Welcome my dear internet pig travelers and thank you very much for having made a temporary stop in my post, I set as a goal the fact of seeing all or almost all of Ghibli's animated films, since it is my favorite Japanese animation studio, the film that brings us together today is considered by some as one of the best they have ever made, that's why I couldn't resist watching "Porco Rosso" because it takes place in an interesting war context. Without further ado, get ready to pilot your hydrofoils, as we are about to begin.
Bienvenidos mis queridos viajeros cerdos del internet y muchas gracias por haber hecho una parada temporal en mi post, me propuse como meta el hecho de ver todas o casi todas las películas animadas de Ghibli, puesto que es mi estudio de animación japonés favorito, el filme que hoy nos reúne es considerada por algunos como una de las mejores que hayan hecho, es por ello que no pude resistirme a ver "Porco Rosso" debido a que se desarrolla en un contexto bélico interesante. Sin más que agregar prepárense para pilotear sus hidroplanos pues estamos por comenzar.
Porco Rosso was released in 1992, directed by Hayao Miyazaki and produced by Studio Ghibli, has a duration of 1 hour and 34 minutes. It is a fantasy and adventure animation, the story focuses on Porco Rosso, a former military pilot who fought during the first world war and after that, seeing many of his companions die, he decided to become a bounty hunter having to face air pirates, in turn, for some reason his appearance became that of a pig. Now his enemies are different air pirates that he constantly faces in the Adriatic Sea, however, this dynamic will change when these bandits decide to hire the services of an American adventurer to put an end to their existence.

Ahora sus enemigos son diferentes piratas aéreos a los que se enfrenta constantemente en el mar Adriático, sin embargo, esta dinámica cambiará cuando estos bandidos decidan contratar los servicios de un aventurero estadounidense para que le ponga fin a su existencia.

The animation is not surprising that it is extremely fluid and beautiful, as most of the scenes are developed in the air and surrounded by sea one would think that this could get boring but it manages to give life to these backgrounds with a beautiful amount of details, at the same time, it is also necessary to highlight the movement of the planes making them look extremely realistic.

The soundtrack stands out for being composed mostly of instrumental pieces as is customary in Ghibli films, there are moments when it is non-existent because it seeks to give way to ambient sounds or the sounds of planes and confrontations, which is a success since it allows the viewer to immerse themselves in these events.
La banda sonora destaca por estar compuesta mayormente por piezas instrumentales como es costumbre en los filmes de Ghibli, existen momentos en donde está es inexistente debido a que busca dar paso a los sonidos ambientales o a los sonidos de los aviones y de los enfrentamientos, lo que es un acierto puesto que permite al espectador sumergirse en dichos acontecimientos.
The construction of the world is well executed, it is a world highly influenced by aviators either because of their condition as military or outlaws, denoting how their society has things adapted to them. On the other hand, it proposes an Italy submerged in an economic crisis as a result of the war as well as a political crisis where the people are dissatisfied with the rulers, in turn, the strong presence and influence of fascism within the film is denoted being an element for which the protagonist feels rejection and that can generate pressure on him. All this gives us a context that conveys a state of crisis, dissatisfaction and shortages as a result of the war fought and the subsequent conflicts that ensued as a result of it.
La construcción de mundo está bien ejecutada, está plantea un mundo altamente influenciado por los aviadores bien sea por su condición de militares o de forajidos, denotándose como su sociedad tiene cosas adaptadas a estos. Por otro lado, plantea una Italia sumergida en una crisis económica producto de la guerra así como también una crisis política en donde el pueblo se encuentra descontento con los gobernantes, a su vez, se denota la fuerte presencia e influencia del fascismo dentro del filme siendo un elemento por el que el protagonista siente rechazo y que puede generar una presión sobre este. Todo esto nos da un contexto que transmite un estado de crisis, insatisfacción y carencias como resultado de la guerra luchada y los conflictos posteriores que se acarrearon producto de la misma.

The length of the film is perfect, it squeezes every minute so that each one has a considerable value within the film, it develops its different themes in an excellent way either directly or indirectly making that closure is achieved in a satisfactory way.
La trama se encuentra muy bien estructurada, a lo largo del filme se van aportando datos que van enriqueciendo tanto a la narrativa como a sus personajes, algo que permite entender diferentes elementos, es agradable que la fantasía, la comedia, la aventura y los enfrentamientos tengan un balance perfecto que permite que la cinta se desarrolle de forma perfecta. La película tiene en varias ocasiones momentos deprimentes que reflejan la desesperanza que mencioné previamente, esto lo hace mediante pequeños datos como la falta de hombres en un pueblo por falta de empleo y negocios al borde de la quiebra producto del estado del país, reflejando ese paralelismo bien logrado con lo sucedido en la vida real. La duración del filme es perfecta, esta exprime cada minuto para que cada uno tenga un valor considerable dentro de la cinta, desarrolla de excelente forma sus diferentes temas bien sea de forma directa o indirecta haciendo que ese cierre se consiga de forma satisfactoria.
The characters are very interesting, since either because of what they represent or because of their actions during the film, they contribute something to the plot, giving a general importance to all of them. The protagonist has many nuances that give him a certain degree of depth, within his layers there is a contempt for both fascism and the thing that his country has become, which is something totally different from what it was when he fought for it during the first world war, in turn, His participation in the war gives him a certain depressive air due to the loss of all his comrades, last but not least is his aspect which is what gives that fanciful character to the film which not only serves as a visual section but also as a psychological element and conditioning for the way in which he relates to the rest of the characters, All of the above makes him a complex and interesting character due to the different events he lived through and those he stars in.
Los personajes son muy interesantes, puesto que bien sea por lo que representan o por sus acciones durante el filme estos aportan algo a la trama dándoles una importancia general a todos estos. El protagonista tiene muchos matices que le dan cierto grado de profundidad, dentro de sus capas se tiene un desprecio tanto por el fascismo como por la cosa en que se ha convertido su país, el cual es algo totalmente diferente a lo que era cuando esté luchó por él durante la primera guerra mundial, a su vez, su participación en la guerra le da cierto aire depresivo por la pérdida de todos sus camaradas, por último pero no menos importante está su aspecto que es el que le da ese carácter fantasioso al filme el cual no solo funge como un apartado visual sino también como un elemento psicológico y condicionante para la forma en que este se relaciona con el resto de personajes, todo lo anterior hace que sea un personaje complejo e interesante por los diferentes sucesos que vivió y los que protagoniza.
Porco Rosso is a fairly mature film that subtly captures the different difficulties resulting from the war that was fought, all these consequences are treated with maturity and have a remarkable weight within the film, to the above is added the good way in which it develops its events and the way in which it characterizes its protagonist as well as the different characters that interact with him. It is for all of the above that it deserves 4.5 stars out of 7, it is truly one of the best films that Ghibli has produced, all thanks to its way of approaching the problems that arose after the war and its unforgettable protagonist.
Porco Rosso es un filme bastante maduro que plasma de forma sutil las diferentes dificultades producto de la guerra que se libró, todas estas consecuencias son tratadas con madurez y tienen un peso destacable dentro del filme, a lo anterior se suma la buena forma en que desarrolla sus acontecimientos y la forma en que caracteriza a su protagonista así como a los diferentes personajes que interactúan con este. Es por todo lo anterior que merece 4.5 estrellas de 7, verdaderamente es una de las mejores películas que ha producido Ghibli, todo gracias a su forma de enfocar los problemas surgidos post guerra y a su protagonista inolvidable.
