Hammer is a Canadian production, which mixes family drama with a crime thriller. It is a small film, but with enough intensity in the narration of the story, to make it an entertaining film and to make us interested in seeing Chris' father, getting him out of the big trouble he is in.

Stephen Davis, Chris' father, seems like a quiet and peaceful man. He's a normal, honest person who doesn't like anything shady. But Chris is his son and he can't leave him alone. Besides, everything will get complicated when the rest of the family is in danger too. Jeremy, Chris' youngest son and his brother, will be Adams' target.

When Stephen sees his children in danger, he will have no choice but to protect his own, no matter what the law says. The film explores the relationship between father and son, that even though they may have differences, a parent is always willing to protect them.

Chris' bad decisions will affect the whole family, who will suffer again because of the black sheep in the family, and who has pushed his younger brother to commit a criminal act. The big problem that involved his family will cause father and son to make desperate decisions.

The film tells us the criminal plot as it involves us in the family's problems. The time they take to move from one place to another will be used to discuss the family problems.

There is a tension throughout the film, there is a sense that at any moment an act of violence will occur. This is one of the aspects that I have liked about the film, it is not a high budget production, but its scenes give us bad feelings.

The character of Chirs is played by Canadian actor Mark O'Brien, who has worked in the series Republic of Doyle , City on a Hill and Halt and Catch Fire. The actor has also ventured into directing, so far he has directed many short films and television series episodes. He is currently in post-production on a horror film called The Righteous.

The well-known actor Will Patton plays Stephen Davis, Chris and Jeremy's father. The man who will have to make desperate decisions to protect his children. The actor has an excellent role, in a leading role. In his career he has more than forty movies, most of them in supporting roles, but always with an impeccable performance.

Ben Cotton, an actor known by the fans of the series Stargate Atlantis, is in charge of playing Adams, the criminal who after the business goes bad, will not rest to recover the money that belongs to him. He is the villain of the story and the one whom the protagonists must defeat.

The cast is completed by Vickie Papavs playing Karen Davis, wife of Stephen and mother of Chris and Jeremy. Actor Connor Price plays Jeremy, Chris' younger brother, who is stupid enough to get involved in the crime and risk his life. Among his most important works, there is a small participation in the movie Cindirella Man. And finally, Canadian actress Dayle McLeod plays Lori, Adams' girlfriend.

The film is written and directed by Canadian filmmaker Christian Sparkes. The filmmaker has in his filmography several short films, works in television series and documentaries. In 2014 he directed the film Cast No Shadow, which was awarded at the Atlantic Fiml Festival, and received nominations for the Canadian Screen Awards. In that film he also addressed the conflicting father-son relationship. According to his IMDB file, he is not currently preparing any projects.

Hammer is an entertaining film, a crime drama, where the two main actors do a great job, keeping the suspense and tension in each of their scenes. They have a good relationship, bringing credibility to this story, where the good guys are pushed to do bad things, all for the good of the family.
