This is the overall theme and it's not subtle either. Romero really did have a great way of letting his views be known. You could go in purely for the zombies or stay and analyze a little about society.
Great review, this is one of the shining films from the period and it's still a great watch today. The Dario Argento cut is another whole topic and is very interesting too in regards to his personal vision.
