Hola maravillosa comunidad, una vez más he venido a participar en una de sus excelentes incitativas que siempre nos dejan aprendizaje. Debo agradecer a mi buena amiga @lisrl26 por invitarme a participar y por supuesto también debo agradecer al buen amigo @gsbilbao por presentar tan muy buena inactiva con un excelente tema que todos debemos conocer para estar muy claros de que se trata, porque es algo que está afectando a muchos en la actualidad. ###

La depresión y yo

La depresión la conocí después de viejo, no recuerdo haber sabido de alguien que la hubiese padecido o era un tema que pensaba que a mí no me afectaría. Toda mi vida hasta los 45 años fue de alegrías, de metas cumplidas, ganaba muy buen dinero gracias a mi profesión y emprendimientos; todo eso era hermoso hasta que un día se acabó. La depresión la conocí (sin saberlo) o me la tropecé en el año 2014 después de un divorcio y la separación de mis hijos. En ese momento me sumergí en un hueco oscuro, inundado de tristeza, de dormir mucho, de ausencia de amigos, familiares, tenía problemas de trabajo, no duraba en los empleos o me costaba conseguirlos, nada me gustaba y parecía que esto iba a tener un final triste y/o trágico. En ese momento yo vivía en una ciudad en el interior del país, lejos de mis hermanos. El interruptor que hace que doña depresión se presentara en mí, fue un divorcio traumático y el derrumbe de mi estabilidad económica. Los amigos se desaparecieron, mis hijos se alejaron, mis hermanos estaban en otra ciudad con sus propios problemas y yo comencé acariciar la idea de que ya no había motivos para estar vivo. Pensé en lanzarme al metro, pero en la ciudad que estaba no hay metro, tenía que viajar a Caracas, pensé en lanzarme desde un puente que atravesaba por encima a una autopista donde circulan vehículos a alta velocidad, pero cuando llegué al sitio, le habían colocado una protección para que las personas con pensamientos como el mío, no se lanzaran; todo estaba en contra de que yo ejecutara el disparate. Lo último que se me ocurrió, fue que le iba a intentar quitar el arma de reglamento a un funcionario policial para provocar que me dispararan. Mientras pensaba como iba a ejecutar tal locura, me encontré con una persona que tenía muchísimo tiempo sin verla; esta persona posteriormente se transformó en mi mejor amiga. Ella me noto diferente, de hecho me lo dijo, que estaba apagado, que no era el echador de broma de siempre y que mi mirada se veía muy triste. Esta mujer no me dejó solo, todos los días me buscó, me llevó a su casa, me alimentó y logró sacarme información de mi mejor amigo; Tito y de mis hermanos. Ella con esa información llamó a todos y les explico lo que yo estaba viviendo. Parecían que se turnaban, no me dejaban solo y buscaron la forma de que yo fuese visto por un especialista en trastornos mentales; un psiquiatra. Como mi situación económica estaba en el piso y en Venezuela ir a una consulta médica privada es sumamente costoso, se decidió que debería ir a una entidad psiquiátrica pública. Esa parte fue más triste porque estos sitios están colapsados, las colas son inmensas, las citas te las dan con fecha posterior a cuatro meses y las personas o pacientes que vi en esos sitios me dieron pavor, me parecían como zombis, era de terror y la tristeza aumento; no tendría salvación a pesar de los esfuerzos de mis cercanos. Hasta que el universo colaboró conmigo y un día caminando con mi tristeza y soledad vi en un colegio un grupo de personas que estaba prestando servicio a la comunidad. Allí aproveché para cortarme el cabello y como soy hipertenso quise saber cómo estaba mi presión arterial. Una doctora me atendió y al medirme la presión arterial, el medidor arrojo que la tenía altísima. Esta chica se alarmó y me dijo que no me podía ir, que había que bajarme la tensión a como diera lugar o llevarme al hospital. Total que me colocaron una pastilla debajo la lengua y mi tensión se normalizó. Cuando la doctora me dice que me va a obsequiar unas pastillas para levarme a casa, le pregunte: -Doctora, ¿hay aquí una psiquiatra que me pueda ver porque estoy que me ahorco? La chica se sorprendió, puso cara de alarmada y me dijo: -Yo soy psiquiatra, directora de un centro psiquiátrico y tu mañana vas a estar en consulta conmigo; lo de la ahorcada tendrá que esperar. Odalys (así se llama la doctora) al día siguiente inició una serie de consultas que me sirvieron de mucha ayuda. Con ella me enteré de que presentaba la condición de ASPERGER y me trato lo de la depresión. Ella habló con mis amigos, familiares y entre todos con amor, constancia, escuchándome, lograron rescatarme del hueco oscuro de la depresión. Al estar claro de mi condición de ASPERGER, también mi vida cambio, a partir de ese momento todas mis preguntas sobre mi forma de ser fueron respondidas. Odalys se fue del país, pero tengo contacto con ella, Aracelis y Tito, están siempre dispuestos a conversar y mis hermanos todos los días conversan conmigo. ###

El resumen

En resumen de toda esta historia es que la depresión es una villana que se presenta en nosotros sin que nos esteremos y solo los allegados, la familia, los amigos, son los que tal vez se den cuenta de su presencia y son ellos los primeros que pueden ayudar a superar esa situación. Aracelis encendió la alarma, el resto se activó para ayudarme y el universo fue cómplice para que Odalys Rodríguez llegara a mi vida. Fue un momento horrible que para mí ha quedado en el recuerdo. Cuando veo a alguien que tenga los síntomas de depresión o tristeza, busco ayudarlo. Si te encuentras con alguien en estado depresivo, jamás le digas que cambie de actitud, jamás le digas, salga de eso, jamás le digas, toma la vida de forma diferente; al principio, cuando me dijeron así, me molesté mucho. Esa persona no llega a ese estado porque decide hacerlo, es algo que no se controla y muchas veces ni siquiera sabe que lo vive. El amor lo cura todo. Para terminar les manifiesto un proverbio japonés que yo práctico ahora y me ayuda con mi paz mental: > “Si un problema tiene solución, ¿para qué preocuparse?, y si no lo tiene, ¿para qué preocuparse?”

Hello wonderful community, once again I have come to participate in one of your excellent initiatives that always leave us learning. I must thank my good friend @lisrl26 for inviting me to participate and of course, I must also thank my good friend @gsbilbao for presenting such a very good inactive with an excellent topic that we all must know to be very clear about it because it is something that is affecting many today. ###

Depression and me

I became aware of depression after I got older, I don't remember knowing of anyone who had suffered from it or it was a subject that I thought I wouldn't be affected by. My whole life until I was 45 years old was full of joys, goals accomplished, and I earned very good money thanks to my profession and undertakings; all of that was beautiful until one day it ended. I met (unknowingly) or stumbled into depression in 2014 after a divorce and separation from my children. At that time I was plunged into a dark hole, flooded with sadness, sleeping a lot, and absence of friends, and family, I had work problems, I did not last in jobs or I had trouble getting them, and I did not like anything and it seemed that this was going to have a sad and/or tragic end. At that time I was living in a city in the interior of the country, far from my siblings. The switch that caused me to become depressed as a traumatic divorce and the collapse of my financial stability. Friends disappeared, my children moved away, my siblings were in another city with their own problems and I began to cherish the idea that there was no reason to be alive anymore. I thought of jumping into the subway, but in the city, I was in there was no subway, I had to travel to Caracas, I thought of jumping from a bridge that crossed over a highway where vehicles circulate at high speed, but when I arrived at the site, they had placed protection so that people with thoughts like mine, would not jump; everything was against me executing the nonsense. The last thing that occurred to me was that I was going to try to take a police officer's regulation weapon to provoke them to shoot me. While I was thinking about how I was going to execute such madness, I met a person I hadn't seen for a long time; this person later became my best friend. She noticed me differently, in fact, she told me so, that I was off, that I wasn't my usual joking self and that my look was very sad. This woman did not leave me alone, every day she looked for me, took me to her house, fed me, and managed to get information from my best friend; Tito, and my brothers. With that information, she called everyone and explained to them what I was going through. They seemed to take turns, would not leave me alone, and sought to have me seen by a specialist in mental disorders; a psychiatrist. Since my economic situation was on the floor and in Venezuela going to a private medical consultation is extremely expensive, it was decided that I should go to a public psychiatric facility. That part was sadder because these places are collapsed, the lines are huge, the appointments are given to you with a date after four months, and the people or patients I saw in those places gave me dread, they seemed to me like zombies, it was terror and sadness increased; I would have no salvation despite the efforts of my close ones. Until the universe collaborated with me and one day walking with my sadness and loneliness I saw in a school a group of people who were giving service to the community. There I took the opportunity to get a haircut and since I am hypertensive I wanted to know how my blood pressure was. A doctor saw me and when she measured my blood pressure, the meter showed that I had very high blood pressure. This girl was alarmed and told me that I couldn't leave, that I had to lower my blood pressure at any cost or take me to the hospital. So they put a pill under my tongue and my blood pressure returned to normal. When the doctor told me that she was going to give me some pills to take home, I asked her: -Doctor, is there a psychiatrist here who can see me because I'm hanging myself? The girl was surprised, made an alarmed face, and said to me: -I am a psychiatrist, director of a psychiatric center, and tomorrow you will be in consultation with me; the hanging will have to wait. Odalys (that's the doctor's name) started a series of consultations the next day that helped me a lot. I found out from her that I had ASPERGER'S condition and she treated my depression. She talked to my friends and family and together with love, perseverance, and listening to me, they managed to rescue me from the dark hole of depression. When I became clear about my ASPERGER's condition, my life also changed, from that moment on all my questions about the way I am were answered. Odalys left the country, but I have contact with her, Aracelis, and Tito, they are always willing to talk and my siblings talk to me every day. ###

The summary

The summary of this whole story is that depression is a villain that presents itself in us without our being aware of it and only those close to us, our family, our friends, are the ones who may be aware of its presence and they are the first ones who can help us to overcome this situation. Aracelis turned on the alarm, the rest was activated to help me and the universe was an accomplice for Odalys Rodriguez to come into my life. It was a horrible moment that for me has remains in my memory. When I see someone who has the symptoms of depression or sadness, I seek to help them. If you meet someone in a depressed state, never tell them to change their attitude, never tell them, to get out of it, never tell them, to take life differently; at the beginning, when I was told like that, I was very upset. That person does not reach that state because he/she decides to do it, it is something that is not controlled and many times he/she does not even know that he/she is experiencing it. Love heals everything. In conclusion, I would like to share with you a Japanese proverb that I practice now and that helps me with my peace of mind: > "If a problem has a solution, why worry, and if it doesn't, why worry?"
