Welcome my dear spiritual travelers of the internet and thank you very much for having made a temporary stop in my post, I set myself the goal of watching and reviewing all the films that make up the Insidious saga, the film that brings us together today is the penultimate installment that has been released to date titled “Insidious: The Last Key” which brings us another confrontation against evil entities that only long to drag souls of the living to the afterlife. Without further ado, get ready to return to your childhood home, which we are about to begin.
Bienvenidos mis queridos viajeros espirituales del internet y muchas gracias por haber hecho una parada temporal en mi post, me puse como meta el hecho de ver y reseñar todas las películas que componen la saga Insidious, el filme que hoy nos reúne es la penúltima entrega que ha salido hasta la fecha titulada “Insidious: The Last Key” que nos trae otro enfrentamiento contra entes malignos que solo anhelan arrastrar almas de los vivos al más allá. Sin más que agregar prepárense para regresar a la casa de su infancia que estamos por comenzar.
Insidious: The Last Key was released in 2018, it is the fourth installment of the Insidious saga, it was directed by Adam Robitel and produced by Blumhouse Productions, it has a duration of 1 hour and 43 minutes. It is a supernatural horror and suspense film, the story tells us the life of a little Elise and the place where her childhood took place, the point is that her childhood in the Five Keys was not exactly pleasant because her father beat her every time he saw a spirit with his gift, and, furthermore, at that age he did not know how dangerous spirits could be and it is because of that inexperience that tragedies happen in his house. After years have passed, he receives a call from the new resident of his old home who is suffering the consequences of what he left loose in that place. As a result, he decides to return to that place and face the demons he thought he had left behind.
Insidious: The Last Key fue estrenada en 2018, es la cuarta entrega de la saga Insidious, fue dirigida por Adam Robitel y producida por Blumhouse Productions, cuenta con una duración de 1 hora y 43 minutos. Es un filme de terror sobrenatural y suspenso, la historia nos narra la vida de una pequeña Elise y en el lugar donde tuvo lugar su niñez, el asunto es que su infancia en la Five Keys no fue precisamente agradable debido a que su padre la golpeaba cada vez que veía algún espíritu con su don, siendo, además, que a esa edad no sabía lo peligrosos que podían ser los espíritus y es a causa de esa inexperiencia que suceden tragedias en su casa. Tras haber pasado los años recibe una llamada del nuevo residente de su antigua morada que se encuentra sufriendo las consecuencias de aquello que dejo suelto en ese lugar, a raíz de eso decide regresar a ese sitio y hacer frente a los demonios que creyó haber dejado atrás.

The soundtrack is exactly the same as in the rest of the installments, so I won't go on repeating the same thing, I will limit myself to saying that it is repetitive and lacking in personality.
La banda sonora es exactamente la misma que en el resto de entregas por lo que no me extenderé repitiendo lo mismo, me limitaré a decir que es repetitiva y carente de personalidad.
The world building remains static, despite being a new installment of the saga, it does not provide anything that expands its world in any way, the only thing it does is take what had already been established, denoting enormous creative laziness. Regarding the use of scenery to generate suspense, I have to say that this has been the worst so far because it only appeals to trying easy scares with screams and appearances of ghosts throughout the chamber without generating any kind of tension through shadows and the rest.
La construcción de mundo se mantiene estática, pese a ser una nueva entrega de la saga esta no aporta nada que expanda su mundo de alguna forma, lo único que hace es tomar lo que ya se había establecido denotándose una pereza creativa enorme. De cara al uso de la escenografía para generar suspenso he de decir que esta ha sido la peor hasta el momento debido a que solo apela a intentar sustos fáciles con gritos y apariciones de espectros en toda la cámara sin generar ninguna clase de tensión mediante sombras y demás.
The plot is too tedious, the vast majority of it feels copied from the previous installment because it has very few elements that make it stand out, added to this is the fact that it no longer even tries to be terrifying as I mentioned in the section above, only throws the entity in question in the face. The narrative of facing demons is already beginning to wear out due to the absence of weighty elements within it. Although it has approximately the same length as the rest of the installments, the fact that it only repeats the same thing as the others makes it feel unoriginal and boring to watch.
La trama es demasiado tediosa, la gran mayoría de esta se siente calcada de la entrega anterior debido a que tiene muy pocos elementos que la hagan destacar, a esto se le suma el hecho de que ya ni siquiera intenta ser aterradora como mencione en el apartado anterior, solo lanza a la cara el ente en cuestión. La narrativa de ir enfrentándose a demonios ya comienza a desgastarse debido a la ausencia de elementos de peso dentro de la misma. Si bien tiene aproximadamente la misma duración que el resto de entregas el hecho que solo repita lo mismo que las otras hace que se sienta poco original y sea aburrida de ver.
There is nothing new to highlight here, they are still exactly the same characters no matter how many horrible and inexplicable situations they face, broadly speaking this shows an apathy of the franchise to do something interesting with its characters beyond the fact of just being employees to advance the plot. Elise is the most disappointing, this is the second film that focuses on her and at no time is there any growth or change as a result of the constant confrontations against evil entities, in fact, during this installment a lot of emphasis is placed on the fact that he supposedly has traumas as a result of his difficult childhood but this feels very artificial as it has never been mentioned or even suggested in other installments, coupled with the fact that this pseudo trauma really only lasts long enough to be an artificial convenience. Elise's family and the rest of the characters are just cannon fodder and completely forgettable and inconsequential individuals.
No hay nada nuevo que destacar aquí, siguen siendo exactamente los mismos personajes no importa que tantas situaciones horribles e inexplicables enfrenten, a grandes rasgos esto demuestra una apatía de la franquicia por hacer algo de interés con sus personajes más allá del hecho de solo ser empleados para hacer avanzar la trama. Elise es lo más decepcionante, ya con esta es la segunda película que se centra en ella y en ningún momento se nota un crecimiento o cambio producto de los enfrentamientos constantes contra entes malignos, es más, durante esta entrega se hace mucho énfasis en el hecho de que supuestamente tiene traumas producto de su infancia difícil pero esto se siente muy artificial al nunca haber sido mencionado o siquiera sugerido en otras entregas, aunado a ello esta que realmente este pseudo trauma solo dura lo suficiente como para ser una conveniencia artificial. La familia de Elise y el resto de personajes solo son carne de cañón e individuos completamente olvidables e intrascendentes.
Insidious: The Last Key confirms my initial fear that the saga was only going to deteriorate by following the same scheme in each of its installments, the biggest sin of this film is that it lacks personality or something that makes it moderately interesting, characters that are still boring and an already worn-out premise that does not dare to include anything new. It is for all the above that it deserves 1.5 stars out of 7, it has the painful privilege of becoming the delivery with the lowest score so far, let's hope that the last film we have left is at least something more decent.
Insidious: The Last Key confirma mi temor inicial de que la saga solo iba a ir desmejorando al seguir el mismo esquema en cada una de sus entregas, el mayor pecado de esta cinta es que carece de personalidad o algo que la haga medianamente interesante, personajes que siguen siendo aburridos y una premisa ya gastada que no se anima a incluir nada nuevo. Es por todo lo anterior que merece 1.5 estrellas de 7, tiene el penoso privilegio de convertirse en la entrega con menor puntuación hasta el momento, esperemos que la última cinta que nos queda sea por lo menos algo más decente.
