Kylie Sonique Love was the lucky winner of Rupaul's Drag Race All Stars season 6, after a season full of redemptions and a few surprises. The entire top 4 consisting of Eureka, Rajah O'Hara, Kylie Sonique Love and Ginger Minj had a chance to become the newest inductee into the Hall of Fame of the most famous drag competition on the planet.

Rupaul didn't care about the track record of the contestants, proving once again that the final chapter is where the queens have to stand out and give their all. Although it was Team Rajah I must confess that I was quite pleased with Kylie's triumph, especially after how controversial it has been that trans women were not accepted in the competition before.

That's why I consider that the triumph of Kylie who has surpassed 500 thousand followers on Instagram after her participation in the program, comes in some way to redeem World Of Wonder the production company in charge of making the show. The most important thing is that we have a new sovereign, loved by a huge audience that believes in diversity.

But why is the triumph of a trans woman in a drag reality show important? To answer this question we must go back to 2010, the year when Rupaul's Drag Race premiered its second season. Back then, a tender contestant named Sonique gave us one of the most iconic lip sync in the history of the franchise, a place she reached by being among the last ones in episode 4 of the season.

On that occasion, one of the most representative maxi challenges of the reality show was performed for the first time: the Snatch Game. The Snatch Game is a challenge where the queens must imitate or rather impersonate a star of their choice, the biggest challenge is to make Rupaul laugh, who through random questions tests the queens' creativity. Kylie Sonique who decided to impersonate the star of the moment Lady Gaga and whose imitation was a disaster, which of course led her straight to elimination in a hard-fought Lip Sync that she lost to another star of the show Morgan McMichaels.

The second season would ultimately be won by the talented Tyra Sanchez and we would not hear from Sonique, whose name is a tribute to a British artist, until the reunion episode that airs at the end of each season. In that episode she became a legend by being the first drag performer on the show to publicly come out as transgender after an emotional breakdown during her interview.

After that, it took 8 years to see her again in a program of the franchise when she was invited in 2018 to a special Christmas program titled: Rupaul's Drag Race Holi-Slay, however it was her expected return to All Stars 6 that would put her back in a privileged place among the queens of the show.

In short, the triumph of a trans woman comes to reaffirm that Drag is a space where we all have a place, even trans women who for years fought for homosexuals to have the rights that today have managed to be recognized in some countries or enjoy greater tolerance in society. It is impossible to stop thinking about the millions of people who see in Kylie an opportunity to dare to be who they really are, without prejudice.

Many people don't understand transsexuality but it doesn't matter, the important thing is to respect your fellow men in their decisions and not to believe that because they are different from you they are inferior people. That's why I think his triumph in a program that was previously transphobic even against the concept that drag preaches, is very important and is a great step even for acceptance within the same community.

In the end it doesn't matter who makes $100,000 but who can influence in a positive way in a society that is constantly changing, in this I believe. This last season of Rupaul's Drag Race All Stars proved in a way impossible to forget that despite our past we can bring positive things to society and above all learn from our mistakes.

I think it is the most emotional, hard-fought and touching season of the franchise where everything was perfect, with great comebacks, an unforgettable cast where every elimination hurt and a feeling of brotherhood that in the end is what has characterized the community despite the differences present in any human group. That's why this season 6 of Rupaul's Drag Race All Stars leaves me with a good taste in my mouth and without a doubt my score is a 10! 10! 10! Across The Board!

Across The Board!
