Estoy llegando un poco tarde a la reseña de esta serie puesto que se estrenó hace aproximadamente 3 años pero como el hecho no implica que acá estamos hablando de un poco de ella. The Alienist es de esas series que no son NADA conocidas, lo digo porque muchas personas que conozco no tienen o tenían ni idea de su existencia y es una lastima porque la considero una joya de las buenas.

Esta es una serie que está ambientada en el Nueva York de finales del siglo XIX, ya por ahí nos dice como va a ser toda su producción en lo que a ambientación y vestuario se refiere y lo que para mi, es un gran punto muy a favor. Es un thriller que está basado en una novela de "Caleb Carr" donde lo que predomina es una serie de asesinatos en series acompañados de mucho horror y brutalidad. Los protagonistas son Dakota Fanning, Luke Evens y Daniel Brühl, actores demás reconocidos.

Al ver entonces que la policía no tenía mucho interés en resolver este crimen y actuaba en forma negligente Laszlo decide conformar un grupo de personas que lo ayuden a dar con el paradero de este brutal asesino. Es cuando llama a John (Evans), un ilustrador del New York Times y a Sara (Fanning) quien es secretaria y que al final fue la primera mujer en convertirse en policía en Nueva York.

A partir de ahí la serie se desenvuelve en torno a la investigación de cada asesinato y de como a través de la psicología, algo que la verdad llama mucho la atención, se puede ser capaz de llegar al fondo y de descubrir mediante pistas y comportamientos al posible asesino.

En lo personal es una serie que me gustó bastante, es muy entretenida además de tener unos altibajos que hacen que logres engancharte con más facilidad. Tiene sus toques de suspenso y misterio que de verdad logran mantener la expectativa en todo momento y es que una vez comienzas a verla vas a querer saber como termina.
Personally, it is a series that I liked a lot, it is very entertaining besides having some ups and downs that make you get hooked more easily. It has its touches of suspense and mystery that really manage to keep the expectation at all times and once you start watching it you will want to know how it ends.
Tiene contenido grafico? - si lo tiene, nada muy grotesco pero lo suficiente. Y es que hay algunos asesinatos que más que la cantidad de sangre que pueda haber es la forma o el contexto de los mismos lo que realmente impacta; otro de los puntos que tiene esta serie a su favor.
Does it have graphic content? - Yes it does, nothing too grotesque but enough. And there are some murders that more than the amount of blood that may be there is the form or the context of them what really impacts; another of the points that this series has in its favor.
Y los personajes también muy buenos y bien estructurados. Laszlo es una persona muy peculiar y con sus manías que muchas veces puede parecer que sobreactúa pero en mi opinión creo que simplemente así es su personaje, alguien con muchos "tic" y que habla solo. Sara es una persona muy fría y calculadora, no es alguien de apegos pero a la vez una mujer muy capaz y comprometida con su trabajo y sobresalir. Y por último John, el más neutral de los tres, sin rasgos muy predominantes pudiera ser el personaje más "flojo".
And the characters are also very good and well structured. Laszlo is a very peculiar person with his own quirks that many times may seem that he overacts but in my opinion I think that's just the way his character is, someone with many "tics" and who talks to himself. Sara is a very cold and calculating person, not someone of attachment but at the same time a very capable woman committed to her work and excel. And finally John, the most neutral of the three, without very predominant traits could be the "weakest" character.
