Esta película es poco conocida y pata mi es simplemente genial, narra la historia de un grupo de africanos que fueron arrebatados de sus familias para ser vendidos como esclavos pasan de un barco a otro, teniendo uno de ellos el nombre La Amistad, pero mientras se encuentran en este último logran escapar de sus cadenas y asesinan a los marinos del barco, así terminan en la costa de los Estados Unidos donde el barco es interceptado por guardacostas, allí este grupo de hombres son encarcelados por haber dado muerte a los marineros, logran conseguir un abogado y un descendiente de una esclava que habla su lengua para enfrentar un juicio con el propósito de lograr su libertad ya que para esa época ya existían tratados internacionales que prohibían la trata internacional de esclavos, así durante el juicio se demuestra su transporte ilegal aun cuando los negreros españoles intentaron falsificar la documentación para hacer creer que eran de origen cubano, es una película llena de momentos crudos y de las vividas en esa época. Cabe destacar que esta película fue tratada de manera muy dura por la critica.
