Cuando comencé a ver Peacemaker la verdad no sabía con que me iba a encontrar, de hecho la venía posponiendo siempre por una u otra razón y después de haberla disfrutado toda no saben como me arrepiento de no haberla visto antes. Considero que esta serie junto con estos personajes y todo el contexto de The Suicide Squad es lo que está manteniendo a flote a DC Comics en estos momentos. La serie es increíblemente buena por donde la veas, pocas veces sucede que no tengo nada malo que decir de algo y creo que esta es una de ellas.
When I started watching Peacemaker I really didn't know what I was going to find, in fact I was always postponing it for one reason or another and after having enjoyed it all I don't know how much I regret not having watched it before. I think this series along with these characters and the whole context of The Suicide Squad is what is keeping DC Comics afloat right now. The series is incredibly good everywhere you look, it rarely happens that I have nothing bad to say about something and I think this is one of them.
Hay que aclarar que la película de The Suicide Squad a la que me refiero es la dirigida por James Gunn, la mente maestra de esta serie también y el culpable del éxito de ambas, porque si, esa película es extraordinaria. Necesitan verla para poder ver Peacemaker? - no es tan necesario pero si sería bueno para que tengan un poco más de contexto sobre el personaje. Pero bueno, sin más hablemos de esta joya de joyas que llegó al parecer para quedarse.

Cuando comienzas a ver la serie y la forma en la que se empieza a desarrollar la trama te vas dando cuenta de la mano de James Gunn. Es un director que tiene una forma bastante particular de mostrar su producto y es que el usa mucho la comedia pero una un poco acida y hasta negra al punto de que si eres una persona muy sensible puede ser que te incomode un poco. Y eso es lo mágico de la serie, que no se guarda nada ya que en ella hay personajes de todo tipo, el mismo Peacemaker es medio patán hasta que entiendes su trasfondo y comienzas a empatizar con él.
When you start watching the series and the way in which the plot begins to develop you realize the hand of James Gunn. He is a director who has a very particular way of showing his product and he uses a lot of comedy but a bit acid and even black to the point that if you are a very sensitive person it might make you a little uncomfortable. And that's the magic of the series, that he doesn't hold anything back because in it there are characters of all kinds, Peacemaker himself is a bit of a jerk until you understand his background and you begin to empathize with him.
Además de la comedia también vemos muchas escenas donde lo explicito está a la orden del día, la sangre, la violencia, ese momento cuando impacta una bala y sale medio cerebro por los aires, eso para mi es oro porque son elementos que le dan vistosidad a la serie pero sin ser exagerado en su uso, todo tiene su momento. Obviamente tiene su toque de ficción absurdo y es que eso es lo que hace que la serie funcione, esos detalles que cuando los ves simplemente te ríes.

Y continuando con lo anterior, lo absurdo es la bandera de esta serie. Un guion lleno de diálogos sin sentidos en medio de conversaciones de suma importancia es algo que definitivamente es gracioso como no tienen idea. Y tan absurdo como que la mascota de Peacemaker en un águila calva que lo abraza pero que al instante créanme que le agarran cariño. En fin, una historia que va de ir matando a gente pero que tiene estos detalles que hacen que la disfrutes el doble. Y es tan bueno todo que hay algo de lo que NUNCA hablo pero que vale la pena mencionarlo, el intro de la serie junto con la canción, lo ves y vas a cantar, te lo aseguro.
And continuing with the above, absurdity is the banner of this series. A script full of nonsensical dialogues in the middle of conversations of utmost importance is something that is definitely funny like you have no idea. And as absurd as Peacemaker's pet in a bald eagle that hugs him but instantly believe me you get attached to him. Anyway, a story that is about killing people but has these details that make you enjoy it twice as much. And it's all so good that there's something I NEVER talk about but it's worth mentioning, the intro of the series along with the song, you see it and you'll sing along, I assure you.

Llegamos a los personajes. Hay que decir que John Cena es un fenómeno, a él lo sigo desde su paso en la WWE y siempre ha sido una persona que se le ha dado bien el "acting" y la oratoria frente a un micrófono y que si, es muy gracioso, da risa genuina su personaje. Pero es un personaje profundo porque su manera de actuar tiene una razón de ser, hay cosas de su pasado que lo atormentan y por tal es como es. Muy buena actuación de Cena, un buen acierto del casting para el personaje.
Let's get to the characters. I must say that John Cena is a phenomenon, I follow him since his time in WWE and he has always been a person who has been good at "acting" and oratory in front of a microphone and yes, he is very funny, his character gives genuine laughter. But it is a deep character because his way of acting has a reason to be, there are things from his past that haunt him and that is why he is the way he is. Very good performance by Cena, a good casting choice for the character.
Tenemos a Harcourt (Jennifer Holland) quien es la ruda del equipo pero con buen corazón en el fondo, Adebayo (Danielle Brooks) es la que está obligada pero que al final termina siendo una pieza fundamental en el equipo, Economos (Steve Agee) es el incomprendido del grupo, un buen personaje también y Vigilante (Freddie Stroma) quien es un sociópata con cero empatía pero que de alguna manera termina logra conectar con todos. Y para el final dejo al papa de Chris, Auggie (Robert Patrick), el verdadero villano de esta historia, un personaje que van a odiar al instante por su forma de pensar y de actuar, no lo pierdan de vista.
We have Harcourt (Jennifer Holland) who is the tough one of the team but with a good heart at heart, Adebayo (Danielle Brooks) is the one who is forced but in the end ends up being a fundamental piece in the team, Economos (Steve Agee) is the misunderstood of the group, a good character too and Vigilante (Freddie Stroma) who is a sociopath with zero empathy but somehow ends up connecting with everyone. And for the end I leave Chris' dad, Auggie (Robert Patrick), the real villain of this story, a character that you will hate instantly for his way of thinking and acting, do not lose sight of him.

Conclusión: una serie épica con aires a The Boys (Amazon Prime) que lo tiene todo. Buena trama, excelentes escenas de acción donde todas estuvieron bien logradas, el toque cómico acido que siempre le va a dar un plus a la historia y a los diálogos, buenos personajes donde cada uno en su medida logran dejar un sello y no pasan desapercibidos; en fin, muchos elementos para que sea considerada de las mejores series que van a haber en este 2022.
Conclusion: an epic series with a touch of The Boys (Amazon Prime) that has it all. Good plot, excellent action scenes where all were well done, the acid comic touch that will always give a plus to the story and dialogues, good characters where each in their own way manage to leave a stamp and do not go unnoticed; in short, many elements to be considered one of the best series that will be in this 2022.
No fue complicado decidir la calificación pero acá me voy con 9.5/10 ya que para mi es perfecta, quiero encontrar algo negativo que decir y la verdad es que no lo encuentro, seguramente lo debe de tener pero no lo consigo. No se si será porque soy un gran fanático de todo este mundo o porque genuinamente la serie es así de buena, o las dos. La pueden ver en HBO Max y cuenta con 8 capítulos de 45 minutos de duración aproximadamente. El tráiler para que no lo duden y vayan a verla.
It wasn't complicated to decide the rating but here I go with 9.5/10 because for me it's perfect, I want to find something negative to say and the truth is that I can't find it, surely it must have it but I can't find it. I don't know if it's because I'm a big fan of this whole world or because the series is genuinely that good, or both.
