Gente bonita, espero estén muy bien, hoy quiero hablarles de una película que vi hace mucho tiempo y quería ver con muchas ansias, The Northman, pues yo siempre fui muy fan de series como Vikingos y ando pendiente de su serie siguiente titulada Vikingos: Valhalla entonces como al parecer esta película es más real en cuanto contar la historia de los vikingos yo dije “necesito verla”.
Today I want to talk to you about a movie that I saw a long time ago and I wanted to see it very much, The Northman, because I was always a fan of series like Vikings and I am looking forward to its next series called Vikings: Valhalla so as it seems that this movie is more real in terms of telling the story of the Vikings I said "I need to see it".
Aquí contare un poco de que trató la película pero quiero hacer énfasis en lo que me transmitió la película y me hizo recordar mucho cuando vi las series de la misma temática, que de verdad siento que es muy interesante pues es una perspectiva de ver las películas que nos crea un fanatismo errado y ha llevado a cosas terribles, pero si lo concientizamos simplemente disfrutaremos de una película más y seguiremos disfrutando del arte.
Here I will tell a little of what the film was about but I want to emphasize what the film transmitted to me and it reminded me a lot when I saw the series of the same theme, which I really feel is very interesting because it is a perspective of watching movies that creates an erroneous fanaticism and has led to terrible things, but if we become aware of it we will simply enjoy another movie and we will continue enjoying the art.
La película nos muestra a Amleth hijo del Rey Horvendill quien mientras aún niño y no listo para ser rey ve como su tío asesina y traiciona a su padre para quedarse con el reino, buscando también matarlo a él pero este logra huir, haciendo que él crezca con una sed de venganza y odio que le da la determinación para entrenar y buscar cumplir su destino.
The film shows us Amleth son of King Horvendill who while still a child and not ready to be king sees how his uncle murders and betrays his father to keep the kingdom, also seeking to kill him but he manages to flee, causing him to grow up with a thirst for revenge and hatred that gives him the determination to train and seek to fulfill his destiny.

La película nos muestra algo típico que enseñan los vikingos, venganza, con la venganza se resuelve los temas de honor y traición, cuando sabemos que no es así si no que traería más venganza o sangre, pero aquí no los resaltan a un punto de que Amleth entrena y se vuelve un vikingo fuerte todo para encontrar a su tío y tomar venganza, no los muestran como que nosotros debemos empatizar con Amleth y desear que cumpla su venganza porque Fjolnir su tío es un traidor porque es el malo.
The movie shows us something typical that Vikings teach, revenge, with revenge resolves the issues of honor and betrayal, when we know that it is not like that if not it would bring more revenge or blood, but here they don't highlight them to a point that Amleth trains and becomes a strong Viking all to find his uncle and take revenge, they don't show them like we should empathize with Amleth and wish him to fulfill his revenge because Fjolnir his uncle is a traitor because he is the bad guy.
Cuando no es así, me he dado cuenta que en muchas películas, pero más me he dado cuenta en la de vikingos, nos quieren hacer empatizar con un personaje y ver que sus propósitos y metas son buenos, debe cumplirlos porque no les hace un mal a nadie, rogamos que logré su objetivo sin saber o ponernos a analizar de verdad todo el contexto de lo que quiere.
When it is not like that, I have noticed that in many movies, but I have noticed more in the Viking movies, they want us to empathize with a character and see that his purposes and goals are good, he must accomplish them because he does not harm anyone, we pray that he achieves his goal without knowing or really analyzing the whole context of what he wants.
Casi siempre en toda película buscamos un héroe y un villano y más cuando se trata de que hay un conflicto entre dos personas, pero está película me ayudo a resaltar más el hecho de que no siempre es así, simplemente podemos disfrutarnos la historia y no pensar que nadie es bueno ni nadie es malo, sino neutro y determinado a cumplir sus objetivos hasta el final sin importar a quien se llevan de por medio, el propio desarrollo de The Northman me hizo pensar en esto pues, cuando él logra infiltrarse entre la gente de su tío y volver a hablar con su madre descubre algo increíble.
Almost always in every movie we look for a hero and a villain and more when it comes to a conflict between two people, but this movie helped me to highlight the fact that it is not always like that, we can simply enjoy the story and not think that no one is good and no one is bad, but neutral and determined to fulfill their goals to the end no matter who they get in the way, the very development of The Northman made me think about this because when he manages to infiltrate among his uncle's people and talk to his mother again he discovers something incredible.
Su madre jamás lo quiso de verdad porque jamás amo al Rey Horvendill, pues este la obligó a casarse con él ya que ella era una simple esclava que a él le gustó, jamás hubo amor en esa pareja pero ella si se enamoró de Fjolnir pues la trató bien y también demostraba hasta ser mejor rey que su hermano pues tenía muchos seguidores que no dudaron en luchar a su lado para quedarse con el reino, entonces al final el nuestro protagonista se estaba vengando de alguien que la verdad no valía mucho lo que quería mostrar, no era tan bueno como decía ser.
His mother never really loved him because she never loved King Horvendill, because he forced her to marry him since she was a simple slave that he liked, there was never love in that couple but she did fall in love with Fjolnir because he treated her well and also proved to be even better king than his brother because he had many followers who did not hesitate to fight by his side to keep the kingdom, so in the end our protagonist was taking revenge on someone who really was not worth much what he wanted to show, he was not as good as he claimed to be.
Pero igual la venganza tenía que seguir, porque lo prometió que iba a vengar el nombre de su padre ya allí es sin importar que haya hecho o no, allí entonces nos preguntamos ¿Entonces los buenos fueron siempre los que estuvieron a favor de Fjolnir? Tampoco podría decir que si, porque él también como vikingo mostró lados que podríamos decir que esta mal, por un lado nos muestra que mata a su hermano porque siente que es mal rey y mal esposo pero también al volverse rey no logra quedarse con su reino pues Harald se lo quitó.
Pero igual la venganza tenía que seguir, porque lo prometió que iba a vengar el nombre de su padre ya allí es sin importar que haya hecho o no, allí entonces nos preguntamos ¿Entonces los buenos fueron siempre los que estuvieron a favor de Fjolnir? Tampoco podría decir que si, porque él también como vikingo mostró lados que podríamos decir que esta mal, por un lado nos muestra que mata a su hermano porque siente que es mal rey y mal esposo pero también al volverse rey no logra quedarse con su reino pues Harald se lo quitó.
También el típico libido que tiene todo vikingo por una mujer diferente, pues conocemos a Olga (La fabulosa de Anya Taylor) y vemos que por ser una esclava llamativa a Fjolnir le llama la atención y la quiere más cerca, también al final cuando Amleth libera a los esclavos de Fjolnir estos los primero que hacen es quemar las casas y las cosas de él, pues los trataba como tal esclavos entonces... ¿Qué diferencia había entre Fjolnir y Horvendill? Pues para mi ninguna, solo que uno logro persuadir y matar al otro para tener poder.
Also the typical passion that every Viking has for a different woman, because we meet Olga (Anya Taylor's fabulous) and we see that for being a striking slave Fjolnir attracts her attention and wants her closer, also at the end when Amleth frees Fjolnir's slaves the first thing they do is to burn his houses and things, because he treated them as slaves... then... What was the difference between Fjolnir and Horvendill? Well, none for me, only that one managed to persuade and kill the other to have power.
Pero luego como dejo a un testigo y vengador suelto pues todo se le vino encima, con esa pregunta que hice es donde caigo que al final la película no es para estar de acuerdo con uno o con el otro, si no disfrutar el trayecto de como logró pasar de ser un niño que nadaba solo hacia otro país a ser un vikingo que logró vengar a su padre y hacer sufrir a cada miembro que le deseo el mal, así parezca justo o no, así ellos lo merecían o no.
But then as he let a witness and avenger loose, everything came down on him, with that question I asked is where I fall that in the end the film is not to agree with one or the other, if not enjoy the journey of how he managed to go from being a boy who swam alone to another country to be a Viking who managed to avenge his father and make every member suffer who wished him evil, whether it seems fair or not, whether they deserved it or not.
Ya para terminar quiero mencionar, que hago este análisis así también para que lo tomen con otras películas que no son sobre vikingos, “El Joker” es un excelente ejemplo, porque empatizar con personajes es increíble, ver injusticias y desear que sean pagadas también es algo que nos puede transmitir y atrapar demasiado de la película pero luego al terminar todo, no romantizar lo que hace el personaje, nada peor que entenderlo, romantizarlo y justificarlo para tal vez repetirlo.
Finally, I want to mention that I make this analysis also to be taken with other movies that are not about Vikings, "The Joker" is an excellent example, because to empathize with characters is incredible, to see injustices and wish that they are paid is also something that can transmit and catch us too much of the film but then at the end of everything, not romanticize what the character does, nothing worse than to understand it, romanticize it and justify it to maybe repeat it.
Eso sería todo por hoy ¿Vieron esta película? que les pareció, yo le doy un 10/10 porque de verdad si se trata de mostrarme la cultura y mentalidad de un vikingo esto fue diferente y más específico, las fotografías y soudtrack de la película misma es una obra de arte y siento que no dejaron ningún cabo suelto como para hacer otra película, sino simplemente hacer otra a parte sobre algún otro vikingo.
