I am not someone who considers myself an expert in writing movie reviews or anything like that, however, on this occasion I would like to share with you my opinion about a movie that came out in 2018 and was directed by none other than Bradley Cooper, yes, the same actor starring in the movie alongside Lady Gaga. I will tell you a little bit about A Star Is Born.
When I think of Bradley Cooper, movies like What Happened Yesterday, A Brigade: The Magnificent Ones or Guardians of the Galaxy, in which he lent his voice to the character of Rocket, the raccoon, usually come to mind. I had never seen him in this type of dramatic films, but in films like the ones mentioned above. It was because of this that, as I started watching the movie, I imagined that the character played by Bradley Cooper, Jackson Maine, would be funny or something like that, but nope. Neither the character nor the movie was funny, I found myself with a totally different movie than what I expected. This comes from not reading the synopsis before watching it....
I found the movie to be full of drama. It tells the story of Jack, a famous artist who meets a young woman named Ally (Lady Gaga). This young woman turns out to be a great singer and seeing her talent, he invites her to his concerts to sing with her. During this process they fall in love and that is practically what the first part of the film is about. How these two get to know each other and fall in love, as they go from concert to concert singing together.
Personally, I found the film interesting for the way in which we are involved in the story. Such is the case of the concerts, one can feel inside the event and thanks to the good performances of the protagonists, it feels as if it were a real one and not a mere performance. In the first one, for example, you can see in Ally's face the nerves that someone can feel at the mere thought of singing in front of 200 thousand spectators, just to say a number; you can also feel the euphoria and excitement of being in an event of such magnitude. The film doesn't show you the stage, it takes you there.
On the other hand, and entering a little into the intimate side of each character, we find Jack's struggle with alcoholism and other substances to which many artists resort to cope with that lifestyle. You see, it is well known that in the entertainment world, many are the artists who fall into addictions of various kinds because of the pressures exerted by the music industry at the levels of the great artists. This is the case of Jack, who suffers from this problem. The point is that when someone has an addiction of this type, he not only harms himself, but he also harms his loved ones. This is what we see in the second part of the film, how Jack's problems affect Ally's path to stardom.
An aside must be made here to explain that, at a certain point, Ally broke away from Jack to enter the music industry as a solo artist, with the help of a manager named Rez. Although they maintained their relationship, they never sang together again. Jack fell and Ally rose.
Already during what would be the second half of the film there are some very nice moments, like when Jack proposes to Ally, making an engagement ring with a guitar string. There are also other quite bitter moments, like when Ally received a Grammy. She went on stage with Jack, while he was completely stoned, to the point of peeing his pants live. As Rez tells it, it was something Ally almost never recovered from, as far as her music career was concerned.

At this point, Jack finally enters rehab and manages to overcome his addiction problems. After a while, Jack's reunion with Ally is very nice and even touching, because you can see how affected Jack is by all the damage he did to his wife because of his action problems. However, they go home together again.
During this stage of the film, one of the most emotional moments also occurs, between Jack and his brother, Bobby, with whom he had a lot of problems and arguments. In spite of this, Jack confesses something very important to his brother, moving him to the point of tears. I imagine that more than one of you must have felt like Bobby, especially if you paid attention to the plot between Jack and Bobby.
Finally comes one of the hardest moments of the movie, which begins with Rez, Ally's manager, going to visit Jack at his house. While they're talking, Rez tells Jack that he's doing great now, but that he'll soon return to his addiction problem, just like before, and that when that happens, he doesn't want him to be around Ally so he doesn't hurt her. Words more, words less.
We should digress here to mention that Rez acted without thinking about the effect his words might have on Jack, a person fresh out of rehab. We, like Rez, might say hurtful words to someone without knowing the effect they might have on that person. In Jack's case, what Rez said to him was the trigger for a wave of emotions that ended up leading Jack to relapse into his problem, and then make the regrettable decision to take his own life. Undoubtedly, words can have a very negative effect if they are used to destroy...
At the end, Ally ends up with a concert in honor of her late husband...

In short, the film is a journey in the life of Ally and Jack. A fading artist who helps a promising young woman enter the tempestuous world of show business. I enjoyed it and suffered through it, since, as I said, it has some tough moments. Jack's case is not an isolated one, many artists end up this way because of all the stress they put themselves under. At least I'm left with a phrase that Jack said to Ally in life, being both in Jack's house: "Thank you, Thank you for giving me a home, this house has never felt like a home".

No soy alguien que se considere un experto en escribir reseñas de películas o algo parecido, sin embargo, en esta ocasión me gustaría compartir con ustedes mi opinión sobre una película que salió en 2018 y fue dirigida por nada más y nada menos que Bradley Cooper, sí, el mismo actor protagonista de la película junto a Lady Gaga. Les hablaré un poco de Nace una estrella.
Cuando pienso en Bradley Cooper, normalmente me vienen a la mente películas como Qué pasó ayer, Brigada A: Los magníficos o Guardianes de la galaxia, en la que prestó su voz para el personaje de Rocket, el mapache. Nunca lo había visto en este tipo de películas dramáticas, sino en películas como las antes mencionadas. Fue por ello que, al comenzar a ver la película, imaginé que el personaje que interpretaba Bradley Cooper, Jackson Maine, sería gracioso o algo parecido, pero no. Ni el personaje ni la película fueron graciosos, me encontré con una película totalmente distinta a lo que esperaba. Esto pasa por no leer la sinopsis antes de verla…
Me pareció una película repleta de mucho drama. Nos cuenta la historia de Jack, un famoso artista que conoce a una joven llamada Ally (Lady Gaga). Esta joven resulta ser una gran cantante y al ver su talento, la invita a sus conciertos para que cante con ella. Durante este proceso se enamoran y de eso trata prácticamente la primera parte de la película. Cómo estos dos van conociéndose y enamorándose, mientras van de concierto en concierto cantando juntos.
Personalmente la película me pareció interesante por la forma en la que nos involucran en la historia. Tal es el caso de los conciertos, uno puede sentirse dentro del evento y gracias a las buenas actuaciones de los protagonistas, se siente como si fuese uno real y no una mera actuación. En el primero, por ejemplo, se puede ver en la cara de Ally los nervios que puede llegar a sentir alguien con la sola idea de cantar delante de 200 mil espectadores, por solo decir un número; también se siente la euforia y la emoción de estar en un evento de tal magnitud. La película no te muestra el escenario, te traslada a estos.
Por otra parte, ya entrando un poco en el lado íntimo de cada personaje, nos encontramos con la lucha de Jack con el alcoholismo y otras sustancias a las que recurren muchos artistas para sobrellevar ese estilo de vida. Verán, es bien sabido que en el mundo del espectáculo, muchos son los artistas que caen en adicciones de distintos tipos a causa de las presiones que ejerce la industria musical a niveles de los grandes artistas. Este es el caso de Jack, quien sufre de este problema. La cuestión es que cuando alguien tiene una adicción de este tipo, no solo se hace daño a sí mismo, sino que también perjudica a sus seres queridos. Esto es lo que vemos en la segunda parte de la película, cómo los problemas de Jack afectan el camino al estrellado de Ally.
Aquí hay que hacer un inciso para explicar que, en cierto punto, Ally se separó de Jack para entrar a la industria musical como solista, con ayuda de un manager llamado Rez. Aunque mantuvieron su relación, no volvieron a cantar juntos. Jack cayó y Ally se alzó.
Ya durante lo que sería la segunda mitad de la película hay momentos muy bonitos, como cuando Jack le pide matrimonio a Ally, haciendo un anillo de compromiso con la cuerda de una Guitarra. También hay otros momentos bastante amargos, como cuando Ally recibió un Grammy. Subió con Jack al escenario, estando él completamente drogado, al punto de orinarse en los pantalones en vivo. Según cuenta Rez, fue algo de lo que casi no se recuperó Ally, en lo que respecta a su carrera musical.

Llegados a este punto, Jack finalmente entra en rehabilitación y logra sobreponerse a sus problemas de adicción. Después de un tiempo, el reencuentro de Jack con Ally es muy bonito y hasta conmovedor, porque se ve lo afectado que está Jack por todo el daño que le hizo a su esposa a causa de sus problemas de acción. Sin embargo, vuelven a casa juntos otra vez.
Durante esta etapa de la película, también ocurre uno de los momentos más emotivos, de la mano de Jack y su hermano, Bobby, con quien tuvo mucho problemas y discusiones. A pesar de esto, en ese momento Jack le confiesa algo muy importante a su hermano, conmoviéndolo al punto de hacerlo ceder a las lágrimas. Imagino que más de uno se habrá sentido como Bobby, en especial si prestaron atención a la trama que había entre Jack y Bobby.
Finalmente llega uno de los momentos más duros de la película, el cual comienza con Rez, el manager de Ally, quien va a visitar a Jack a su casa. Mientras están conversando, Rez le dice a Jack que ahora está muy bien, pero que pronto volverá a su problema de adicción, tal como antes y que, cuando eso ocurra, no quiere que esté cerca de Ally para que no la perjudique. Palabras más, palabras menos.
Aquí hay que hacer un paréntesis para mencionar que Rez actuó sin pensar en el efecto que podrían tener sus palabras en Jack, una persona recién salida de rehabilitación. Nosotros, al igual que Rez, podríamos llegar a decir palabras hirientes a alguien sin saber el efecto que pueden tener en esta persona. En el caso de Jack, eso que le dijo Rez fue el desencadenante a una ola de emociones que terminaron llevando a Jack a recaer en su problema, para tomar luego la lamentable decisión de quitarse la vida. Sin duda, las palabras pueden llegar a tener un efecto muy negativo si se usan para derruir…
Al final, Ally termina con un concierto en honor a su difunto esposo...

En resumen, la película es un viaje en la vida de Ally y Jack. Un artista en decadencia que ayuda a una joven prometedora a entrar al tempestuoso mundo del espectáculo. La disfruté y la sufrí, ya que, como dije, tiene momentos muy duros. El caso de Jack no es un caso aislado, muchos artistas terminan de esta manera por todo el estrés al que se someten. Al menos me quedo con una frase que le dijo Jack a Ally en vida, estando ambos en la casa de Jack: “Gracias, Gracias por darme un hogar, esta casa nunca se ha sentido como un hogar”.
