Theodore Decker es un niño de 13 años que quedo sin madre en un atentado terrorista en el museo metropolitano de Nueva York, dejándole un peso enorme que carga aferradamente. Empieza a vivir con los padres de uno de sus mejores amigos hasta que llega su padre, un hombre que había desaparecido de su vida hace unos años, lo lleva a Las Vegas a vivir con él y su actual pareja, marcando otra etapa en la vida de Theodore al vivir con un padre alcohólico que tiene una relación con una vendedora de drogas.
Theodore Decker is a 13-year-old boy who was left without a mother in a terrorist attack at the Metropolitan Museum in New York, leaving him with an enormous weight that he carries. He begins to live with the parents of one of his best friends until his father arrives, a man who had disappeared from his life a few years ago, takes him to Las Vegas to live with him and his current partner, marking another stage in life of Theodore living with an alcoholic father who is in a relationship with a drug dealer.

El Jilguero es una película que salió en el 2019, desde entonces estaba en mi lista de espera para ver, no tenia grandes expectativas, solo me llamaba la atención y, menos mal no tenia las expectativas altas porque me fuese defraudado enormemente. Creo que es la mejor forma de ver algo, sin esperar mucho, si es buena te llevas una sorpresa, si es mala, no te llevas una decepción.
La película es bastante larga, dos horas y media, pensé que en ese tiempo darían a ver una historia muy compleja o que era tanta información que tuvieron que hacerla con esa duración, pero la verdad solo es un desperdicio del tiempo, se repiten algunas escenas del pasado, no se muestra tanto la adicción y el desespero del protagonista. Mientras la estaba viendo solo podía pensar que fuese sido mejor que hicieran una serie en ves de una película, con algunos capítulos tal vez tendrían más tiempo para explicar las cosas, para demostrar los traumas del protagonista y de su amor por una chica que no le corresponde.
Da muchos saltos en la historia, dejando que lo descifremos, pero en ves de ser llamativo es confuso, deja algunos huecos argumentativos, no esta bien explicado la razón de algunos personajes, en fin, solo está mal estructurado. Con una serie fuese sido otra cosa, se dejaría en una sola temporada, cada capitulo podría explicar algo de su trauma, del pasado, del presente, sin tener que hacer esos saltos confusos que no terminan encajando por donde lo veas.
Pero bueno, es solo mi opinión, pueden llegar a ver esta película y contarme que les pareció, pero siendo honesto, no se pierden demasiado, solo dos horas y media de su tiempo.
The Goldfinch is a movie that came out in 2019, since then it was on my waiting list to see, I did not have high expectations, it just caught my attention and, thankfully, I did not have high expectations because I was greatly disappointed. I think it is the best way to see something, without expecting too much, if it is good you get a surprise, if it is bad, you do not get disappointed.
The film is quite long, two and a half hours, I thought that at that time they would give us a very complex story or that it was so much information that they had to do it with that length, but the truth is only a waste of time, some scenes are repeated from the past, the addiction and despair of the protagonist is not shown so much. While I was watching it, I could only think that it would be better if they made a series instead of a movie, with some chapters perhaps they would have more time to explain things, to demonstrate the traumas of the protagonist and his love for a girl who does not corresponds.
It makes many leaps in the story, letting us decipher it, but instead of being striking it is confusing, it leaves some argumentative gaps, the reason for some characters is not well explained, in short, it is only poorly structured. With a series being something else, it would be left in a single season, each episode could explain something of his trauma, of the past, of the present, without having to make those confusing jumps that do not end up fitting where you see it.
But hey, it's just my opinion, you can get to see this movie and tell me what you think, but to be honest, you don't lose too much, just two and a half hours of your time.
