Hola amigos de la comunidad cinéfila por excelencia, Acabo de ver ayer domingo, un filme del cual recibí una recomendación y me ha dejado impresionado. Debo comentar que es una película de Netflix, pero la vi en línea; así que hice los pendientes para dedicarle el tiempo necesario para ver los detalles, dado que me mi pana Danny me dijo que debía prestar suma atención con ella. Les cuento, su nombre es “Upgrade” y la traducen como “Máquina Asesina”, es del año 2018 y al protagonista (Logan Marshall-Green) lo he visto en otra película con un personaje algo similar. El director y escritor es el australiano Leigh Whannell; quien a su vez, también tiene su experiencia con filmes relacionados.

El contexto de la trama me ubica en una ciudad futurista, donde se emplea una tecnología avanzada, un joven común que trabaja de manera independiente (Grey) y tiene una bella esposa (Asha). Uno de sus clientes y amigos resulta ser una especie de genio de la invención (Eron). Y luego de tener un fatídico evento, lleno de violencia, pierde al amor de su vida y su capacidad física motriz, lo que significa un doble golpe sentimental y moral. Pero algo sucede, el muchacho científico sabe cómo ayudar a su amigo a salir de aquella tortura de no poder moverse y es con la implantación de un chip (su último invento), el cual tiene múltiples funciones. Y como fortaleza mencionaré el sonido que se colocó a los movimientos de Grey, aclarando que estos son realizador por STEM y no por él. (Eso fue magnífico).

Now, the greatest danger is that the order of things is reversed and we end up being controlled by one of these devices. To imagine this is abominable, that one has consciousness but no control of what one can do (something terrifying just to think about). This film achieved its purpose, I was entertained, I imagined that this could happen to someone and it led me to deduce the pros and cons of this type of practices. I definitely recommend it.

Imaginar esto es abominable, que uno tenga conciencia pero no control de lo que pueda hacer (algo aterrador de solo pensar). Esta película logró su cometido, me entretuve, imaginé que esto puede suceder a alguien y me llevó a deducir los pros y contras de este tipo de prácticas. Sin duda la recomiendo.
