#Oscar2021 The Life Ahead: Celebrating Laura Pausini / La Vida Ante Sí: Celebrando a Laura Pausini. [ENG - ESP]

The 93rd Academy Awards ceremony has been a series of unforeseen events but after a long wait the most important awards of the film industry will finally be held next Sunday April 25 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood with all possible biosecurity precautions to prevent contagions in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic and to my pleasant surprise there is a familiar name on the list of nominees for best original song: the singer Laura Pausini. The song "Io si" which is part of the soundtrack of the streaming service Netflix's Italian film "The Life Ahead" starring movie legend Sophia Loren who returns to the big screen after 10 years of absence.

I had already heard of Pausini's song who also translated a version in Spanish, Italian and French and for being the winner of another important award the Golden Globe for Best Original Song last February, but her success does not start with the fact of being the first Italian singer nominated for an Oscar along with the American singer and songwriter Diane Warren author of the English version "Seen". But who is this singer? She is living the best moment of her career after almost 3 decades of musical career.

Laura Pausini is an Italian singer and songwriter born in 1974 who became known thanks to having won the San Remo Song Festival. Then she would delight us with her crossover in Spanish "Laura Pausini" in 1994 from which would be released hits such as "La Soledad", "Amores Extraños" and "Inolvidable". Naive, bold and with one of the sweetest voices I have ever heard, Laura Pausini was destined for success even though she has always said it was not her dream to be famous.

The Italian star who is expected to sing live at the awards ceremony is the best selling foreign singer in Spain, also in Latin America she has had hits singing the main themes of iconic soap operas such as "The Stepmother" performing her 2004 hit "Víveme" and from "In the Name of Love" performing another 2008 hit "En Cambio No".

Laura has been reviving herself in recent years getting to collaborate with urban Latin music artists, managing to stay relevant despite the machismo and exclusion that women suffer in the music industry. Only in 2018 she was nominated for a Latin Grammy and when she asked her record company to cover her expenses she was denied because according to textual words "'With the age you are and the music that works now, we think you won't win. We're not going to pay for the trip'". Her family covered the expenses by proposing a family trip to Las Vegas, U.S.A and they all went to support her in the Best Traditional Album category for her album "Hazme sentir" which she would eventually win.

Upon learning of her Oscar nomination and her Golden Globe award, the record company's chief executive sent her a bouquet of flowers, which Laura bravely refused. However, the situation was resolved and Pausini will continue with her Discografic.

The English version of "Seen" has lyrics as " When you feel like no one understands you// I will, I will// When you think no love can ever heal you// Mine will, mine will"; " And when you feel like you're invisible // And no one sees you at all// I want you to know// That you're seen " that seem to speak of her family, a fundamental pillar in the artist's career. We can only wait for Sunday night to see if Laura Pausini wins an Oscar, but if she doesn't, it's okay, she is one of my favorite stars and one of the legends of Latin music. Of course I'm betting on her! Also she has the life ahead.

La ceremonia de los Oscar este año ha sorteado una serie de imprevistos pero luego de una larga espera los premios más importantes de la industria cinematográfica finalmente se realizaran el próximo domingo 25 de abril en el Dolby Theatre en Hollywood con todas las precauciones de bioseguridad posibles para prevenir contagios en medio de la pandemia por Covid-19 y para mi grata sorpresa hay un nombre familiar en la lista de nominados a mejor canción original: la cantante Laura Pausini. La canción “Io si” que forma parte de la banda sonora de la película italiana del servicio de streaming Netflix "La vida por delante" protagonizada por la leyenda del cine Sophia Loren quien regresa a la gran pantalla después de 10 años de ausencia.

Ya había escuchado hablar del tema de Pausini que también tradujo una versión en Español, Italiano y Francés y por ser el ganador de otro importante galardón el Globo de Oro a Mejor Canción Original en Febrero Pasado, pero su éxito no comienza por el hecho de ser la primera cantante italiana nominada al Oscar junto con la cantante y compositora estadounidense Diane Warren autora de la versión en inglés “Seen”. Pero ¿quién es esta cantante? que está viviendo el mejor momento de su carrera después de casi 3 décadas de trayectoria musical.

La estrella italiana la cual se espera cante en vivo en la ceremonia de los premios es la cantante extranjera que más discos ha vendido en España, también en Latinoamérica ha tenido éxitos cantando los temas principales de telenovelas icónicas como “La Madrastra” interpretando su hit de 2004 “Víveme” y de “En Nombre del Amor” interpretando otro éxito de 2008 “En Cambio No”.

Laura ha estado reiventándose en los últimos años llegando a colaborar con artistas urbanos de música latina, logrando mantenerse vigente a pesar del machismo y de la exclusión que sufren las mujeres en la industria musical. Solo en el año 2018 fue nominada al Grammy Latino y cuando solicito a su compañía discográfica cubrir sus gastos le fue negada porque según palabras textuales “'Con la edad que tienes y la música que funciona ahora, creemos que no ganarás. No vamos a pagar el viaje'”. Su familia cubrió los gastos del mismo al proponerle un viaje familiar a Las Vegas, Estados Unidos y se fueron todos a apoyarla en la categoría Mejor álbum tradicional por su álbum “Hazme sentir” que finalmente ganaría.

Al enterarse de su nominación a los Oscar y su premiación por los Globos de Oro el ejecutivo principal de la compañía discográfica le envió un ramo de flores el cual Laura rechazo valientemente. Sin embargo dicha situación se lograría solventar y Pausini seguirá con se sello discográfico.

La versión en español de "Yo si" tiene letras hermosas como ”Cuando más te faltan las palabras // Yo estoy, yo estoy // Cuando no valoras lo que logras // Yo estoy, yo estoy"; "Si nadie te ve // Yo sí // Si nadie te siente // Yo sí"; "Y nadie lo cree // Mas, yo sí" que parecieran hablar de su familia pilar fundamental en la carrera de la artista. Solo nos queda esperar la noche del domingo a ver si Laura Pausini se consagra con un Oscar sino lo gana no pasa nada es una de mis estrellas favoritas y una de las leyendas de la música latina. Por supuesto que “Yo si” apuesto por ella!. Además ella tiene a La Vida Ante Sí.
