Mushroom Monday - Mushroom Fractals

Here are some fall fungi for #mushroommonday

Look at this strange turkeytail.

This was a tree that had turkeytail growing on it while it was still standing.

Then when it fell over the turkeytail needed a new platform to grow horizontally on.

Now they are producing leaves on top of the older leaves.

This creates an endless fractal effect where the same shape gets repeated at all different angles.

Here is another example of turkeytail growing on some hardwood.

Turkeytail has many shapes and colors. These are one of the few fungi that last all year and keep growing slowly.

I managed to find the last batch of mycena for this year. Soon as winter hits all I'll have are polypores and turkeytails to show.
