Crítica de la película Fall
Ayer ya bastante tarde en realidad vimos en casa la película “Fall”, que en español han traducido como “Vértigo” y no me parece una mala adaptación siendo honesto. Teníamos planificado verla hace varios días pero por diferentes razones no habíamos concretado y anoche, por fín después de tanto planearlo pudimos ver la película Como siempre digo, el escrito que leerás a continuación no posee spoilers de modo que puedes leerlo con tranquilidad si aún no has visto la película.
Llegué a esta película porque vi un breve video en tiktok de un comentarista del 7mo arte llamado Javier Ibarreche hablando sobre esta película, aunque él suele hacer spoilers en sus videos, a veces no y comenta con una capacidad de dejar expectativas altas en torno a la pelicula o serie comentada. También un par de días antes mi hermano vio la película y me recomendó. Debo admitir que él es mucho más cinéfilo que yo y creo que tiene muchos más criterios a la hora de criticar una película. Así que si él me la recomendaba, no debía ser mala la película. Ahora bien, sin más preámbulo, comencemos con la sinopsis.
Sinopsis
Las amigas Becky y Hunter tras vivir abrumador duelo intentan superar sus miedos. Juntas se plantean subir a la cima de la torre más alta de telecomunicaciones de Estados Unidos que tiene una altura de 600 metros, y está ubicada en medio del desierto totalmente alejada de la civilización. En esta aventura este par de amigas probaran su fuerza física y mental para lograr el objetivo, pero ocurre algo inesperado que les pone en una situación delicada.
Normalmente suelo quedarme dormido cuando veo películas muy tarde en la noche, pero esta película en verdad atrapa tu atención, en este punto debo decir que es de las pocas películas que te hacen sentir un vacío en el estómago sin necesidad de ser una película de suspenso o terror. Aunque podría catalogarse como una película de suspenso, no es el suspenso habitual, tampoco hablo de suspenso psicológico, ya que hablamos de otro ambiente totalmente diferente. No soy una persona que le teme a las alturas, quizá frente a un abismo me inspira un poco de respeto, pero no llega a ser temor. De hecho, hace un par de días subí al techo de una edificación de tres pisos, y sin problema alguno podía estar cerca del borde y mirar para abajo, esta película explora con tomas increíbles el miedo a las alturas.
Me gustó la fotografía de la película ya que se trata de infundir ese temor y temblor que podemos sentir frente a un vacío a nuestros pies. Ahora bien, si eres una persona con miedo a las alturas quizá esta película te afecte mucho más que a una persona que no tenga esta fobia. Creo que abordaron muy bien este elemento.
Antes de darle una calificación quiero hablar de la trama, aunque no es demasiado elaborada y quizá hasta predecible en ciertos aspectos, no es lo más vital de la película, el epicentro de este film es la sensación de vacío en el estómago que proporcionan ciertas escenas.

Calificó con 7 de 10 porque siento que ha sido muy predecible hasta cierto punto, ya que hay un giro acercándose al final que te dejará con la boca abierta y que me pareció necesario justo cuando pensé que se estaba tornando aburrida la pelicula, pero solo una escena hizo que recobrará mi interés y mi atención plena aunque fuese en los últimos momentos.
Creo que la película es una oda a la tensión, porque más allá de la habilidad actoral del reparto, o del guión. La fotografía juega cierto papel malicioso al momento de suscitar en el espectador un frío y tenso escalofrío por la espalda, aunque se pueda pensar que el director abusa de planos aéreos, no lo considero algo que merezca queja sino que los elabora con la intención de hacernos sentir algo, en mi caso una profunda tensión.
Con respecto al último giro inesperado que debo decir que me sorprendió a pesar que fue algo que imagine previamente, no pensé que sucedería, pero pasó, cierta situación es un clímax interesante en la película y aunque es en los últimos momentos de esta, le da un final que rescata la monotonía que se estaba comenzando a instaurar. Y es por ello que la película no es demasiado extensa.
La recomiendo mucho, a menos que sufras de miedo a las alturas, de ser así puede ser una película en extremo estresante y hasta desagradable sensorialmente hablando Si no has visto esta película debes verla pronto, en el caso que ya la hayas visto, cuéntame en la sección de comentarios que tal te pareció.

Review of movie Fall
Yesterday quite late we actually saw at home the movie "Fall", which in Spanish has been translated as "Vertigo" and I don't think it's a bad adaptation to be honest. We had planned to see it several days ago but for different reasons we hadn't made it and last night, finally after so much planning we were able to see the movie. As I always say, the writing you will read below has no spoilers so you can read it with peace of mind if you haven't seen the movie yet.
I came to this movie because I saw a short video on tiktok of a 7th art commentator named Javier Ibarreche talking about this movie, although he usually does spoilers in his videos, sometimes he doesn't and comments with an ability to leave high expectations around the movie or series commented. Also a couple of days before my brother saw the movie and recommended it to me. I must admit that he is much more of a cinephile than me and I think he has much more criteria when it comes to criticize a movie. So if he recommended it to me, it must not be a bad movie. Now, without further ado, let's start with the synopsis.
Sinopsis
The friends Becky and Hunter, after living through an overwhelming grief, try to overcome their fears. Together they plan to climb to the top of the highest telecommunications tower in the United States that has a height of 600 meters, and is located in the middle of the desert totally away from civilization. In this adventure this pair of friends will test their physical and mental strength to achieve the goal, but something unexpected happens that puts them in a delicate situation.
I usually fall asleep when I watch movies late at night, but this movie really catches your attention, at this point I must say that it is one of the few movies that make you feel an emptiness in your stomach without the need of being a suspense or horror movie. Although it could be catalogued as a suspense movie, it is not the usual suspense, I am not talking about psychological suspense either, since we are talking about another totally different environment. I am not a person who is afraid of heights, maybe facing an abyss inspires me a little respect, but it does not reach the point of fear. In fact, a couple of days ago I climbed to the roof of a three-story building, and without any problem I could stand near the edge and look down, this film explores the fear of heights with incredible shots.
I liked the cinematography of the film as it tries to instill that fear and trembling that we can feel when faced with a void at our feet. Now, if you are a person with a fear of heights perhaps this film will affect you much more than a person who does not have this phobia. I think they addressed this element very well.
Before giving it a rating I want to talk about the plot, although it is not too elaborate and perhaps even predictable in certain aspects, it is not the most vital thing about the film, the epicenter of this film is the feeling of emptiness in the stomach that certain scenes provide.

Rated 7 out of 10 because I feel it has been very predictable to a certain extent, as there is a twist near the end that will leave you with your mouth open and that seemed necessary just when I thought the movie was getting boring, but only one scene made me regain my interest and my full attention even if it was in the last moments.
I think the film is an ode to tension, because beyond the acting ability of the cast, or the script. The cinematography plays a certain mischievous role at the moment of arousing in the viewer a cold and tense shiver down the back, although you may think that the director abuses aerial shots, I do not consider it something that deserves complaint but rather that he elaborates them with the intention of making us feel something, in my case a deep tension.
Regarding the last unexpected twist I must say that I was surprised even though it was something I imagined previously, I did not think it would happen, but it did, a certain situation is an interesting climax in the film and although it is in the last moments of the film, it gives it an ending that rescues the monotony that was beginning to be established. And that is why the film is not too long.
I highly recommend it, unless you suffer from fear of heights, if so it can be an extremely stressful and even sensorially unpleasant movie. If you haven't seen this movie you should see it soon, in case you have already seen it, tell me in the comments section what you thought of it.
