Filmmaker Aneesh Chaganty, the very same director of the successful film Searching, brings us an exciting thriller starring Sarah Paulson and the debutant actress Kiera Allen.

What is the plot of Run?

Diane Sherman is a devoted mother who cares for her daughter Chloe, who was born suffering from many illnesses. She is now a teenager, but lives in virtual isolation at home, must use a wheelchair because she cannot walk, suffers from asthma, diabetes, etc. She does nothing without her mother's help and control. One day, she will begin to suspect that her mother is hiding something from her, soon she will discover all the dark secrets that Diane is hiding. Now she must do everything possible to escape from the person who loves her.

A thriller that keeps us hooked by a good staging and excellent performances by the two main actresses, with a tension that increases in each scene, until reaching an exciting final climax.

What is a mother capable of doing for the love of her daughter? Could she even hurt the thing she loves most so as not to lose it? What is the secret that this loving mother hides? Is she really all that she seems to be?

Chloe is a smart young woman, eager to get into college. She has spent her entire life depending on the medications her mother provides. The two of them get along well, and everything her mother does is for her own good. Diana has dedicated her entire life to taking care of her beloved daughter.

A simple mistake will make Chloe suspect that there is something her mother is not telling her. One lie after another will provoke a reaction in Chloe, who, despite her disability, will do everything possible to discover the truth.

A struggle between mother and daughter, where each time Chloe will discover terrible things, completely demolishing the concept she had of her mother.

The story is very well told, from the first minutes it introduces us to the plot, the mystery that Chloe's mother hides is predictable, but it is the way the director tells the story, that it does not matter that we can guess all the mysteries and turns that the plot will take. There is no time to take your eyes off the screen for a moment

The two actresses who play the two main characters carry a lot of weight to make the story work. They fit perfectly into this fight between mother and daughter.

Sarah Paulson once again plays a deeply disturbed woman. She takes on the role of Diane Sherman, the mother who is willing to do anything to keep her daughter with her. Nothing and no one can stop her, her daughter needs her.

The actress is already well known and a few weeks ago I wrote a review of the last series I star in. Ratched. Sarah Paulson is one of Ryan Murphy's favorite actresses, where she has participated in the series American Horror Story and American Crime Story. In addition, the actress has participated in many films, won awards and is seen in good projects. ( Glass, Mrs America, Oceans 8, Bird Box, etc )

But it is the young actress Kiera Allen, playing Chloe Sherman, who deserves high praise. It's her character, played in an excellent way, that keeps us glued to the screen, watching how the hell she will escape from her crazy mother. The scene in which he must escape from his room, crawling across the roof of the house, makes us feel the suffering he is going through.

According to her IMDB record, she worked on a short film called Ethan & Skye and is participating in the Ellen De Generes program this year. It's really a surprise in this movie, I liked her work and I hope she continues her career as an actress and we can see her in other movies or TV series. The industry should offer more opportunities to actors with disabilities. She is disabled in real life and it has been important for an actress with a disability to star in a movie.

You can read an interview with her in the New York Times: Link

Filmmaker Aneesh Chaganty directs the film. When I saw that this man was the director, that's when I knew it had to be an entertaining film. I really liked his previous film, the excellent Searching, where all the action in the film took place through computer cameras, cell phones, newsreels, etc. It was an excellent thriller that received positive reviews and the audience liked it.

It was for that film, Searching, that the filmmaker won the Alfred P. Sloan Award at the 2018 Sundance Festival. He now repeats in the genre, with this exciting thriller, which he also writes, along with the other screenwriter, Sev Ohanian.

Run is a perfect choice to enjoy this weekend. I promise that his story will keep you looking at the screen, with each scene full of tension and emotion. As we discover the terrible secret behind Diane Sherman, we hope that Chloe can escape it, as soon as possible.

The film has been released and is available on Hulu's streaming platform.
