The young fruiting body is flesh-colored, becoming orange-yellow over time, later orange, and even orange-pink. Often the edges of the hat are yellow, and the closer to the center, the color becomes intense orange. The young hat is wavy, folded, convex at the edges, then becomes concave, funnel-shaped. The surface of the hat is dry, dull.

Kapelusz może osiągnąć do 9 cm średnicy. Kolor kapelusza zmienia się wraz ze wzrostem grzyba. Występowanie. grzyb jest dość pospolity można go spotkać jesienią najczęściej w małych grupach. Lubi lasy iglaste i mieszane. Często można go znaleźć we mchu, albo we wrzosach. Czasami pojawia się w miejscach, gdzie gromadziły się spróchniałe gałęzie, lub na spróchniałych pniach.
