Hi Guys! I hope all of you are doing fine during this global pandemic period. As we are encouraged to keep social distance and avoid public gathering due to covid-19, watching movies and tv shows can be a great way to spend your free time. Different people like different kind of movies. From my personal observation I found women usually prefer Drama, Romantic or Horror while men prefer Action, Thriller or War movies. But everyone loves comedy!
As part of the comedy week contest organized by Movies and TV Shows community , I wanted to share 5 of my favorite comedy series and films with this great community. It is difficult task to pick top 5 comedy movies out of so many different options. But I will give it a try :)
3 Idiots
3 Idiots is one of my all-time favorite movie among all genre. If you are a Bollywood movie fan or from the Indian subcontinent, you already know about that movie. The movie is about the friendship and life journey of three undergrad engineering students in India. It is a rare combination of great acting, memorable characters, a perplexing plot and most importantly, a highly inspiring film about choosing the right path in life.
The film starts with Farhan and Raju going on a search for Rancho- a long lost friend after 10 years of their graduation. On the road to Rancho's place, they recall their memory of their college life, how they met Rancho, formed a unique friendship and how his impact changed their life forever. This movie will certainly make you laugh as well as feeling nostalgic about your academic life especially if you have lived in a student dormitory.
The Dictator
A list of comedy movies will be incomplete without The Dictator. This film begins with the Republic of Wadiya , a fictional country in North Africa that has been ruled by Admiral-General Haffaz Aladeen for years. General Aladeen is a childish, tyrannical, sexist and anti-Western dictator who surrounds himself with female bodyguards. He sponsors terrorism , changes many words to Aladeen (both positive and negative means "Aladeen" in Wadiyan language ) and is developing a Nuclear weapon to attack Israel. He sentences anyone to death , if they are not working according to his will. Aladeen organized his own Olympic competition where he won most of the award with a world record. General Aladeen was forced by the international community to address the united nation security council in New York city to avoid Military intervention. Shortly after arriving in NY, He was kidnapped by a hitman hired by his treacherous uncle Tamir . Tamir then replaced Aladeen with his double to act on his will. Aladeen managed to escape after the hitman accidentally burnt himself to death in a failed torture attempt. Then the movie goes on with a Dictator wandering around the street of NY and trying to find his crown back. Sacha Baron Cohen portrayed the character of Aladeen perfectly with his great acting.
The Hangover
The Hangover is another great comedy film. Though Bradly Copper is one the main actor of this movie, everyone will agree it is Zach Galifianakis(Allan) who is fan favorite. Doug who is about to marry Tracy travels to Las Vegas to invite his two best friends Phil and Stu. Along with Allan(brother of tracy), they organized a wild bachelor's party which went out of controlled. Next morning they find out Doug is missing, a chicken in their living room, a tiger in their bathroom and a baby in the closet. More importantly they can't remember a thing about last night. With a little time to spare, remaining three guys have to resolve the puzzle regarding last night and find out Doug so that they can bring him back to Los Angeles on time.
Friends
If I have to pick top three TV series no mater what genre Friends will always be one of them. Of course it is my favorite TV show. You can watch it again and again without getting bored. It has good story, great acting and incredible sense humor. Friends was aired in 1994 to 2004 and still it is one of the most watched TV shows.
The plot of the show revolves around the 6 main characters namely 'Ross', 'Rachel', 'Monica',' Joey', 'Phoebe' and 'Chandler'. All of them are in their twenties and live in New York city.
Ross-is intellectual and known as the scientist guy among his friends. He always like to correct people and sometimes he can be bit irritating among his friends. No matter what he always stand up by his opinion.
Rachel-waitress, fashionable and drama queen. Though she can be bit selfish time to time, she is always there when her friends need her.
Monica- is neat freak. Always love to host all event and be in charge. She can be bossy sometimes, but overall always there for her friends.
Joey- loving, caring, , loyal, talented, funny, , foodie, flirty, actor, not so intelligent but interesting a lot and most importantly a true friend.
Phoebe-bit different(or weird) comparing to others. She is simple, vegan, rich hearted and always positive about life!
Chandler-goofy and loveable. My favorite character is of course Chandler Bing ! Friendly guy with excellent sense of humor. He always love to make fun about everything.
Though Friends has 10 season with a lots of episodes , you can start watching from any episode. They are not that much connected to each other.
How I Met Your Mother
How I Met Your Mother aka HIMYM is another great comedian sitcom. It slightly different, but more similar to "Friends". Though the depth of the story lacks a bit, It is a still good comedy series. In compare with Friends HIMYM is funnier , but contents of friends was far superior than How I Met Your Mother. Though story start with Ted- a father telling the story to his kids about how he met their mother and his life in New York with his best friend- Marhsal , Lily, Barney and Robin , it s Barney who caught my attention with his great sense of humor.
