Hello Hivers! First of all I want to start by telling you that I didn't like this series at all, this was because I mistakenly believed that it was a children's series. Several friends recommended it to me and I avoided it, all this changed when the closures and the confinement began, leading me to rethink the idea of giving a chance to this type of content.
Then the inevitable happened, one day in March 2020 I started the journey through the first season of Stranger Things being hooked from the start. Everything I thought was going to be this series was fading away giving way to the fascination that each chapter generated me. I discovered myself a lover of a genre that I did not consider as one of my favorites such as science fiction and I entered a whole new world for me.
Then I understood why this series had become the biggest success of the platform that premiered it: it had everything to hook viewers of all ages, tastes and other Strange Things that I invite you to discover in this post.

Hola Hivers! Antes que nada quiero comenzar por contarles de que no me llamaba la atención esta serie en lo absoluto, esto era porque creía erróneamente que era un serie infantil. Varios amigos me la recomendaban y yo la evadía, todo esto cambiara cuando comenzaron los cierres y el confinamiento llevándome a replantearme la idea de darle una oportunidad a este tipo de contenido.
Entonces ocurrió lo inevitable, un día de marzo de 2020 comencé el recorrido por la primera temporada de Stranger Things quedando enganchado desde el inicio. Todo lo que creía iba a ser esta serie se fue desvaneciendo dando lugar a la fascinación que me generaba cada capítulo. Me descubrí amante de un género que no consideraba como de mis favoritos como los es la ciencia ficción y me adentre a un mundo totalmente nuevo para mí.
Entonces entendí porque esta serie se había convertido en el mayor éxito de la plataforma que la estrenó: lo tenía todo para enganchar a los espectadores de todas las edades, gustos y otras Cosas Extrañas que te invito a descubrir en este post.
𝕿𝖊𝖈𝖍𝖓𝖎𝖈𝖆𝖑 𝕯𝖊𝖙𝖆𝖎𝖑𝖘
Stranger Things Is the name of the mythical series premiered in 2016 created and produced by the Duffers Brothers and Shawn Levy respectively, for the estreaming service Netflix. It has 3 seasons of between 8 and 9 episodes each, and stars Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Cara Buono, Matthew Modine, Noah Schnapp and Joe Keery. Along with special appearances by Sadie Sink, Dacre Montgomery, Sean Astin and Paul Reiser.
The soundtrack of the 3 seasons was in charge of the members of the band survive Michael Stein and Kyle Dixon who did a great job emulating the rhythms of the era using in several songs the voices of the actors themselves. It also includes songs by other artists such as Bon Jovi, Olivia Newton-John, Peter Gabriel, Cyndi Lauper, Scorpions and The Police, among others.
Tim Ives was in charge of the cinematography and incorporated the concept of 80's films such as E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial (1982). or Terminator 2: Judgment Day. The cinematography is one of the most important aspects of the story since it is in line with the homage to the great film productions of all times.
The costumes were designed by Kimberly Adams who spent 2 weeks getting information from school yearbooks of the time, using the real clothes worn at the time and not the exaggeration we see in many programs set in that decade.

Cuenta con 3 temporadas de entre 8 y 9 capítulos cada una, y está protagonizada por Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Cara Buono, Matthew Modine, Noah Schnapp y Joe Keery. La banda sonora de las 3 temporadas estuvo a cargo de los integrantes de la banda survive Michael Stein y Kyle Dixon que hicieron un trabajo estupendo emulando los ritmos de la época utilizado en varias canciones las voces de los propios actores. También tiene incorporados temas de otros artistas entre quienes destacan Bon Jovi, Olivia Newton-John, Peter Gabriel, Cyndi Lauper Scorpions y The Police entre otros.
Ives por su parte estuvo a cargo de la fotografía quien incorporo en la trama el concepto de las películas de la década de los 80’s como E.T. El Extraterrestre (1982) o Terminator 2: Judgment Day. La fotografía es uno de los aspectos as importantes de la historia puesto que va en consonancia con el homenaje a las grandes producciones cinematográficas de todos los tiempos.
El vestuario estuvo diseñado por Kimberly Adams que paso 2 semanas obteniendo información en los anuarios escolares de la época, haciendo uso de la ropa real que se usaba en ese entonces y no a la exageración que vemos en muchos programas ambientados en aquella década.

Season 1
Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) was one of the girls kidnapped by Dr. Martin Brenner (Matthew Modine) to do experiments on them. The U.S. government has been conducting tests on children they intern at The National Laboratory in the town of Hawkins, Indiana for use in the cold war. Eleven manages to develop telekinesis and her mind is so powerful that she creates a parallel dimension called the Upside Down whose inhabitant is a monster called The Demogorgon. Tired of being treated like a lab rat, Eleven decides to escape.
But Eleven will not escape alone, the Demogorgon manages to get out to our dimension and manages to catch Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) so his mother Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) in the company of the commissioner Jim Hopper (David Harbour), will begin a relentless search in which little by little they will discover lurid details. Will is part of a gang of friends that includes Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard) , Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo) and Lucas Sanclair (Caleb McLaughlin), when Eleven escapes they find her and realize that everything is connected. At the same time they have to flee from persecution by the government, who want to get Eleven back at any cost.
Others involved in the story are Jhonathan Byers (Charlie Heaton) Will's brother. He manages to document the disappearance of Barbara "Barb" Holland (Shannon Purser) the best friend of Nancy Wheeler (Natalia Dyer) Mike's sister and the girlfriend of Steve Harrington (Joe Keery), the three form an interesting love triangle.
The first season ends with Eleven consumed by the portal, thus saving her friends from the Demogorgon.

Temporada 1
Once (Millie Bobby Brown) fue una de las niñas secuestradas por el Dr. Martin Brenner (Matthew Modine) para hacer experimentos con ellas. El gobierno estadounidense ha estado haciendo pruebas con niños que internan en El laboratorio Nacional del pueblo de Hawkins, Indiana para utilizarlos en la guerra fría. Once logra desarrollar la telequinesis y su mente es tan poderosa que crea un dimensión paralela llamado el Upside Down cuyo habitante es un monstruo llamado El Demogorgon. Cansada de ser tratada como una rata de laboratorio Once decide escapar.
Pero Once no escapara sola, el Demogorgon logra salir a nuestra dimensión y logra atrapar a Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) por lo que su Madre Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) en compañía del comisario Jim Hopper (David Harbour), comenzarán una búsqueda incesante en la que poco a poco descubrirán escabrosos detalles. Will es parte de una pandilla de amigos que incluye a Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard) , Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo) y Lucas Sanclair (Caleb McLaughlin), cuando Once escapa ellos la encuentran y se dan cuenta que todo está conectado. Season 2
The second season explores Eleven's origin how she was kidnapped and who her real mother is. Throughout the season Eleven disappears and will discover with the help of her powers her mother and her sister 8 or Kali (Linnea Berthelsen) a girl who like her was kidnapped, subsequently managing to escape and who now lives in Chicago, where she has formed a gang that manages to outwit the police thanks to her mental powers.
The story is enriched with other new characters including the brothers Billy Hargrove (Dacre Montgomery) and Max Mayfield (Sadie Sink). Max is a rebellious girl who arrives at school to make the gang fall in love, along with them they will start trying to find an explanation for the constant visions of Will who returns being different. Everything changes when they realize that Will has a part of the Demogorgon inside his body and that they will have to fight with a new creature called the Mind Flayer.
Dustin gets a baby Demogorgon who he feeds and hides from his friends. The Demogorgon grows out of proportion and eats his cat causing him to lock him in the attic of his house. With the help of Steve, who is no longer Nancy's boyfriend, they manage to lure the Demogorgon into an ambush, then they realize that there is not just one but an army of them.
Will's mother, Joyce and her new boyfriend Bob Newby (Sean Austin) in their eagerness to save her son, takes him to the Hawkins laboratory, which now has a new manager Dr. Sam Owens (Paul Reiser), to find a solution to his epileptic episodes. But the lab is attacked by an army of Demogorgons from which they must escape.
The second season ends when Eleven with Hopper's company manage to close the portal, after a series of events.
Temporada 2
La segunda temporada explora el origen de Once cómo fue secuestrada y quién es su verdadera madre. Durante toda la temporada Once desaparece y descubrirá con la ayuda de sus poderes a su madre y a su hermana 8 o Kali (Linnea Berthelsen) una niña que al igual que ella fue secuestrada, logrando posteriormente escapar y que ahora vive en Chicago, donde ha formado una pandilla que logra burlar a la policía gracias a su poderes mentales.
La historia es enriquecida con otros nuevos personajes entre ellos los hermanos Billy Hargrove (Dacre Montgomery) y Max Mayfield (Sadie Sink). Max es una chica rebelde que llegara a la escuela a enamorar a la pandilla, junto a ellos comenzarán a tratar de encontrar explicación a las constantes visiones de Will quien regresa siendo diferente. Todo cambia cuando se dan cuenta que Will tiene una parte de El Demogorgon dentro de su cuerpo y que tendrán que luchar con una nueva criatura llamada el Mind Flayer o Desuellamentes en español.
Dustin se consigue con un Demogorgon bebé a quien alimenta y esconde de sus amigos. El Demogorgon crece desproporcionadamente y se come a su gato haciendo que lo encierre en el desván de su casa. Con la ayuda de Steve que ya no es novio de Nancy lograrán atraer al Demogorgon hacia una emboscada, entonces se dan cuenta que no hay uno solo sino un ejército de ellos.
Por su parte la madre de Will, Joyce junto a su nuevo novio Bob Newby (Sean Austin) en su afán de salvar a su hijo, lo lleva al laboratorio de Hawkins que ahora tiene un nuevo encargado el Dr. Sam Owens (Paul Reiser), para encontrar solución a sus episodios epilépticos. Pero el laboratorio es atacado por un ejército de Demogorgons de los que deberán escapar.
La segunda temporada acaba cuando Once con la compañía de Hopper logran cerrar el portal, después de una serie de sucesos.
Season 3
The USSR in its eagerness to defeat the United States manages to reactivate a kind of Bunker under the new Hawkins shopping center, with the help of electromagnetic machines they manage to open the portal again. The Demogorgon will return in a more aggressive way than before, now with the power to impersonate the people they manage to infect. Nancy Wheeler and Jhonatan Byers, who now work for a local newspaper, realize that something strange is happening with the town's rats.
On the other hand, the gang formed by Eleven, Mike, Dustin, Lucas, Will and Max grow up and now being teenagers they will face the common problems of their age. Also Steve who now works in an ice cream shop will meet Robin Buckley (Maya Hawke) she along with Erika (Priah Ferguson) Lucas and Dustin's little sister will form a team that will manage to decipher the Russians who are hiding under the mall, managing to infiltrate in those facilities.
Joyce and Hopper also begin to notice changes in the electromagnetic field of Hawkins and begin to investigate if the lab was still working, encountering some Russians who come to blows with Hopper making them doubt even more. With the help of Murray Bauman (Brett Gelman), an enigmatic journalist specializing in the Cold War, they manage to question Alexei (Alec Utgoff), a Russian dissident who explains the dynamics of the bunker.
Max's brother Billy is attacked by the Mind Flayer making him part of their army. Eleven, Mike, Lucas and Max realize that Billy is now the villain, so they lock him up, provoking the anger of the Mind Flayer, who finally manages to infect Eleven to take away his powers.
In a fun adventure they will all have to fight the monster on the other side from where they are. The third season ends with Hopper dead and Eleven leaving Hawking to the sound of a touching farewell letter.
Temporada 3
La unión soviética en su afán de derrotar a Estados Unidos logra reactivar una especie de Búnker debajo del nuevo centro comercial de Hawkins, con la ayuda de máquinas electromagnéticas logran abrir el portal de nuevo. Los Demogorgon regresarán de una manera más agresiva que antes ahora con el poder de suplantar a las personas que logran infectar. Nancy Wheeler en compañía de Jhonatan Byers que ahora trabajan para un diario local logran darse cuenta que algo extraño está ocurriendo con las ratas del pueblo.
Por su parte la pandilla conformada por Once, Mike, Dustin, Lucas, Will y Max crecen y ahora siendo adolescentes enfrentarán los problemas comunes de la edad. Asimismo Steve que ahora trabaja en una heladeria conocerá a Robin Buckley (Maya Hawke) ella junto a Erika (Priah Ferguson) la hermanita de Lucas y Dustin formarán un equipo que lograrán descifrar a los rusos que se esconden debajo del centro comercial, logrando infiltrarse en esas instalaciones.
Joyce y Hopper también comienzan a notar cambios en el campo electromagnético de Hawkins y comienzan a investigar si el laboratorio seguía trabajando, encontrándose con unos rusos que se enfrentan a golpes con Hopper haciéndolos dudar aún más. Con la ayuda de Murray Bauman (Brett Gelman) un enigmático periodista especialista en la guerra fría logra interpelar a Alexei (Alec Utgoff) un Disidente Ruso que les explica la dinámica del búnker.
Por su parte Billy el hermano de Max es atacado por el Mind Flayer o Desuellamentes convirtiéndolo en parte de su ejército. Once, Mike, Lucas y Max se dan cuenta que ahora Billy es el villano por lo cual lo encerraran provocando la ira del Mind Flayer, que finalmente logra infectar a Once para quitarle sus poderes.
En una divertida aventura todos tendrán que luchar con el mostruo del otro lado desde donde se encuentran. La tercera temporada termina con Hopper muerto y con Once yéndose de Hawking al sonido de una conmovedora carta de despedida.
𝕸𝖞 𝕺𝖕𝖎𝖓𝖎𝖔𝖓
The first thing I liked about Stranger Things was the story's ability to keep you entertained. The first season is a bit slow but it gets better with each episode. Notable were the second and third seasons. The most brilliant thing the Duffer brothers do in this series is to transport you back in time, paying homage to the movies that were made in that decade and making fear something uncomfortable but very entertaining which was the secret of all these early 80's movies.
The set design is brilliant and although I did not live through that era, an American person close to me assured me that this is what the 80's looked like, the games, the clothes and even the candy they consumed. This is worth emphasizing as the series shines in this aspect.
The cast is great with Winona Ryder's characterization, who is always wonderful. Each actor has a magic that manages to go beyond the screen, you get so involved in the story that you make it part of you. Most of the actors are young and were not known before Stranger Things.
I liked that the supposed homosexuality of Will Byers' character was dealt with so subtly, but by the third season everyone has a partner except him. The story falls short in that regard, I know at the time homosexuality was still considered a mental illness but since there are other implausible things why not add one more?
I thought the inclusion of a lesbian character played by Maya Hawke was fantastic because it was inclusive but didn't feel contrived. I was delighted with this girl's performance. Also the character of Steve Harrintong played by Joe Keery is memorable and one of the characters that evolves the most during the plot. From hating him you come to love him, his almost paternal relationship with Dustin is endearing.
𝕸𝖎 𝕺𝖕𝖎𝖓𝖎𝖔𝖓
Lo primero que me gustó de Stranger Things fue la capacidad que tiene la historia de mantenerte entretenido. La primera temporada es un poco lenta pero va mejorando en cada capítulo. Fueron notables la segunda y tercera temporada. Lo más brillante que hacen los hermanos Duffer en esta serie es transportarte en el tiempo, haciendo homenaje al cine que se hacía en esa década y hacer del miedo algo incómodo pero muy entretenido lo cual era el secreto de todas estas películas de principios de los 80’s.
La escenografía es brillante y aunque no viví esa época una persona estadounidense cercana a mí me, me aseguró que así lucían los 80’s, los juegos, la ropa y hasta las golosinas que consumían. Esto vale la pena recalcarlo ya que la serie brilla en este aspecto.
El elenco es estupendo contando con la caracterización de Winona Ryder que siempre esta maravillosa. Cada actor posee una magia que logra traspasar la pantalla, te envuelve tanto la historia que la haces parte de ti. La mayoría de los actores son jóvenes y no eran conocidos antes de Stranger Things.
Me gusto que se tratara la supuesta homosexualidad del personaje de Will Byers con tanta sutileza, pero para la tercera temporada todos tienen pareja menos él. La historia se queda corta en ese sentido, sé que en esa época todavía se consideraba la homosexualidad una enfermedad mental pero ya que hay otras cosas inverosímiles por que no agregar una más?
La inclusión de un personaje lésbico interpretado por Maya Hawke me pareció fantástica, porque fue inclusivo pero no lo sentí artificial. Me quede encantado con la interpretación de esta chica. También el personaje de Steve Harrintong interpretado por Joe Keery es memorable y uno de los que más evoluciona durante la trama. De odiarlo llegas a amarlo, es entrañable su relación casi paternal con Dustin.
Dustin is my favorite character, I found it very inspiring that they have treated the condition suffered by Gaten Matarazzo, cleidocranial dysostosis within the series. This serves to make people with this rare condition visible and normalize the disease.
It's amazing that they included an interracial couple between Max and Lucas again it doesn't seem like something the writers did forced by the inclusive vibe, but arise from the dynamics of the story.
One of the things that I found quite implausible, was that the kids spent so much time away from home, it made me wonder if their parents, didn't know anything about what was going on.
It also gets tiresome that they always save the world from Hawkins. Aren't there more implications in other cities? The world seems to be in the hands of Eleven so I celebrated that at the end of the third season, he ran out of powers and was another hero.
Another aspect I'd like to talk about before I forget, is the little weight given to the families of the gang members. We barely get to know a little about them, it seems to me that we should at least try to include them in the story.
Despite all the flaws you can see Stranger Things is simply fantastic and best of all is that it is for all audiences. It seems unlikely that anyone here hasn't seen it yet, but if so I would invite you to give this story a chance.
After all, it's amazing to see the cast grow from kids to teenagers. It is amazing to see the changes and development of each character. Perhaps they were extremely sexualized and forced to mature quickly, so I hope they were not affected by so much exposure. I in the meantime will continue to wait for season 4 which should be ready this year, Netflix has taken forever to release each season. It's almost 2 years since the last one came out, it's unbelievable that they keep us on tenterhooks for so long. Although with so much time in post production I imagine it will be a great comeback, let's see what surprises they come up with. For me the first 3 seasons are a 10/10.
Dustin es mi personaje favorito, me pareció muy inspirador que hayan tratado la condición que padece Gaten Matarazzo, la disostosis cleidocraneal dentro de la serie. Esto sirve para visibilizar a las personas con esta extraña condición y normalizar la enfermedad.
Es increíble que incluyeran una pareja interracial entre Max y Lucas de nuevo no parece algo que los escritores hayan hecho obligados por la onda inclusiva, sino que surgen de la dinámica de la historia.
Una de las cosas que me pareció bastante inverosímil, fue que los niños pasasen tanto tiempo fuera de sus casas, me hizo preguntar si acaso sus padres, no se enteraban de nada de lo que estaba pasando.
También termina cansando que siempre salven al mundo desde Hawkins. ¿Es que no hay más implicaciones en otras ciudades? El mundo parece estar en las manos de Once por lo que celebré que al final de la tercera temporada, se quedara sin poderes y fuera otro el héroe.
Otro aspecto del que me gustaría hablar antes de que se me olvide, es el poco peso que se les da a las familias de los integrantes de la pandilla. Apenas logramos saber un poco de ellos, me parece que se debería al menos tratar de incluirlos en la historia.
A pesar de todos los fallos que puedan a ver Stranger Things es simplemente fantástica y lo mejor de todo es que es para todo público. Me parece improbable que alguien acá no la haya visto todavía, pero de ser así los invitaría a darle una oportunidad a esta historia.
Después de todo es increíble ver crecer al elenco que comienzan siendo niños y ahora ya son adolescentes. Es increíble ver los cambios y el desarrollo de cada personaje. Quizás fueron extremadamente sexualizados y obligados a madurar con rapidez, así que espero que no les afectara tanta exposición. Yo mientras tanto seguiré esperando la cuarta temporada que debería estar lista este año, Netflix se ha tardado mucho en estrenar cada temporada. Son casi 2 años desde que salió la última, es increíble que nos tengan tanto tiempo en vilo. Aunque con tanto tiempo en post producción me imagino que será un gran regreso, vamos a ver con que sorpresas se vienen. Para mí las primeras 3 temporadas son un 10/10.
