the alphabet, with this option I have had too many surprises in terms of movie content, it is like looking for copper and finding gold.
- By release date or addition to both popular and non-popular platforms, this dynamic is one of my favorites, as it gives me too much contrasting material in terms of stories, cinematography, direction, nationality and symphony. I can start by watching a film from 2020 and end with a film from 1983.
Anyway, this is a little introduction about my dynamic to immerse myself in the world of cinema and based on that is how I will choose the options for my reviews and points of view that I will write in this platform and share it in this community, I hope you like it :3.
Let's talk about "Exorcism on the seventh day".
The story revolves around the secondary character, Peter, an exorcist who seems to have too many years of experience in the world of the paranormal, had a terrible start as a first-time priest to help in the case of a child possessed by a too powerful entity. He witnessed the death of his direct boss for that mission, which left a very bad taste in his mouth.
The main character, Daniel, is in search of new experiences in his path to forge as a priest, he is assigned to be a companion of the now Father Peter, both try to build a good relationship of trust to carry their work in the best way. Father Peter has the obligation and responsibility to polish Daniel's skills, to bring out his greatest potential and to contribute important things in the work they both have.
Within the first hour, a curious and interesting story unfolds, we are shown the adversities that Father Peter had to go through in his initiation as a priest and then the ability to place Daniel in a confrontation with a homeless man who seems normal, but in reality is only a body belonging to a demon of low rank that came to adapt in society to go unnoticed within the radar of the Catholic Church.
This part surprised me, since the assumption about demonic entities adapting to human behavior was very out of the ordinary to the clichés we are used to within the horror genre and more within the classification of exorcisms. It was there where I didn't lose hope that it would be a good movie and I had too much faith in the idea that at that moment it was trying to show me.
But the following second hour, which can be considered as the peak of the story, became too boring and even tedious, everything revolved around the explanation of every second that passed in the story, Why, How, When, When, And Where? And where?
They were trying to find much more meaning to what was already obvious, they wanted to go back to their historical background much more than necessary, I felt they were just looking for a way to make time to complete those two hours that the movies last XD
The main story focused on the case of a boy who apparently murdered his parents with an axe and would be tried as a murderer to be sentenced in a court of law. They noted that this case was somewhat unfair, as the child's age did not correspond to the brutal behavior that would lead him to commit murder.
Among the options they had to direct his destiny was: that he had mental problems or that an evil entity was in control. Both options in my opinion have their good and true side, but at the same time they are very similar, since within society both theories are still taken as "fantasies".
Both Father Peter and the priest Daniel, are committed to find out the truth behind this case and obviously discover that an anonymous entity has under his power the will of the child.
So in that whole hour is when they focus on theorizing the possibilities to find the origin of the evil that is behind that innocent soul. I got tired of the way the events were told and it felt like the story didn't move forward. It had very few moments of suspense or terror, it seemed more like a talk about why the bad guy is bad and the good guy is good; why the church has the power in the paranormal issue and its impact at a political level :/
If we start to investigate a little about it, we will find too much information that will emphasize everything that leads to conspiracy issues in this regard and yes, I will not deny that it is a good topic and if done as it should be, it would give for a good film content as in the case of the film "The Two Popes", but this case is completely the opposite, they invade the story and overshadow the terror in this.
Then comes the crucial moment of the last half hour where "OH SURPRISE " within the exorcist session with the child the truth behind this story is finally revealed and I won't deny that it was very revealing, but for the simple fact of making me wait with the wrong method, I was quite disappointed that the revelation was only given that half hour for its development!!!!!
They had the opportunity to make an impact and they didn't know how to take advantage of it :X I was left with that void of dissatisfaction, with that love-hate about what I saw, they planted my curiosity at the beginning and then pulled it out by the roots... Another wasted opportunity to transcend in horror cinema.
I don't want to give more details about the conclusion, since people who are reading this post can give themselves the opportunity to watch the movie and create their own point of view about it. You will be able to find it within the Amazon Prime Video platform.
