Hello, living beings! The latest @ocd contest is allowing me to talk extensively about one of my favorite genres in the film world and recommend you a lot of movies that every horror and good cinema fan, even if the movies are bad, have to watch or try to watch at least once in life.
My favorite genre of series and movies has always been horror, I was raised by horror movies; the movies my older siblings always watched were of this type, children's movies had no place in my childhood, or at least an important place that leads me to love them.
Nightmares were one of the many consequences of watching horror movies since I was six years old, at least that's the youngest age I remember being when I saw my first horror movie, which I will tell you about later; but since I didn't remember my nightmares and my whole family was the one who heard me screaming and crying in my sleep, I kept watching them without any problem whatsoever.
I love this specific genre because since I was a child I knew that evil existed in the world, and although in the movies it was disguised behind grotesque monsters, ghosts, and creatures from other worlds or universes, the ordinary people that exist around us can become capable of being as evil and cruel as those beings we see on the screen.
Since my beginnings I have been reviewing horror movies, among them are many of my favorites, but right now I am going to talk about three other favorite horror movies I have: Ju-On: The Grudge; Memoirs of a Murderer; and Martyrs.

El último concurso de @ocd me está dando la oportunidad de hablar extensamente sobre uno de mis géneros favoritos del mundo cinematográfico y recomendarles una gran cantidad de películas que toda persona fanática del terror y del buen cine, aunque las películas sean malas, tiene que ver o tratar de ver al menos una vez en la vida.
Mi género favorito de series y películas siempre ha sido el terror, yo fui críado por las películas de terror; las películas que mis hermanos mayores siempre veían eran de este tipo, las películas infantiles no tuvieron lugar en mi infancia, o al menos un lugar importante que me lleve a amarlas.
Las pesadillas fueron una de las muchas consecuencias de ver películas de terror desde los seis años, al menos esa es la menor edad que recuerdo tener al ver mi primera película de terror, de la cual les hablaré luego; pero como yo no recordaba mis pesadillas y toda mi familia era la que me escuchaba gritar y llorar mientras dormía, yo seguía viéndolas sin ningún problema alguno.
Amo este género en específico porque desde niño ya sabía que la maldad existía en el mundo, y aunque en las películas estuviera disfrazado detrás de monstruos grotescos, fantasmas y criaturas de otros mundos o universos, las personas comunes y corrientes que existen a nuestro alrededor pueden llegar a ser capaces de ser tan malas y crueles como esos seres que vemos en la pantalla.
Desde mis inicios he realizado reseñas de películas de terror, dentro de ellas están muchas de mis favoritas, pero en este momento les voy a hablar de otras tres películas favoritas que tengo de terror: Ju-On: The Grudge; Memorias de un Asesino; y Mártires.
Ju-On: The Grudge was the first horror movie I remember watching when I was six years old. I think of this movie and I feel again that I am sitting on my sister Greece's lap, surrounded by the rest of my siblings, in a dark room watching the small TV screen with the VHS player plugged in, playing the movie that would make me scream and cry in my sleep for three nights in a row without me remembering anything.
My sister always tried to cover my eyes with her hands, but I couldn't hear screams while the only thing in front of me was darkness, so during the whole movie I kept taking my sister's hand to let me watch the movie, no matter that I was shaking and couldn't scream because of the fear I felt.
Ju-On: The Grudge fue la primera película de terror que recuerdo haber visto a los seis años. Pienso en esta película y vuelvo a sentir que estoy sentado en las piernas de mi hermana Grecia, rodeados por el resto de mis hermanos, en una habitiación oscura viendo la pequeña pantalla del televisor con el reproductor de VHS conectado, reproduciendo la película que me haría gritar y llorar en sueños por tres noches seguidas sin yo recordar nada.
Mi hermana siempre trataba de taparme los ojos con sus manos, pero yo no podía escuchar gritos mientras lo único que tenía frente a mí era la oscuridad, así que durante toda la película estuve quitándole la mano a mi hermana para que me dejara ver la película, sin importar que estuviera temblando y no pudiera gritar por el miedo que sentía.
Ju-On: The Grudge is the third part of this Japanese movie saga from the 2000s, at that time of course I didn't know about it, but years later thanks to one of my brothers, who is almost as much of a horror movie fan like me, he got all three movies and we all went back to marathon it, this time I didn't scream and cry for three days again, but I did have nightmares and almost let the darkness scare me, but it wasn't like that.
These three movies are focused on the deaths and/or murders that begin to occur in a particular house, where over time, you begin to see the ghostly apparitions of a woman and a boy, both completely white/blue, with extremely black hair and a terrifying silence that accompanies them at all times.
Ju-On: The Grudge es la tercera entrega de esta saga de películas japonesas de los años 2000, en ese momento claro está que no lo sabía, pero años después gracias a uno de mis hermanos que es casi tan fanático del cine de terror como yo consiguió las tres películas y todos nos volvimos a dar un maratón, esta vez no volví a gritar y llorar por tres días, pero sí tuve pesadillas y casi dejo que me diera miedo la oscuridad, pero no fue así.
Estás tres películas están enfocadas en las muertes y/o asesinatos que comienzan a ocurrir en una casa en particular, donde a través del tiempo, se comienzan a ver las apariciones fantasmales de una mujer y un niño, ambos completamente blancos/azules, con los cabellos extremadamente negros y un silencio aterrorizante que los acompaña en todo momento.
The mastery with which this film is made is unparalleled, for its time it is the best Asian horror film ever made, and it is still better than many current Asian films. The terror in this film is not only in the story, which may well be the least remarkable but still no less important, but in the suspense scenes and the scare-jumps that not only make the characters scream, I could never scream because of the lump in my throat I felt; the slow or fast movements, the excessively low sounds, and the low but fair lighting capture all your attention preparing you for a great series of consecutive scares that have no equal.
My love for horror movies was born here, the adrenaline rush I got from watching the ghost woman open her mouth by more than 30 centimeters while her hair was tousled was such that I almost froze again at this point. Asian horror movies are one of my favorites, and this movie is the cause of that.
La maestría con que está hecha esta película no tiene igual, para su época es la mejor de las películas de terror asiáticas hechas, y todavía es mejor que muchas películas asiáticas actuales. El terror en esta película se encuentra no solo en la historia, que bien podría lo menos destacable pero aún así no menos importante, si no en las escenas de suspenso y los scare-jumps que no solo hace que los personajes griten, yo nunca pude gritar por el nudo en la gargante que sentía; la lentitud o rapidez de los movimientos, los sonidos excesivamente bajos y la poca pero justa iluminación captan toda tu atención preparándote para una gran serie de sustos consecutivos que no tienen igual.
Mi amor por las películas de terror nació aquí, la adrenalina que me causó ver cómo la mujer fantasma abría su boca por más de 30 centímetros mientras su cabello estaba alborotado fue tal que casi vuelvo a quedarme paralizado en este momento. Las películas asiáticas de terror son unas de mis favoritas, y esta película es la causa de eso.
Memoirs of a Murderer, a horror movie of the thriller subgenre, that although it usually has suspense, like almost all horror movies, is not its main feature that is used to describe them, these are about looking for something, discovering the truth behind the events, following an investigation that will clarify everything that is happening around us.
This is one of my favorite movies of the last few years for very simple reasons: it is based on a book and although it lacked a lot to be considered an equal, which never happens with any movie, with very specific exceptions; it is perfect, at least for me; the next reason is the story, it is a labyrinth that has no entrance or exit, so you find yourself wandering aimlessly and without being able to stop.
Memorias de un Asesino, una película de terror del subgénero thriller, que aunque suele tener suspenso, como casi todas las películas de terror, no es su principal rasgo que se usa para describirlas, estas tratan de buscar algo, descubrir la verdad detrás de los sucesos, seguir una investigación que va a esclarecer todo lo que está sucediendo a nuestro alrededor.
Esta es una de mis películas favoritas de los últimos años por muy simples razones: está basada en un libro y aunque le faltó mucho para considerarse su igual, que nunca a pasar con ninguna película, con excepciones muy específicas; es perfecta, al menos para mí; la siguiente razón es la historia, es un laberinto que no tiene entrada ni salida, así que te encuentras vagando sin rumbo alguno y sin poder detenerte.
Watching this movie we will witness how the past, the present, and an incoherent fantasy world will be mixed in the mind of our protagonist, Byung-su, a serial killer diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. I fell in love with the story at the exact moment when I knew what it was about, and when I saw the development, although I should say: and when I saw the entanglement in which we are told the story I ended up loving it completely.
Not only the past, the present, and the unreal world are going to be mixed here, but also all the murders Byung-su committed that he doesn't remember, but in reality he does and the people around him don't believe him because he's just another old man who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, so everything he says has to be a figment of his imagination. Who ended up fooling who?
Al ver esta película vamos a presenciar como el pasado, el presente, y un mundo de fantasía incoherente van a estar mezclados en la mente de nuestro protagonista, Byung-su, un asesino serial diagnosticado con alzheimer. Me enamoré de la historia en el momento exacto cuando supe de qué trataba, y al ver el desarrollo, aunque debería decir: y al ver el enredo en el que nos cuentan la historia la terminé de amar por completo.
No solo el pasado, el presente, y el mundo irreal van a estar mezclados aquí, si no también todos los asesinatos que Byung-su cometió y de los cuales no se acuerda, pero en realidad sí lo hace y la gente a su alrededor no le cree porque solo es un viejo más que fue diagnosticado con alzheimer, así que todo lo que dice tiene que ser producto de su imaginación. ¿Quién terminó engañando a quién?
Everything may seem complicated enough, but it ends up going to hell when Byung-su remembers that his daughter's life is in danger at the hands of her boyfriend, who also happens to be a serial killer, and although it may seem like I'm telling you spoilers, I'm not, it's impossible to tell with coherence and sense what this movie presents us with.
The cinematography and the cool color palette is one of my favorite things, it contains just the right amount of blood, murder, and suspenseful scenes where you don't know what to expect, even if what you are seeing has any sense at all.
Todo puede parecer lo suficientemente complicado, pero se termina de ir al infierno cuando Byung-su recuerda que la vida de su hija corre peligro a manos de su novio, que resulta ser también un asesino serial, y aunque parezca que les estoy contando spoilers, no es así, es imposible contar con coherencia y sentido lo que nos presenta esta película.
La fotografía y la paleta de colores fríos es de mis cosas favoritas, contiene la cantidad justa y necesaria de sangre, asesinatos y escenas de suspenso donde no sabes qué esperar, y mucho menos sabes si lo que estás viendo tiene sentido alguno.
Martyrs, the third movie of all my favorite movies that I am going to recommend in this publication. The nationality and subgenres are going to change a lot in this film, now I will tell you about this 2008 French film that covers subgenres such as psychological horror, curses, slashers, and completely overwhelming gore.
While it seems that everything can become very overwhelming, which it is, very much, you have no idea; the way it is made is as smooth as silk, although in this case, the silk is a bed made of nails where we will be lying for an hour and a half watching all the horrors that take place in Martyrs.
Mártires, la tercera película de todas mis películas favoritas que les voy a recomendar en esta publicación. La nacionalidad y los subgéneros van a cambiar mucho en esta película, ahora les hablaré de esta película francesa del año 2008 que abarca los subgéneros como lo son el terror psicológico, las maldiciones, los slashers, y un gore completamente abrumador.
Si bien parece que todo puede llegar a ser muy abrumador, que sí lo es, muchísimo, no tienen idea; la manera en que está hecha es tan suave como la seda, aunque en este caso la seda es una cama hecha de clavos donde vamos a estar acostados por una hora y media observando todos los horrores que tienen lugar en Mártires.
Martyrs will take us by the hand through all the sufferings of Anna and Lucie, two girls who were kidnapped and were in an old building, at least until Lucie appears running in the middle of the road and discover the exact place where she was held.
The stages of this film, the transitions between the different subgenres that I mentioned are the main attraction of this film, there are chases and murders for the tastes of some; curses in the form of hallucinations for the tastes of others; terror and psychological torture, my favorite; and a gore ending that has no comparison and no one can imagine, if you have no stomach to endure very graphic films violently, do not see this film for anything in the world.
Mártires nos va a llevar de la mano por todos los sufrimientos de Anna y Lucie, dos niñas que fueran secuestradas y se encontraban en un antiguo edificio, al menos hasta que Lucie aparece corriendo en medio de la carretera y descubren el lugar exacto donde estuvo retenida.
Las etapas de esta películas, las transiciones entre los diferentes subgéneros que los mencioné son el principal atractivo de esta película, hay persecuciones y asesinatos para los gustos de algunos; las maldiciones en forma de alucinaciones para los gustos de otros; el terror y tortura psicológica, mi favorito; y un final gore que no tiene comparación y nadie puede llegar a imaginarlo, si no tienen estómago para soportar películas muy gráficas violentamente, no vean esta película por nada del mundo.
Watching this movie was not easy for me, because usually, the horror movies I watched were only about murders, suspense, chases, and escapes of monsters or ghosts, so I was not prepared for the amount of suffering I was going to see, torture is something that is usually seen in horror, but I had never witnessed it in this way before and more than once I was about to stop watching it because I could not stand what I was seeing.
Martyrs is one of the best French horror movies without a doubt and I'm not telling you that you have to see it, but if you are interested, see the original, the French one from 2008, don't dare to see the remake that the United States did in 2016, it's a total disgust and doesn't even reach the heels of this wonder.
Ver esta película no fue fácil para mí, porque usualmente las películas de terror que veía eran solo de asesinatos, suspenso, persecuciones, y escapes de monstruos o fantasmas, así que no estaba preparado para la cantidad de sufrimiento que iba a ver, la tortura es algo que se suele ver en el terror, pero nunca antes lo había presenciado de esta forma y más de una vez estuve a punto de dejar de verla porque no podía soportar lo que estaba viendo.
Mártires es una de las mejores películas francesas de terror sin duda alguna y no les digo que tienen que verla, pero si se interesan, vean la original, la francesa del 2008, no se atrevan a ver el remake que le hizo Estados Unidos en el 2016, es un asco total y no le llega ni siquiera a los talones a esta maravilla.

Kokuhaku or Confessions, as I knew this movie, is a psychological thriller that cannot be overlooked. In a nutshell, the plot is as follows: a teacher has her daughter murdered, she discovers that it was one of her students, so now she begins her revenge against them.

The terms 'young people', 'journey', 'mountains', 'documentary' and 'horror' do not generate adversity for me, but when they are together in the same paragraph describing the plot of a film they are indisputable signs that I should run away from there, and I wish I had.

The Blair Witch Project nos cuenta la historia de tres jóvenes cineastas que hacen un viaje hacia las montañas de Burkittsville, Maryland, en 1994, para hacer un documental sobre una leyenda llamada 'La Bruja de Blair''. Los términos 'jóvenes', 'viaje', 'montañas', 'documental' y 'terror' no me generan adversidad, pero cuando están juntos en el mismo párrafo describiendo la trama de una película son señales indiscutibles de que debo salir corriendo de ahí, y ojalá lo hubiera hecho.
Swallow for many may be just another film of the bunch, made before or that explores themes already dealt with, and perhaps not in the best possible way. And they may be right, they may have good arguments that defend their position against the film, but despite being right it will not stop being a very good film, maybe I say it subjectively, but there are very objective things that make it an excellent film and that despite the turns it may cause to your stomach, it leaves a very good taste in your mouth.

Swallow para muchos puede ser una película más del montón, hecha con anterioridad o que explora temas ya tratados, y quizás no de la mejor forma posible. Y pueden tener razón, tener buenos argumentos que defiendan su posición contra la película, pero a pesar de tener razón no dejará de ser una muy buena película, quizás lo digo subjetivamente, pero hay cosas muy objetivas que la hacen una película excelente y que a pesar de las vueltas que le puede causar a tu estómago, deja un muy buen sabor de boca.
