Actor Andrea Di Stefano made his feature directorial debut in 2014 with the film Escobar: Paradise Lost. It was a film with a fictional plot, in which a boy who is involved in sruf, travels to Colombia and falls in love with a niece of Pablo Escobar.
I have a vague memory of that movie, because I didn't like it very much, the best part was Benicio del Toro's performance. But the filmmaker demonstrated in many of the scenes how to build a well-paced thriller, the script of Escobar: Paradise Lost was also written by the filmmaker. The result was a perfect film to watch in a weekend and forget it after a few minutes.
Two years later he returned to acting in the film Amor a la Siciliana, but he would not abandon the pleasure of being behind the camera.
The Informer was released in January last year in the United States, but only a few days ago I was able to see it. The director's name brought back memories of his previous film and my expectations were low, but what really caught my attention was the cast that makes up the film, encouraging me to see it.
This time, the screenplay is in charge of Matt Cook, who has among his works the screenplays of action thrillers such as The Angel Has Fallen, Triple Nine and co-wrote with Peter Berg the screenplay of Patriots Day, a film about the terrible Boston Marathon bombing.
The Informant is an adaptation of the novel Three Seconds by Swedish writers Anders Roslund and Börge Hellström. Both authors started writing crime novels together since 2004. They gained a lot of success within the genre and their works are bestsellers in many countries. Sadly Börge Hellström passed away in 2017, he was a former criminal who had regenerated himself and was an activist who donated a large part of his earnings to organizations helping ex-convicts. He knew criminal behavior, bringing realism to the novels he wrote with Roslund.
With all of the above, I preferred to keep my expectations low, not wanting to be disappointed as I have been with the last few films I have seen.

El actor Andrea Di Stefano hizo su debut como director de cine en el 2014 con el film Escobar: Paradise Lost. Era una película con una trama ficticia, en la que un chico que se dedica al surf, viaja a Colombia y se enamora de una sobrina de Pablo Escobar.
Tengo vagos recuerdos de esa película, porque no me gusto mucho, lo mejor fue la actuación de Benicio del Toro. A pesar de todo, el cineasta demostró en muchas de las escenas saber construir un thriller con buen ritmo, el guion de Escobar: Paradise Lost también fue escrito por el cineasta. El resultado fue un film perfecto para ver un fin de semana y olvidarle a los pocos minutos.
Dos años después regreso a la actuación en la película Amor a la Siciliana, pero no abandonaría el placer de estar detrás de las cámaras.
The Informer se estreno en Enero del año pasado en Estados Unidos, pero fue hace unos días que pude verla. El nombre del director me trajo los leves recuerdos de su anterior película y mis expectativas eran bajas, lo que si llamo mucho mi atención fue el elenco que conforma el film,que me animo a verla.
En esta ocasión, el guion es escrito por Matt Cook, quien tiene entre sus trabajos los guiones de thrillers de acción como Angel Has Fallen, Triple Nine y coescribió junto a Peter Berg el guion de Patriots Day , película sobre el terrible atentado al Maraton de Boston.
The Informer es una adaptación de la novela Three Seconds de los escritores suecos Anders Roslund y Börge Hellström . Ambos autores comenzaron a escribir novelas criminales conjuntamente desde el año 2004. Obtuvieron reconocimiento dentro del género y sus obras son éxito de ventas en muchos países. Lamentablemente Börge Hellström murió en el 2017, el fue un ex criminal que se había regenerado y era un activista que destinaba muchas de sus ganancias a organizaciones que ayudaban a ex convictos. What is the plot of THE INFORMER?
Pete Koslow is a former soldier, married with a young daughter. He has been infiltrating the Polish mafia for some time, carrying out orders from the FBI. The goal is to capture the head of the Polish mob so Pete and his family can live in peace. But when a drug delivery goes wrong and a cop is killed, things will change for Pete, who will be forced by the mafia boss to enter prison to control the sale of drugs inside the penitentiary. If he refuses, his family will die. At the same time, Montgomery, the FBI supervisor sees his entire case threatened, as Grens, the dead cop's partner is investigating the strange circumstances in which his agent died. There is nothing groundbreaking in the story. A man who is about to do one last job for the FBI. He only thinks about finishing being an infiltrator to live in peace with his beautiful wife and daughter.
But as always happens, something goes wrong. Otherwise, there would be no story to tell. No?
A drug deal ends with a dead cop. The FBI must abort the mission and conceal that they know the circumstances of that local cop's death. But Grens, the murdered man's partner and boss, will investigate on his own. The evidence will lead him down the path of the Polish mafia and, specifically, that of Pete Koslow.
The protagonist sees how his infiltration inside the criminal organization is in danger. Klimek "The General" is the mafia boss who will put Pete between a rock and a hard place. He will force him to turn himself in to the police so that he can manage the distribution of the drugs inside the prison, otherwise his wife and daughter will die.
Wilcox, his direct contact in the FBI can do nothing, as he follows the orders of Montgomery, who sees Pete as a new threat to the operation and can damage his career.
Pete has to protect his life inside the prison from rival gangs, who will take a dim view of the Polish mob invading their drug territory. He must also protect himself from the FBI and The General from harming his family. He is a man who will have few options and will do anything to escape and rescue his family.

No hay nada novedoso en la historia. Un hombre que está a punto de hacer un último trabajo para el FBI. Solo piensa en terminar de ser un infiltrado para vivir en paz con su hermosa esposa e hija.

Pete tiene que cuidar su vida dentro de la prisión ante las bandas rivales que no estarán contentas que la mafia polaca invada su territorio de drogas. The pacing and story work by cinematographer Andrea Di Stefano is good. A well seen plot in the genre, it doesn't bring anything new to the table, but as an action thriller it's a good film.
It is an entertaining film, the first part hooks us to the story, the whole FBI operation, the drug delivery and the sale that goes wrong, keeps a good pace.
It is true that the stereotype of the characters that populate the criminal stories is handled a lot. The young man who is very violent and fixes everything by killing. The mob boss who keeps his cool while threatening to dismember a family, the good cop who discovers the whole plot and decides to help the protagonist, etc.
Fans of action thrillers will be satisfied with the movie, it is ideal to watch on a weekend eating popcorn and drinking coke. Surely half an hour after watching it you will no longer remember it, it is a production made to entertain and pass the time. Fast food style cinema.
The main character will be exposed to extreme situations, his life is always in danger, everyone wants him dead. That sense of danger and how the character can save himself from every situation is the best thing about the film. We don't identify with the protagonist and we want everything to turn out well for him. Will it be possible?

El trabajo del cineasta Andrea Di Stefano a nivel de ritmo e historia es bueno. Un argumento muchas veces visto en el género, no aporta nada novedoso, pero como thriller de acción es un buen film.
Es una película entretenida, la primera parte nos engancha en la historia, todo el operativo del FBI , la entrega de las drogas y la venta que sale mal, mantiene la tension alta.
Es cierto que se maneja mucho el estereotipo de los personajes que pueblan las historias criminales. El joven que es muy violento y todo lo arregla matando. El jefe de la mafia que mantiene la calma mientras amenaza con descuartizar a tu familia, el buen policía que descubre todo el complot y decide ayudar al protagonista, etc.
Los seguidores de los thriller de acción se sentirán satisfechos con la película, es ideal para ver un fin de semana comiendo palomitas de maíz y tomando coca cola. Seguramente media hora después de verla ya no la recuerdes, es una producción hecha para entretener y pasar el rato. Cine estilo comida rápida.
El protagonista se verá expuesto a situaciones extremas, siempre su vida está en peligro, todos lo quieren muerto. Esa sensación de peligro y cómo puede el personaje salvarse de cada situación es lo mejor de la película. No identificamos con el personaje principal y queremos que todo le salga bien. ¿Sera posible?
La familia del protagonista también corre peligro y deben ingeniárselas para mantenerse a salvo. Por eso recibirán la ayuda de otro personaje que se percata de todo el asunto alrededor de la mafia polaca y el FBI. ¿Cumplirá con su objetivo?

I think the cast of several familiar faces is an important factor in keeping us attentive to the story. Perhaps the performances are not the best, nor should we expect depth in the characters in a film that only wants to entertain.

Rosamund Pike plays Wilcox the FBI agent overseeing Pete's infiltration. She is torn between loyalty to the FBI and helping Pete. Pete's incarceration and the fact that cop Grens is investigating will be a threat to his successful career. To protect himself he will be willing to do anything. The actor plays the role of a typical law enforcement villain who decides that the undercover agent must die.
Clive Owen interpreta a Montgomery, uno de los villanos del film. Es el jefe de Wilcox en el FBI y encargado de toda la operación contra la mafia polaca. Ana de Armas plays Sofia, Pete's wife. She will be helped by Grens to save her life and that of their young daughter. The Polish mafia will be watching her and at any failure on Pete's part, she could be killed. The beautiful Ana de Armas does not stand out much in this character. Currently a well-known actress, the script doesn't help her much either.

Common plays Grens, the cop investigating the death of his local agent. The Informant has action, crime, suspense and good pace. An entertaining action thriller that I liked. A good cast with typical and flat characters, but it does not disappoint and entertains until the end.
There is nothing new and the story can be predictable, but the main character does an excellent job, making us feel the tension every time his life is in danger.

The Informer tiene acción, crimen, suspenso y buen ritmo. Un thriller de acción entretenido que me gusto. Un buen elenco con personajes típicos y planos, pero que no decae y entretiene hasta el final.
No hay nada nuevo y su historia puede ser predecible, pero el protagonista hace un excelente trabajo, haciéndonos sentir la tensión cada vez que su vida este en peligro.
