The series was somehow enjoyable but not as great as I was expecting it to be. It did have some genius in it given the fact it explored a lot of different stories with unique villains and the futuristic setting was cool, the main problem for me was the bad dialogues at times and one particular character that was very annoying.
Since that time I had already decided to watch the film after finishing the series but since I was left with a mild feeling of disappointment I delayed the watching of the film until now. The idea behind Cowboy Bebop certainly has potential and there is even a live-action series produced by Netflix that will be released in November. I believe the negative aspects of the original anime series are hard to replicate in a live-action production so I am expecting that new remake to be better than the original.
What was the movie about?
The movie tells the story of a new villain the bounty hunters need to capture. These events are supposed to happen after the events in the series, but since this production was originally designed to work as some type of anthology, I believe people can watch the movie first. However, I would recommend watching the series because this is where the characters are properly introduced and where the viewer can get to know each of them. In the series, the stories can work as independent from each other for the most part though.
These bounty hunters live in their huge space ship and they sometimes have financial problems, which is why they need to be constantly looking for new missions with the goal of collecting the payment. Their missions are about hunting down all types of criminals and terrorists and deliver them to the law. Sometimes they need to fight with easy criminals but the most important ones are extremely talented and a real challenge to capture.
What I liked the most about the series was the variety and originality in some of the villains, there were even a couple of beings that could only exist in a futuristic society and that part of the show was very cool. In the film, the villain is a mysterious terrorist that has deadly intentions to pretty much all of the people in the world.
The danger in this story is biological. There is a secret development from a dubious corporation of a pathogen that was meant to be used as some type of weapon. Since this was all secret the people involved in it didn't want anyone learning about this horrible weapon, so they are always making sure this information remains hidden.
La serie fue de alguna manera disfrutable, pero no tan buena como esperaba. Tenía algo de genialidad dado el hecho de que exploró muchas historias diferentes con villanos únicos y el escenario futurista fue genial, el principal problema para mí fueron los malos diálogos a veces y un personaje en particular que era muy molesto.
Desde aquel momento ya me había decidido a ver la película después de terminar la serie pero como me quedé con un leve sentimiento de decepción retrasé ver la película hasta ahora. La idea detrás de Cowboy Bebop ciertamente tiene potencial e incluso hay una serie de acción en vivo producida por Netflix que se lanzará en noviembre. Creo que los aspectos negativos de la serie de anime original son difíciles de replicar en una producción de acción en vivo, así que espero que ese nuevo remake sea mejor que el original.

El peligro de esta historia es biológico. Hay un desarrollo secreto de una dudosa corporación de un patógeno que estaba destinado a ser utilizado como algún tipo de arma. Dado que todo esto era secreto, las personas involucradas no querían que nadie se enterara de esta horrible arma, por lo que siempre se aseguran de que esta información permanezca oculta.
The bounty hunters get involved in all of this after a reward is announced for anyone who manages to capture a terrorist who recently caused an explosion and killed hundreds of people. The bounty hunters have a young hacker, who by the way, is the character I always say is annoying. With the help of this hacker, they will gain access to sufficient information that will help them in tracking down the people responsible for the explosion.
The 3 adult bounty hunters will follow different paths, trying to find the missing pieces of the puzzle and capture the crazy terrorist, in their journey, they will be able to find a sample of the pathogen, and they will also be able to track down one associate of the terrorist.
One of them manages to infiltrate the corporation that created the pathogen, and as they go along collecting information from here and there, they finally manage to locate the terrorist and to discover his evil plans. This was a very challenging and talented villain, an ex-military with a dark and tragic past.
There will be several confrontations with this character, and it would have been even better for there to be more dramatic moments such as an important death but in this show, the main characters never die even though they are constantly risking their lives and having near-death experiences.
The story had several good moments, and thanks to the movie's length, there was enough time to explore the plot more deeply which couldn't be done in the original series. However, I did feel the pace was too slow at times.
For me, this movie was better than the average of the episodes from the original show and it was certainly a cool scifi-action production. I am excited about the live-action series and will be certainly watching it when it is released.
Los cazarrecompensas se involucran en todo esto después de que se anuncia una recompensa para cualquiera que logre capturar a un terrorista que recientemente causó una explosión y mató a cientos de personas. Los cazarrecompensas tienen un joven hacker, que por cierto, es el personaje que siempre digo que es molesto. Con la ayuda de este pirata informático, obtendrán acceso a información suficiente que les ayudará a localizar a las personas responsables de la explosión.
Los 3 cazarrecompensas adultos seguirán diferentes caminos, tratando de encontrar las piezas faltantes del rompecabezas y capturar al terrorista loco, en su aventura, podrán encontrar una muestra del patógeno, y también podrán rastrear un asociado del terrorista.

Habrá varios enfrentamientos con este personaje, y hubiera sido mejor que hubiera momentos más dramáticos como una muerte importante, pero en este programa, los personajes principales nunca mueren a pesar de que constantemente están arriesgando sus vidas y teniendo experiencias cercanas a la muerte.
La historia tuvo varios buenos momentos y, gracias a la duración de la película, hubo tiempo suficiente para explorar la trama más profundamente, lo que no se podía hacer en la serie original. Sin embargo, sentí que el ritmo era demasiado lento a veces.

The director of the film is Shin'ichirô Watanabe who previously directed the series and has a lot of experience directing animated productions. Besides Cowboy Bebop he has also worked in the Star Driver, Kids on the Slope, among many others.
Hajime Yatate is the main creator of Cowboy Bebop's stories. He is a prominent writer from the anime industry and as a writer, he has worked in more than 100 productions so far. Some examples of his other works are the series The Girl Who Leapt Through Space, Mobile Suit Gundam 00, and Cluster Edge.
The screenplay writer was Keiko Nobumoto. He will also be working in the live-action series of Cowboy Bebop just like Hajime Yatate. In the past, he has worked as a writer in many series and movies such as Wolf's Rain, Tokyo Godfathers, and Carole & Tuesday.
How was the quality of the animation and the writing?
The animation was completely acceptable given the fact this is a production from 20 years ago. It was the same quality as the series, and this is good enough for there to be cool action scenes and an interesting world to explore.
The writing was also good, I don't understand why the writers insist in given importance to a very silly and annoying character, but apart from that, the story was entertaining and the villain was challenging to defeat.
Final thoughts
The film was better than the series in my opinion. The dialogues were very fun and fluid, especially during the first half of the movie, and it was cool to see more of this futuristic world and the craziness of it.
I believe this is a production that will be mostly enjoyed by people who can tolerate some of the silliness that is included in anime productions from time to time. As mentioned before, there is a silly character that works and lives with the bounty hunters and her skills are usually very useful but due to her young age, she does a lot of silly things that spoil the seriousness of the story. There might be viewers that enjoy this, but I believe the majority will dislike it. Despite that, the series and film have many cool things and can be enjoyable for the most part.

Creo que esta es una producción que será disfrutada principalmente por personas que pueden tolerar algunas de las tonterías que se incluyen en las producciones de anime de vez en cuando. Como se mencionó anteriormente, hay un personaje tonto que trabaja y vive con los cazarrecompensas y sus habilidades suelen ser muy útiles pero debido a su corta edad, hace muchas tonterías que estropean la seriedad de la historia. Puede que haya espectadores que disfruten de esto, pero creo que a la mayoría no le gustará. A pesar de eso, la serie y la película tienen muchas cosas interesantes y pueden ser agradables en su mayor parte.
