¡Damas y caballeros, he vuelto! Otro lunes, otra película por revisar.
Tras un par de semanas de reposo, he logrado ponerme al día con las películas y animes que quise ver, así que aquí vamos...
Nunca había visto una película del Studio Ghibli, no había tenido la oportunidad de gozarme sus películas y me alegra tanto esperar porque estoy segura que el impacto emocional no habría sido el mismo.
Decidí comenzar por la que veía más triste, debo decir que elegí muy bien porque lloré a mares con la película.
Por si lo olvidaron, no soy experta en cine, animación o música, sólo disfruto las películas.
Siempre son bien recibidos sus comentarios para mejorar.

Movie Monday #11
Ladies and gentlemen, I'm back! Another Monday, another movie.
After a couple of weeks of rest, I've managed to catch up on the movies and anime I've been meaning to watch, so here we go....
I had never seen a Studio Ghibli movie, I hadn't had the chance to enjoy their films and I'm so glad I waited because I'm sure the emotional impact wouldn't have been the same.
I decided to start with the saddest, I must say I chose very well cause I cried my eyes out with the movie.
In case you forgot, I'm not an expert on movies, animation or music, I just enjoy movies.

👀 | Mi punto de vista | My point of view | 👀
Me encanta el tipo de películas que van como en retrospectiva, o que dan primero el final de la misma. Es como un imán que atrapa mi atención.
Comienza en la estación de tren de Japón, después que terminó la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Seita, un niño indigente, muere por inanición. Un oficial de seguridad libera el espíritu de Seita y se encuentra con el de su pequeña hermana, Setsuko.
A partir de aquí, comienza a recordar todo lo que tuvo que pasar y vivir para llegar a ese punto de su vida.
La aviación estadounidense bombardea a las ciudades japonesas con continuos ataques aéreos, entre esas ciudades estaba Kobe, la ciudad donde viven nuestros protagonistas con su madre, mientras su padre -oficial de la Armada- esta en servicio.
Tras un bombardeo, son sorprendidos por un ataque aéreo y los niños no consiguen llegar al búnker donde su madre los espera.
Después de este, los dos hermanos buscan a su madre y Seita la encuentra malherida y con quemaduras en todo su cuerpo.
Poco tiempo después, su madre muere y ambos hermanos quedan a vivir en la casa de una tía, quien los recibe y procura ayudarlos.
Poco a poco, crecen los conflictos con su tía por su comportamiento tan despreocupado e indiferente ante la situación que están viviendo.
Los niños no se lo toman de la mejor manera y deciden irse para vivir por su cuenta en un refugio antiaéreo abandonado, esperando a que su padre vuelva de la guerra.
Al principio, pueden vivir sin preocupaciones ya que no generan incomodidad para nadie, pero las cosas no son como pensaban.
La comida escasea y no pueden esperar ningún tipo de ayuda, obligando a Seita a robar a los agricultores locales y saquear hogares durante los ataques aéreos. Lo peor es que esta situación afecta drásticamente a Setsuko, quien cada vez más presenta un estado de desnutrición severa.
Tristemente Seita se dirige al banco para retirar lo último que tenía su madre. Allí se entera que Japón decidió rendirse ante Estados Unidos, ninguna tropa sobrevivió, y por lo tanto, su padre ha fallecido.
Con el dinero, logra comprar comida y llegar a su refugio con Setsuko, quien está al borde de la muerte por desnutrición. Antes de que pueda terminar de preparar su comida, ella muere.
Finalmente, él mismo ve como el fuego consume el cuerpo del único familiar que tenía vivo y guarda sus cenizas en una lata de caramelos que los acompañó desde el principio de la película.
I love the kind of movies that go sort of in retrospect, or give the end of the movie first. It's like a magnet that grabs my attention.
The film begins at a train station in Japan, shortly after the end of World War II. Seita, a destitute child, dies of starvation at the station. A security officer releases Seita's spirit and meets that of his little sister, Setsuko.
From this point on, he begins to remember everything he had to go through to get to this point in his life.
The American aviation bombed Japanese cities with continuous air raids, among those cities was Kobe, the city where our protagonists live with their mother, while their father -Navy officer- is in service.
After a bombing, they are surprised by an air raid and the children don't manage to reach the bunker where their mother is waiting for them.
After this, the two brothers search for their mother and Seita finds her badly wounded and with burns all over her body.
Shortly after, their mother dies and both brothers are left to live in the house of an aunt, who takes them in and tries to help them in any way she can.
Little by little, conflicts grow with their aunt because she scolds them for their careless and indifferent behavior in the situation they are living in.
The children don't take it in the best way and decide to leave to live on their own in an abandoned air-raid shelter, waiting for their father to return from the war.
At first, they are able to live carefree as they don't create discomfort for anyone, but things are not as they thought.
Food is scarce and they cannot expect any help, forcing Seita to steal from local farmers and loot homes during air raids. Worst of all, this situation drastically affects Setsuko, who is becoming more and more severely malnourished.
Sadly Seita goes to the bank to withdraw the last of her mother's belongings. There she learns that Japan has decided to surrender to the United States, no troops survived, and therefore, her father has passed away.
With the money, he manages to buy food and get to his shelter with Setsuko, who is on the verge of death from malnutrition. Before he can finish preparing her food, she dies.
Finally, he himself sees how the fire consumes the body of the only relative he had alive and keeps his ashes in a candy can that accompanied them from the beginning of the film.
💭 | Reflexión | Reflection | 💭
No tengo palabras previas para lo que quiero analizar así que comenzaré de una vez con mi punto principal de reflexión.
La guerra no es un lugar para niños.
Creo que es más que obvio, pero es el primero porque quiero destacar cómo la película llevaba este tema. Ver la película y saber que realmente pasa así en la vida real es desgarradora.
La impotencia de Seita y la inocencia de Setsuko, son elementos que se funden con la desgarradora trama. Y ver su contraste con un grupo de niños que se acerca al refugio, es matador.
Durante la guerra, muchos perdieron sus hogares, sus familias, sus empleos, eran tiempos difíciles para todos los que intentaban sobrevivir.
Como dice un refrán de mi país, "nos arropamos hasta donde alcance la cobija". Es decir, nos ayudamos hasta donde podemos y es evidente que en esos tiempos no era fácil.
Por esto, entiendo la situación de la tía, dos personas más era complicado de alimentar y mantener bajo el mismo techo, pero no entiendo porque ser tan estricta o insensible ante lo que ellos están viviendo.

Sin embargo, tampoco las actitudes de nuestros protagonistas eran las mejores. En lugar de escuchar atentamente los consejos de los adultos, prefirieron hacer oídos sordos y sobrevivir por su cuenta.
Tal vez pudo ir mejor, pero fueron sus decisiones y la muerte no perdona a nadie.
I have no previous words for what I want to say so I will start at once with my main point of reflection.
War is not a place for children.
I think it is more than obvious, but it is the first one because I want to highlight how the movie carried this theme. Watching the movie and knowing that it really happens like this in real life is heartbreaking.
Seita's helplessness and Setsuko's innocence, are elements that meld with the heartbreaking plot. And to see their contrast with a group of children approaching the shelter is killer.
During the war, many lost their homes, their families, their jobs, it was a difficult time for everyone trying to survive.
As a saying from my country goes, "we tuck ourselves in as far as the blanket will cover us". That is to say, we help each other as far as we can and it is evident that in those times it was not easy.
Therefore, I understand the situation of the aunt, two more people was complicated to feed and keep under the same roof, but I do not understand why be so strict or insensitive to what they are living.

However, the attitudes of our protagonists were not the best either. Instead of listening carefully to the advice of the adults, they preferred to turn a deaf ear and survive on their own.
Perhaps it could have gone better, but it was their decisions and death forgives no one.

Amé de verdad esta película, desde la narración hasta la animación, el estilo sencillo pero bien cuidado es lo que hace la diferencia.
Son los pequeños detalles los que para mí diferencian una "Gran película" de una "Obra de arte" y esta película los logró.
Me quede pensando en escribir un post para ver todos los sentidos y significados de los elementos en la película, pero me da pena equivocarme con algo jeje.
La música bien acompañada por fondos maravillosos, permitían que me sumergiera completamente en la película.
Tendría el 10/10 si no me hubiera hecho llorar tanto, pero siento que es una película para ver ocasionalmente.
Como dije alguna vez, el 10 lo doy cuando no me cansaría de ver esa película...
En mi opinión, serán 9 puntos de 10.
I really loved this movie, from the narration to the animation, the simple but well cared style is what makes the difference.
It's the little details that for me differentiate a "Great movie" from a "Work of Art" and this movie achieved them.
I kept thinking of writing a post to see all the senses and meanings of the elements in the movie, but I'm sad to be wrong about something hehe.
The music well accompanied by wonderful backgrounds, allowed me to be completely immersed in the movie.
I would have the 10/10 if it hadn't made me cry so much, but I feel it's a movie to watch occasionally.
As I once said, I give the 10 when I wouldn't get tired of watching this movie....
In my opinion, it will be 9 points out of 10.
