Hola, setero! Today I share some mushroom impressions from October, 2020.

Polypore mushroom on a stump. Lets have a closer look at this spot.

Two species conquer for the same spot 'under the sun', i.e. for this juicy rotting stump. Piece of wood means resoures, food, energy. Happily those mushrooms dont struggle with each other - the methods are more peaceful, evolving the copulation strategy (which specie will become more effective and good at growing - this one will occupy all of the wanted / debatable area).

The one on the right is Mycena sp., and looks like it grows faster, but its quite ephemera - and the final victory (i.e. this stump area) remains with the polypore mushroom.

Another stump - another mushroom; this time it is 'chicken of the woods' (Laetiporus sulphureus), very tasty and welcomed mushroom.

An infant colony of Winter mushroom (Flammulina velutipes).

Same mushroom colony but aged, after a week.

The last one for today:

Paxillus involutus - a very healthy, strong, resilient young mushroom; vigorous, fleshy! Too bad it's an inedible one. No, it is not poisonous, technically speaking it can be eaten and it does not have a bad taste ... but it has the property of absorbing everything that is bad in the earth, and has several more bad properties that eventually provoke a disorder in your body. This mushroom usually grows in large colonies - such a pity, but one should bypass them... We can only admire!

Now, its time to part ways, I wish you good luck -- and Good Hunting! Happy #FungiFriday to you! And a little reminder: we have a nice fun challenge at HIVE, hold by @EwkaW: #FungiFriday! I hope many of you will join, as there are only 2 simple rules:

  • when Friday comes, share your fungi with us! post your own, original photo/drawing/art/food/anything-at-all of any type of fungi (yes, stolen images will be checked and reported !)
  • add #fungifriday (not necessarily must be your 1st tag). that's all!
