On the weekend I wanted to see a light movie to spend the afternoon and while searching through the different streaming platforms, I found a familiar face, that of the actress Melissa McCarthy; I like her light comedy and the last one I saw of her "Thunder Force" I liked a lot so I decided that I would watch the movie "The Starling" on Netflix.
Vaya error, y no lo digo de una mala manera, lo que yo creí que sería una película divertida para pasar mi tarde de fin de semana terminó siendo una película bastante emocional y que me dejó por momentos deprimido.
What a mistake, and I'm not saying it in a bad way, what I thought would be a fun movie to spend my weekend afternoon ended up being quite an emotional movie that left me depressed at times.
El Estornino es una comedia dramática que habla sobre el proceso de duelo y cómo cada persona lo lleva de manera diferente, pero siempre con un impacto muy profundo en los sentimientos, qué si no se tratan de manera correcta pueden corroer nuestros vínculos con las personas que amamos y nos puede dejar aislados en una fuerte depresión.
The Starling is a dramatic comedy that talks about the grieving process and how each person handles it differently, but always with a very deep impact on feelings, what if not treated correctly can corrode our bonds with the people we love and can leave us isolated in a strong depression.
La película comienza con una pareja que está muy feliz, pintando un mural en la habitación de su hija que tiene poco que nació, son una familia feliz, ella trabaja como coordinadora en el supermercado local y él es maestro en una primaría de la ciudad, pero todo cambia en unos segundos, las escenas de la introducción no nos dan mucha idea de lo que sucedió, pero el mensaje es claro, nos enteramos de que Lily y Jack han perdido a su hija y qué él terminó en un centro de salud por tratar de quitarse la vida. No te preocupes nada de esto es un spoiler, ya que nos lo cuentan en los primeros 5 minutos de la película.
The film begins with a couple who are very happy, painting a mural in the room of their daughter who has just been born, they are a happy family, she works as a coordinator in the local supermarket and he is a teacher in a primary school in the city, but everything changes in a few seconds, the scenes of the introduction do not give us much idea of what happened, but the message is clear, we learn that Lily and Jack have lost their daughter and that he ended up in a health center for try to kill yourself. Don't worry, none of this is a spoiler since they tell us about it in the first 5 minutes of the movie.
A partir de aquí Lily tendrá que emprender un viaje emocional que involucra a un curioso enemigo emplumado que le ayudará a sanar emocionalmente y le permitirá vivir el proceso de duelo de una mejor manera, lo que también repercutirá en su matrimonio. La película me dejó un nudo en la garganta por tan emotiva historia y aunque tiene algo de comedia, esto no se vuelve una parodia, por lo que la película me gustó bastante.
From here, Lily will have to undertake an emotional journey that involves a curious feathered enemy that will help her heal emotionally and allow her to live the grieving process in a better way, which will also affect her marriage. The film left a lump in my throat for such an emotional story and although it has some comedy, this does not become a parody, so I liked the film a lot.
