Dune - The Green Knight - Army of Thieves – Free Guy / FOUR FILM REVIEW

The last few weeks I haven't had much time to watch movies or finish watching some series. The list of movies to watch keeps growing, it will never be shorter, with so many recommendations I read daily in the community. But the list of movies I have seen and haven't written my opinion, was also growing, so today I decided to make another compilation of movies and tell you my impressions. I liked all four movies, of course, one of them fascinated me. No, it's not the one you think. Read on if you want to know my opinion about each of these excellent movies.

I had included another movie, to do five short reviews, but at the last minute I decided to leave it out, because I didn't like the movie, although I will mention it when I talk about Free Guy. I saw these movies even within weeks of each other, the most recent being the first two. Sci-fi, medieval fantasy, zombie heist movie prequel and a comedy, different genres, with good stories, which one will be your favorite, have you seen them yet, did you like or hate any of them? Hahaha. I hope you answer those questions at the end, in the comments section, for now let's go straight to my opinion of each one.

Dune

The night I saw this movie, I was very tired, because I had had a very busy day, busy doing some things on the platform and in my daily life. But I really wanted to see it and it didn't matter that my body was giving contrary signals. It was a bad decision. That first viewing I couldn't enjoy it. Let's remember that it is an adaptation of a dense literary work and it was necessary to have all my senses functioning at 100%. I learned a lesson, don't watch a movie again when you feel too exhausted.

I commented that to a friend in the community on discord and also that I would watch it again. So I did two days later and before recording the podcast in which we would tackle the science fiction topic and I wanted to start with this movie.

My second viewing of Dune was a satisfying experience. Definitely, Denis Villeneuve, who has dedicated his latest productions to creating universes with great detail and the use of special effects, was the right filmmaker to make this new adaptation. There have been some divided opinions. Is the pace slow? Is there not much action? True, but that happens when audiences are uninformed about a given production and think they are going to see a movie with lightsabers, explosions and big spaceship battles. Production companies also make the mistake of selling a movie the wrong way, which makes some viewers who had no prior information about the story a bit disappointed.

It is a difficult story to tell because of the large number of characters and we are talking about the fact that it is barely an introduction, it is a first part. It is true that the development of the characters has its ups and downs. Because the filmmaker, whose first films I love, spends more time to captivate us with images, the same as in Arrival and the sequel to Blade Runner. But it is something he knows how to do very well and therefore, any small detail in the construction of the characters and the role within the story, I leave it aside, to be absorbed in this fantastic recreation of the universe devised by Frank Herbert in his books.

It seems that it was also expected what the reaction of the majority would be and how it would perform at the box office. Upon completion of the film, my fear is that they would then say they were not going to continue the story, leaving us with a bad taste in our mouths. Fortunately the opposite has happened, the receptivity has been good, most of the specialized critics have given good reviews and it was confirmed a few weeks ago that there will be a sequel, perhaps it could be released in 2023. Dates may change. But the filmmaker made some statements in which he left the door open to a trilogy. That is still under discussion. We can only wait (it will be a long wait) to continue enjoying this adaptation.

Do I recommend it? Totally. It's a work of sci-fi with great technical quality, a fantastic cast and visually fascinating. If you've seen any of Denis Villeneuve's films, you know he's one of the most visually stunning filmmakers working today. I liked Dune, but it was another film that left me spellbound, the following :

Dune

The Green Knight

Director David Lowery does a splendid job adapting the ancient manuscript Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, part of Arthurian mythology. The fascinating journey of Sir Gawain where he will test his courage to become a knight, is a story full of fantasy and visually hypnotic.

Yes, it is another film where we will be fascinated by its images, but I think that unlike Dune, there is a greater care in the characters, perhaps because all the action falls on the protagonist. I am not going to compare them, because they are very different, but many viewers criticized its pace and some even said they did not understand the story.

That's the damage done by other movies that are the most watched by the masses, who always expect to see something the same and then when they come across stories with a slower and different pace, they get bored or don't understand it, because they are totally unaware of the original work of such adaptations.

From my point of view Lowery does a great job, the story is perfectly understood and the ending they decided to give it, I thought it was great. It was a perfect ending. I would like to tell you more about the story, but I would have to do spoilers and it is a movie you will enjoy if you don't know much about the plot. If someone has told you the movie is bad, don't believe them, it's a great movie and it's another one I have on my best of list for this year.

Let yourself be carried away by the story, get into the journey that King Arthur's nephew undertakes, witness his transformation, feel his fear, his inner struggle to become a knight, having to face the tragic destiny that seems to await him. Will he succeed?
Fans of medieval fantasy will be happy with this adaptation. Stop wasting your time watching bad movies like Red Notice, a truly bad movie, and enjoy The Green Knight. It's been several months since I saw it and I have it on back order to see it again, because it exudes magic and beauty in every frame. Also, Dev Patel does a convincing job playing Sir Gawain. He assumes all the limelight in one of his best performances.

I hope you like it and can appreciate all the beauty of the film. Of the four reviewed today, this is the one that I liked the most and left me enchanted.

The Green Knight

Army of Thieves

We already knew it, when I made my post about Army of the Dead I said that Snyder has a lot of plans for the zombie universe created for Netflix. I was one of the defenders of Army of the Dead, I liked that movie and all the madness captured by the filmmaker.

We knew that a movie would be released later this year that works as a prequel, although the zombies do not have weight in the story, it is mostly a movie that tells us about the past of the funniest character of Army of the Dead: Dieter. I liked all the characters in the first movie, but Dieter won my affection.

Army of Thieves tells us what that character's life was like, when the zombie apocalypse begins. Actor Matthias Schweighöfer reprises his role, but he is also in charge of directing and although it is set in the same universe created by Snyder, it has that different touch that makes it a fun heist movie.

I won't say much about the plot, but Dieter, whose real name we will discover in the movie, will be recruited by a gang of thieves to commit three impossible robberies, where Dieter will test his knowledge by opening the safes. What will happen, will they succeed in committing the robberies, how does Dieter get to Las Vegas?

There are several characters in this film that may appear in Snyder's sequel to Army of the Dead. I hope Nathalie Emmanuel returns to play Gwendoline, because not only did she make Dieter fall in love, but she also made me fall in love with her. I also want to see Korina, the hacker girl, played by Ruby O. Fee. I also wouldn't mind seeing the idiots Brad Cage and Rolph, but I want Cage to get eaten by a zombie tiger, I hate his character.

I liked the crazy story, the robberies and the cute but sad love story between Gwendoline and Dieter. what will Snyder have in store for us? We don't know, I can only speculate, but as I have commented to several users who posted their review of the movie, in Army of the Dead we never saw Dieter die, so there is a possibility that his character is alive. How is that possible? In Snyder's zombie universe, anything is possible.

In the latest statements offered by Snyder, who is busy creating another sci-fi movie universe for Netflix, he has said that they have many ideas in their heads and that Planet of the Dead, which is the title that the sequel will have, will have other genres in the equation, including aliens and time travel in the story, reinforcing all the theories that have been made since the release of the first film.

The bad thing about all this is that we'll have to wait until he gets out of the current movie he's making to start on the sequel. Don't rule out that we will see characters again that have already died. I trust Snyder to make something entertaining. And those who are haters of the director and this universe are going to suffer greatly ranting about this movie. I advise them to take a chill pill, because this universe is going to expand a lot. Hahaha

Army of Thieves

¿Cómo llega Dieter a Las Vegas?

Jajaja

Free Guy

The night I watched "Free Guy," I had first watched the bodacious "Night Teeth" on Netflix. That boring story that even the beautiful actresses playing the vampires couldn't make me like. I was so disappointed in Night Teeth that I needed to see something really good, so I made the wise decision to watch Free Guy.

Filmmaker Shawn Levy has extensive experience in making movies that make us avoid all the problems and have a good time. I was upset that I had seen a bad movie, but five minutes into Free Guy it awakened my gentler side and I was hooked by its story. I enjoyed the whole movie like when a young man in love gets his first kiss from the girl he likes. I spent the whole movie with a smile on my face.

Of course, another of those responsible for me enjoying the movie so much, is Ryan Reynolds playing Guy, that man who daily follows his routine, get up, greet his fish, have breakfast, buy coffee and go to work in a city (world) where there are many criminals and special people who wear sunglasses. Until everything takes a turn in his life, when he falls in love with Molotov Girl, what he doesn't know is that she doesn't exist, it's just a video game and he is an unimportant character in that world. He also doesn't know that Molotov Girl is actually called Millie and is one of the creators of the game's algorithm.

The story alternates between what happens in real life, with Millie and her ex-partner trying to prove that Antwan hid the code within the game itself and will fight to save the game and thus the world Guy lives in.

Reynolds stands out with a charming, innocent, funny character who does a lot of risky things, when he can see his world through sunglasses. The role of Millie, is played by Jodie Comer, this excellent actress that I love from the series Killling Eve, where she plays my favorite killer of the current series on air. In the movie she also has her funny moments, but it is Reynols who has the baton to offer us the hilarious moments.

It's a movie made to have a good time, make us laugh and thrill us with its scenes of adventure and danger that the protagonist must solve. And they do it very well, it is an excellent film of evasion, to enjoy a few hours and forget the bad moments of the day.

With me it succeeded, when I finished watching it, I drank water and went to sleep happy, remembering some funny scenes and had completely forgotten the fiasco of the previous film. Free Guy I recommend it for those who are just looking for entertainment, you will have a great time.

Free Guy

These four movies make up my recommendations, you have to choose, according to your favorite genre. I recommend them all, they are good movies worth watching, but I respect tastes and preferences. There are other movies, for example, the last James Bond movie, which I saw last week, I also liked it, but I didn't want to include it in the post because it would be longer. Maybe I will make a post just for James Bond and Craig's farewell to that character.

If you already saw any of the movies I recommended, don't forget to give your opinion in the comments. see you soon Hivers!
