Welcome back to my blog, guys! Today I bring you the continuation of my series of posts about cinema known as CINÉFILAZ as a play on words between the words “Cinéfilo” and my artist name “ILAZ”; today the movie I have decided to bring you for analysis is one that really has a lot of very interesting elements to make a very epic dialogue.
Today I bring you the movie known as “Saltburn”, starring Barry Keoghan and with an incredibly epic cast, including our great Aemond Targaryen (Ewan Mitchell), I'm going to talk about many specific things, but first, let's go with the plot, so, let's start!

El día de hoy les traigo la continuación de mi serie de publicaciones sobre cine conocido como CINÉFILAZ como juego de palabras entre las palabras "Cinéfilo" y mi nombre de artista "ILAZ"; hoy la película que he decidido traerles para hacer el análisis es una que de verdad tiene un montón de elementos muy interesantes para hacer un diálogo muy épico.
Hoy les traigo la película conocida como "Saltburn", protagonizada por Barry Keoghan y con un cast increíblemente épico, entre los que se encuentran inclusive nuestro gran Aemond Targaryen (Ewan Mitchell), voy a hablar de muchas cosas puntuales, pero primero, vamos con la trama, así que, ¡comencemos!

The content you will see in this review is based on my personal criteria after having seen the movie/series in question, so, if you haven't seen it, I recommend you not to continue reading unless you want to take several spoilers of the plot.

The plot of this movie is something really simple, but as we get further into the post, you will see that the plot twists are AMAZING and we will all end up freaking out about it, but I won't get ahead of myself, so let's go from the beginning.
We have Oliver Quick (Barry Keoghan), a pretty introverted kid who gets to see classes like any American kid and starts living the college life but through the perspective of a nerd with an asocial touch within his personality, he starts hanging out with a guy who is pretty nerdy like him and hates popular kids, the classic teen movie plot, but everything changes when Oliver meets the next person:
Yes, the actor that many people know from the series “Euphoria” where he plays the role of Nate Jacobs but here his name is Felix Catton, the classic popular and wealthy guy who spends his time from party to party, with many friends, lots of alcohol and many drugs; Oliver starts to hang out with him and they begin to develop a somewhat curious friendship in which, through knowing Oliver's personal history, Felix develops much empathy for him and invites him to his house to meet his family in Saltburn.
Here begins another movie, because first we start seeing a classic upper class family, with many prejudices, issues of classism, racism, very strange ways of being for their ostentatious lives, but Oliver is adapting very well to the whole scenario, to the point that it is practically adopted, as the family knows the tragic story that he tells them about his chaotic family that did not give him love, tells them that he has never had good relationships with his parents, that he is an outcast and a lot of things that later ends up being a total fallacy.
Oliver starts to become a manipulative machine, discovering the secrets and weaknesses of each of the family members in Saltburn and starts to take over the swanky lifestyle, and then begins the plot twist of the movie that ends up being something that, ultimately, no one could expect just by watching the beginning of the movie: Oliver is a total psychopath.
Oliver starts to take over the house, starts to foment a lot of trouble among Felix's family members and starts a strange level of tension that many people can notice, except for Felix, but everything is going according to his plan until Oliver finds himself in an awkward situation when he goes to visit his family, where Felix learns the real backstory that Oliver has; It turns out that his family is really very attentive, very loving and Oliver simply neglected them when he went away to study, he decided not to have contact with them anymore and the lie that he tried to sustain in order to be pitiful and get a position in a house that could give him a lot of comforts and things that he would have never imagined in his life to have is unmasked.
When this happens, a war begins to see who ends up taking over the family and Oliver begins to become much darker, begins to murder people who can get in the way of his plan to get practically the adjudication of all Saltburn and everything goes completely wonderfully, having as “ally” Felix's mother, which ends up having a somewhat suspicious affection for Oliver.
Then, at the end, we can see an Oliver who has too many psychological problems, including necrophilia and a morbid desire to take over Saltburn at any cost, a plot that seemed simple and ended up being a story with one of the best plot twists I've seen in a long time.
La trama de esta película es algo verdaderamente simple, pero que, a medida que vayamos avanzando en el post, verán que los giros argumentales son INCREÍBLES y terminaremos todos dementes al respecto, pero no me voy a adelantar, así que vamos desde el comienzo.
Tenemos a Oliver Quick (Barry Keoghan), un chico bastante introvertido que llega a ver clases como cualquier chico estadounidense y empieza a vivir la vida universitaria pero a través de la perspectiva de un nerd con un toque asocial dentro de su personalidad, se empieza a juntar con un chico que es bastante nerd como él y odia a los chicos populares, el clásico plot de una película de adolescentes, pero todo cambia cuando Oliver conoce a la siguiente persona:
Sí, el actor que muchas personas conocen por la serie "Euforia" donde se pone en la piel de Nate Jacobs pero aquí su nombre es Félix Catton, el clásico chico popular y adinerado que se la pasa de fiesta en fiesta, con muchos amigos, mucho alcohol y muchas drogas; Oliver se empieza a juntar con él y comienzan a desarrollar una amistad un tanto curiosa en la cuál, a través de conocer la historia personal de Oliver, Félix desarrolla mucha empatía por él y lo invita a su casa para que conozca a su familia en Saltburn.
Aquí comienza otra película, porque primero comenzamos viendo una clásica familia de clase alta, con muchos prejuicios, temas de clasismo, racismo, formas muy extrañas de ser por sus vidas ostentosas, pero Oliver se va adaptando muy bien a todo el escenario, al punto de que es prácticamente adoptado, ya que la familia conoce la trágica historia que él les va contando sobre su familia caótica que no le dió cariño, les dice que él nunca ha tenido buenas relaciones con sus padres, que es un marginado y un montón de cosas que más adelante termina siendo una total falacia.
Oliver empieza a volverse una máquina manipuladora, descubriendo los secretos y las debilidades de cada uno de los miembros de la familia en Saltburn y empieza a apoderarse del estilo de vida ostentoso, y luego comienza el plot twist de la película que termina siendo algo que, en definitiva, nadie podría esperarse solo con ver el inicio de la misma: Oliver es un psicópata total.
Oliver empieza a apoderarse de la casa, comienza a fomentar muchos problemas entre los familiares de Félix y comienza un nivel de tensión extraño que muchas personas pueden notar, a excepción de Félix, pero todo va saliendo acorde a su plan hasta que Oliver se ve en una situación incómoda al ir a visitar a su familia, donde Félix conoce la verdadera historia de trasfondo que tiene Oliver; resulta que su familia realmente es muy atenta, es muy amorosa y Oliver simplemente los descuidó al irse a estudiar, decidió no tener más contacto con ellos por voluntad y se desenmascara la mentira que trató de sostener para dar lástima y obtener un puesto en una casa que podría darle un montón de comodidades y cosas que jamás en su vida habría imaginado tener.
Cuando sucede esto, empieza una guerra por ver quién termina apoderándose de la familia y Oliver empieza a tornarse mucho más oscuro, comienza a asesinar a las personas que pueden interponerse en su plan de obtener prácticamente la adjudicación de todo Saltburn y todo le sale completamente de maravilla, teniendo como "aliada" a la madre de Félix, la cuál termina teniendo un cariño un tanto sospechoso por Oliver.
Luego, al final, podemos ver a un Oliver que tiene demasiados problemas psicológicos, entre los que se incluyen la necrofilia y el deseo mórbido de adueñarse de Saltburn cueste lo que cueste, un plot que parecía simple y terminó siendo una historia con uno de los mejores plot twist que he visto en mucho tiempo.

Each landscape is an extreme madness; the cinematography was very meticulous in showing us the social decline that Oliver possesses over time by the fact of being incredibly Machiavellian and dark, totally selfish, to the point that he could be considered a narcissist of colossal levels, unafraid to murder people to reach his goal.
Barry's performance is of an elite category, because in his facet of “nice, shy, nerdy kid” is too convincing and his drastic change in his way of being when he transforms into a psychopath is impressive, it generates a lot of tension to see how he deforms his personality, how he takes over all people, how he shows contempt for upper class people, as if he had an imminent grudge against them and his necrophiliac side is incredibly disturbing but despite everything he does it in a subtle way, as if he were an artist of morbidity, it's brilliant.
At first the film seems a bit monotonous because you think you are facing a classic teen movie of sex, alcohol, drugs and family problems of all kinds, but the pace varies very subtly without ever stop involving you, you do not lose the thread of what is happening, there are no very aggressive moments or very direct changes in the rhythm of the plot and never generate suspicions of what comes later, it is too shocking how they make you see that you always had the details in front of you but you did not notice until the end, a masterful script.
Cada paisaje es una extrema locura; la dirección de fotografía se encargó de manera muy meticulosa de mostrarnos el declive social que posee Oliver a través del tiempo por el hecho de ser increíblemente maquiavélico y oscuro, totalmente egoísta, al punto de que podría considerarse un narcisista de niveles colosales, sin miedo a asesinar gente por llegar a su objetivo.
La actuación de Barry es de una categoría de élite, porque en su faceta de "niño bueno, tímido y nerd" es demasiado convincente y su cambio drástico en su manera de ser al momento de transformarse en un psicópata es impresionante, te genera mucha tensión el ver cómo va deformando su personalidad, el cómo se apodera de todas las personas, el cómo muestra el desprecio por las personas de clase alta, como si les tuviera un rencor inminente y su faceta de necrofílico es algo increíblemente perturbador pero a pesar de todo lo realiza de una manera sutil, como si de un artista del morbo se tratase, es brillante.
Al principio la película te va pareciendo un poco monótona porque piensas que estás de cara a una clásica película adolescente de sexo, alcohol, drogas y problemas familiares de toda índole, pero el ritmo va variando de forma muy sutil sin dejar de envolverte jamás, no pierdes el hilo de lo que está sucediendo, no hay momentos muy agresivos o cambios muy directos en el ritmo de la trama y nunca te generan sospechas de lo que viene más adelante, es demasiado impactante el cómo te hacen ver que siempre tuviste los detalles de frente pero no lo notaste sino hasta el final, un guión magistral.

Maybe you will consider it very exaggerated on my part, but in a completely objective way, there is nothing in this movie that I didn't like, it is simply a work that I had some time without seeing and I must say that I always have a critical eye for many things, but there are no details that make you say “well, this could have been better”, not at all, under my perspective it is a work that many people will enjoy.
Maybe people who don't like disturbing things or who are very sensitive may not enjoy it too much, because it is quite graphic even if it is subtly with themes that are quite dark and taboo within society, but that's what it's about, showing the philosophy of a psychopath, sociopath and narcissist.
Tal vez lo consideren muy exagerado de mi parte, pero de forma completamente objetiva, no hay nada en esta película que no me gustara, es simplemente una obra de las que tenía tiempo sin ver y debo decir que yo siempre tengo un ojo crítico para muchas cosas, pero no hay detalles que te hagan decir "bueno, esto pudo ser mejor", en absoluto, bajo mi perspectiva es una obra que muchas personas disfrutarán.
Tal vez las personas que no les gusten las cosas perturbadoras o que sean muy sensibles puede que no la disfruten demasiado, porque sí es bastante gráfica aunque sea sutilmente con temas que son bastante oscuros y tabúes dentro de la sociedad, pero de eso se trata, de mostrar la filosofía de un psicópata, sociópata y narcisista.

Undoubtedly, this film is transcendental, it is an accumulation of very good cinematographic practices, a solid script, simply majestic performances, I recommend it 1000% for all those people who love drama, suspense and certain disturbing things through a good direction of photography, everything is shocking in this film and I do not know if maybe it is a satire towards the upper class people but in case that is the fact, they approached it in an impeccable way, without any loss.

Sin lugar a dudas, esta película es trascendental, es un cúmulo de muy buenas prácticas cinematográficas, un guión sólido, actuaciones simplemente majestuosas, la recomiendo al 1000% para todas esas personas amantes del drama, del suspenso y de ciertas cosas perturbadoras a través de una buena dirección de fotografía, todo es impactante en esta película y no sé si tal vez sea una sátira hacia las personas clase alta pero en caso tal de ser ese el hecho, lo abordaron de una manera impecable, sin pérdida alguna.
