Kazakhstan's second best reporter returns after 14 years, for an important mission in America. Sharp, acidic and politically incorrect.

What is the plot?

Borat Sagdiyev has been punished by the government of Kazakhstan for what happened 14 years ago, during his trip to America. His family and the people hate him, but the government will give him an important mission, to give a gift (a monkey) to the powerful man of America. Borat travels around the world by boat until he arrives in the United States, but when the gift arrives, his daughter Tutar, who has eaten the monkey, leaves the box. Realizing that powerful men like women, he decides that the gift will be his daughter Tutar. To do this, he will have to transform her into an attractive woman and try to give her to one of the powerful men. He cannot fail in the mission, otherwise he will be sentenced to death in Kazakhstan

It was in 2006 when Borat, a character created by the irreverent Baron of Sacha Cohen, was released. The mock documentary film was a comedy that became an instant success. It was a social satire of America, which used an acidic humor, but above all it was politically incorrect. The humor was offensive to many people and got Baron Cohen into trouble several times during filming.

For me it was a great film, which made me laugh from beginning to end, all the character's occurrences and people's reactions, were to die for. I remember the scene where Borat interviews a medium, to try to communicate with a dead friend, and ends up having sex with the spirit, before the medium's astonished gaze. My stomach hurt from laughing so much.

Fourteen years have passed and a couple of months ago we were surprised by the announcement that Baron Cohen had been secretly recording a sequel to the film. Although there had already been news of events related to the actor, it was thought that they were part of other characters that he also plays, but in reality, they were for this film whose full title is: Borat's Later Film: Delivering the Prodigious Bribe to the American Regime to Benefit the Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.

This second part of Borat, logically does not have the freshness of the first film, the character is already an icon of pop culture, but that does not detract from its merits, the result of this sequel is fun, maintains the acidic mood, continues to offend various sectors, especially Jews (the actor is Jewish) and for the times we live, is politically incorrect.

This is something I appreciate, that they still dare to make politically incorrect comedies. Enough of that culture that has spread in the glass generation, where everything is offensive and they want to censor it. Humor, used as socio-political satire, should not be limited.

In my opinion, the first part is still better and more fun, but this second part works perfectly as a sequel, and gives us a good number of really hilarious moments. Again, people's reactions are the funniest part of the whole thing, how they react to what Borat and his daughter do or say.

Like a mockumentary, there are parts that are absolutely acted out or in complicity with the other part involved, and then there are the documentary-style segments, with people who are totally shocked by what they hear or see.

For example, in the debutante dance scene, an audience fee was paid, but people were selected who did not know who Baron Cohen was. The reactions of astonishment, because of what happens in the dance that Borat and Tutar do, were real.

In this interview in the New York Times Link , the actor assured that he had to spend a week in character 24 hours a day, time that he spent living with two men who are followers of conspiracy theories, right-wing radicals and followers of the current president.

In June, he recorded the character's performance at a March for Our Rights in Washington, where supporters of the great America reveled in the racist and offensive songs against Obama. At one point he called for the gas chamber, German-style, and people shouted with emotion. This scene scared me a little. In this Tweet you can see when that recording happened Link

Rudy Giuliani, the highlight of the film.

The former New York strongman, during his time as mayor of that city and current Trump's lawyer, stars in one of the scenes that has caused controversy on social networks.

The fake interview that Tutar, Borat's daughter, does as a journalist for Patriots Report, recorded in July, takes place in a hotel, the mayor is very happy with the reporter, and several times we see him holding hands, we can see that there is flirting between the two. They have a few drinks and she invites him to her room to remove the microphone, at one point Borat interrupts saying that it is his daughter who is only 15 years old. ( the actress is 24 years old ).

Giuliani made a statement at that time, you can see the statements he made in July in this Link The former mayor has made recent statements, describing everything as a vile setup and that at no time did he behave inappropriately, that he was fixing his shirt after the microphone was taken away from him. You can read more at this link from the New York Times Link

The actor, has offered an answer to Giuliani, but embodying the character Borat, through Twitter : Link

The film is directed by filmmaker Jason Woliner, who began his acting career as a child, but as an adult has turned to comedy and was the director of the comedy show Human Giant by comedians Aziz Ansari, Rob Huebel and Paul Scheer. He has worked on other projects with Aziz Ansari and has even directed episodes of Parks and Recreation. As the director of this second part of Borat, he does well, managing to keep the film on track throughout the film. Borat's first film was directed by Larry Charles.

I am sorry that there is not the character of Azamat, who was played in the first film by the actor Ken Davitian. This time, Borat will be accompanied by his daughter Tutar, played beautifully by actress Maria Bakalova.

According to the film's credits and information found on Internet news portals, Maria Bakalova is making her debut in this film. According to her IMDB background, she was born in Bulgaria and has participated in short films and small roles in a couple of TV series, including an episode of Gomorrah. There is no more information about her, check out her profile on IMDB Link

I really liked Bakalova, she turned out to be the perfect match for Borat in the film. She also stars in two segments, before the interview with Giuliani, which are very good, especially at the meeting of conservative women, where she tells them what she just did in the bathroom. The character of Tutar is a worthy daughter of Borat.

Some say that Borat has been softened, by having a change towards women, by the love he feels for his daughter Tutar. But that final part, with that feminist Kazakhstan, is actually another stroke of humor, precisely criticizing that world to which the politically correct pushes us.

I had a lot of fun and it's the film I recommend watching this weekend.
