Saludos para todos mis amigos de esta comunidad de Movies and TV Shows. En esta ocasión les traigo una pequeña reseña de la película “Patch Adams”. Espero que puedan disfrutarla.

Después de varios intentos fallidos por quitarse la vida, un hombre que al parecer ha perdido el rumbo y sentido de su destino decide alojarse por voluntad propia en un instituto mental, un lugar donde espera refugiarse en su tristeza y frustración hasta su fin, sin saber que lo que realmente encontrará será la luz que lo llevará a encender una vez más la razón de su existir.
Es así como conocemos a Hunter Adams (Robin Williams), un hombre que vagaba en su presencia sin saber qué hacer con su vida, hasta toparse con un extraño personaje llamado Arthur (Harold Gould) que le ayudará a descubrir un don especial que nunca había visto y que siempre llevó dentro de sí, un sentimiento que lo impulsará a realizar la más hermosa obra que pueda existir, y es la de ayudar a las personas. Con esto, nuestro personaje ya bastante adulto inicia una carrera que le permitirá brindarle apoyo a los más necesitados, y así sin perder más tiempo decide ir a la universidad y tomar una de las carreras más larga y más hermosa que puede existir: medicina.
After several failed attempts to take his own life, a man who seems to have lost the direction and sense of his destiny decides to stay at a mental institution, a place where he hopes to take refuge in his sadness and frustration until the end, without knowing that what he will really find will be the light that will lead him to ignite once again the reason for his existence.
This is how we meet Hunter Adams (Robin Williams), a man who wandered in his presence without knowing what to do with his life, until he meets a strange character named Arthur (Harold Gould) who will help him discover a special gift that he had never seen and that he always carried inside him, a feeling that will drive him to perform the most beautiful work that can exist, and that is to help people. With this, our character, now quite adult, begins a career that will allow him to provide support to those in need, and so without wasting any more time he decides to go to college and take one of the longest and most beautiful careers that can exist: medicine.
En cuestión de minutos veremos a un hombre que dormía en sus fracasos y ahora siente unas ganas de comerse al mundo con tal de poder ayudar a las personas, y es así como con irreverencia y valentía Patch Adams empieza una odisea nada fácil para él, donde se pondrá a prueba su ímpetu de luchador que ha renacido desde que decidió cambiar el instituto mental por una universidad.
Esta película, definida bajo el género de drama/comedía, nos abrirá las puertas a una fascinante historia a las que se unirán las vidas de Carin (Monica Fisher), una mujer maltratada por heridas del pasado que piensa borrarlas dedicándose a lo que más desea en su vida: llegar a ser doctor. También conoceremos a Truman (Daniel London) quien será el amigo y cómplice de Patch en sus múltiples ocurrencias, y teniendo espacio para uno más, conocemos al compañero de cuarto de Patch quien es Mitch (Philip Seymour Hoffman), un personaje que representa a ese estudiante sobresaliente e intelectual que presume de su inteligencia y carece de algo tan importante como lo es la humildad.
In a matter of minutes we will see a man who slept in his failures and now feels the desire to eat the world in order to help people, and this is how with irreverence and courage Patch Adams begins an odyssey that is not easy for him, where his fighting spirit that has been reborn since he decided to change the mental institute for a university will be put to the test.
This film, defined under the genre of drama/comedy, will open the doors to a fascinating story that will join the lives of Carin (Monica Fisher), a woman battered by past wounds who intends to erase them by dedicating herself to what she wants most in her life: to become a doctor. We will also meet Truman (Daniel London) who will be Patch's friend and accomplice in his multiple occurrences, and having room for one more, we meet Patch's roommate Mitch (Philip Seymour Hoffman), a character who represents that outstanding and intellectual student who boasts of his intelligence and lacks something as important as humility.
La película también nos muestra la realidad que viven muchos estudiantes universitarios: la competitividad, la relación con los profesores, los grupos de estudios y la amistad que se va forjando y estrechando a medida que avanzan con sus clases, percibiendo de igual forma la saturada vida y el estrés que genera el cursar una carrera tan exigente como lo es la medicina.
A pesar de que he visto esta película muchas veces, siento que cada vez aprendo más cosas de ellas, y es que realmente está cargada de muchos argumentos que alimentan la historia de los personajes, enfocando principalmente la atención en todo lo que es capaz de hacer una persona cuando tiene la confianza y la determinación de alcanzar sus sueños, de llegar a esa meta que hace algún tiempo ni siquiera existía.
The film also shows us the reality that many university students live: the competitiveness, the relationship with the professors, the study groups and the friendship that is forged and strengthened as they advance with their classes, perceiving in the same way the saturated life and the stress that comes from studying a career as demanding as medicine.
Although I have seen this film many times, I feel that I learn more and more things from it, and it is really loaded with many arguments that feed the story of the characters, focusing mainly on everything a person is capable of doing when they have the confidence and determination to achieve their dreams, to reach that goal that some time ago did not even exist.
Un papel determinante dentro de la historia es la de uno de los directores, llamado Dean Walcott (Bob Gunton) a quien no parece gustarle la personalidad de Patch Adams ni su forma de ver el camino para llegar a ser un buen doctor. Durante toda la película veremos a este personaje querer truncar el éxito de Patch, llegando incluso al más tonto y malvado reporte que atentará contra su posible graduación. ¿Logrará valerse este doctor de su poder y posición para vencer a Patch Adams? Esta será una contienda con un final digno para reflexionar.
Son muchas las enseñanzas que se pueden extraer de esta película. Una de ellas es la de aceptar que por encima de lo intelectual siempre debe estar lo humano, y que no hay inteligencia que valga cuando el amor, la empatía y la humildad no forman parte de nuestra personalidad. Muchas veces los estudios superiores tienden a convertirnos en seres orgullosos y egoístas dispuestos a lo que sea con tal de ser lo mejor, cuando lo cierto es que la meta en la vida suele ser muy espaciosa y se disfruta mejor cuando llegamos en compañía.
A determining role in the story is that of one of the directors, Dean Walcott (Bob Gunton), who does not seem to like Patch Adams' personality or his way of seeing the path to become a good doctor. Throughout the film we will see this character trying to truncate Patch's success, even reaching the most foolish and evil report that will attempt against his possible graduation. Will this doctor be able to use his power and position to defeat Patch Adams? This will be a contest with an ending worthy of reflection.
There are many lessons to be learned from this film. One of them is to accept that the human being must always be above the intellectual, and that there is no intelligence when love, empathy and humility are not part of our personality. Many times higher education tends to turn us into proud and selfish beings willing to do anything to be the best, when the truth is that the goal in life is usually very spacious and is best enjoyed when we arrive in company.
Se destaca la relación de medico/paciente y lo que puede llegar a sentir y manifestar un doctor por aquellos que padecen y sufren en un hospital. No se trata de osadía ni de pasar por alto los parámetros de la medicina, sino de saber manifestar un interés genuino por el bienestar de los demás.
Ya que la película está basada en hechos reales, me impresiona la vida de Patch, una persona que sintió que ya no valía la pena vivir, que se levantó y pudo superar muchos obstáculos, y que cuando parecía que todo marchaba bien, entonces sufrió una herida que convirtió ese gran horizonte frente a él como un abismo al cual quería saltar para no continuar. En este punto pienso que está la escena más dolorosa, injusta y triste que tuvo que experimentar Patch Adams en ese trayecto de su vida.
Cuando tienes un corazón tan grande como tu determinación de alcanzar lo que deseas, logras encontrar amigos en lugares donde nunca lo imaginaste y de una forma tan especial que jamás pensaste. Durante toda la trama esto será un tema que se repetirá con muchos personajes y se convertirá en una conexión directa entre Patch y todos aquellos que lo rodean.
It highlights the doctor/patient relationship and what a doctor can feel and express for those who suffer and suffer in a hospital. It is not about daring or overlooking the parameters of medicine, but about knowing how to show genuine concern for the welfare of others.
Since the film is based on real events, I am impressed by the life of Patch, a person who felt that life was no longer worth living, who stood up and was able to overcome many obstacles, and when it seemed that everything was going well, then he suffered a wound that turned that great horizon in front of him into an abyss into which he wanted to jump in order not to continue. At this point I think this is the most painful, unfair and sad scene that Patch Adams had to experience in his life's journey.
When you have a heart as big as your determination to achieve what you want, you manage to find friends in places you never imagined and in a way you never thought possible. Throughout the plot this will be a theme that will be repeated with many characters and will become a direct connection between Patch and all those around him.
“Patch Adams” es una película que se puede disfrutar en familia y su mensaje es capaz de avivar aún más los deseos de aquellos que estén a punto de cursar una carrera universitaria o ya se encuentren en ella. El carisma que le imprime Robin a su personaje refleja ese espíritu luchador, valiente, audaz, alegre y creativo que se necesita para no declinar ante las pruebas que se podrán presentar.
A veces no se trata de sobresalir por encima de todos los demás sino de brillar con luz propia y dar lo mejor de sí mismo, y que dicha luz no trate de opacar a los demás sino de acobijar a todos los que puedan acercarse a ti, con el mismo cariño y la misma pasión que nos lleve a ser mejores en lo que deseamos ser en la vida.
“Patch Adams” es una de mis películas favoritas porque me enseña que el verdadero éxito no se condiciona por un triste pasado y que en el camino para alcanzarlo siempre habrá muchos obstáculos que querrán derribar nuestros sueños, que nada será fácil, pero si no dejamos de mirar a la meta, nada ni nadie podrá apagar ese fuego que vive en nuestros corazones. Espero que también puedas disfrutar de esta extraordinaria y magistral historia cargada de muchas emociones y con un mensaje que puede darle más color y sentido a nuestras vidas.
"Patch Adams" is a movie that can be enjoyed with the whole family and its message is capable of further enlivening the desires of those who are about to pursue a college career or are already in it. The charisma that Robin brings to his character reflects that fighting, brave, bold, joyful and creative spirit that is needed to not decline in the face of the trials that may arise.
Sometimes it is not about standing out above everyone else but shining with your own light and giving the best of yourself, and that this light does not try to overshadow others but to shelter all those who may approach you, with the same affection and the same passion that leads us to be better at what we want to be in life.
"Patch Adams" is one of my favorite movies because it teaches me that true success is not conditioned by a sad past and that on the way to reach it there will always be many obstacles that will want to knock down our dreams, that nothing will be easy, but if we do not stop looking at the goal, nothing and no one will be able to extinguish that fire that lives in our hearts. I hope you can also enjoy this extraordinary and masterful story full of many emotions and with a message that can give more color and meaning to our lives.
