Fliegenpilz ■ fly agaric

Der ausgiebige Regen und die warmen Temperaturen haben auch bei uns in Unterfranken die Pilze sprießen lassen. Voller Erwartungen bin ich aufgebrochen, um nach Steinpilzen zu suchen. Zahlreiche Fliegenpilze konnte ich vom Wegrand aus in einem Fichtenwald entdecken. Wo es Fliegenpilze gibt, sind meistens auch Steinpilze zu finden. Leider blieb meine Suche erfolglos.
The extensive rain and the warm temperatures have also let the mushrooms sprout here in Lower Franconia. Full of expectations I set off to look for porcini mushrooms. I was able to discover numerous fly agarics from the edge of the path in a spruce forest. Where there are fly agarics, there are usually also porcini mushrooms. Unfortunately my search was unsuccessful.

Auf meiner Tour durch den Wald zwischen Nassig und Hundheim zeigten sich insgesamt nur wenige Speisepilze, die alle nicht den Weg in meinen Korb fanden. Ich kenne viele Stellen im Wald, an denen ich in den Jahren zuvor immer Steinpilze finden konnte. In diesem Jahr ist alles anders. So bin ich wieder mal ohne Pilze an meinem Auto angekommen.
On my tour through the woods between Nassig and Hundheim, only a few edible mushrooms showed up, none of which found their way into my basket. I know many places in the forest where I could always find porcini mushrooms in the years before. This year everything is different. So once again I arrived at my car without mushrooms.

Die vielen Fliegenpilze musste ich allerdings noch fotografieren. So habe ich den Korb gegen meinen Fotorucksack getauscht und bin gezielt zu den Fliegenpilzen gelaufen. Auf dem Weg dort hin sind mir Pilzsammler begegnet. Deren Körbe waren auch leer. Das war meine Bestätigung, dass es keinen Sinn macht, weiter zu suchen.
But I still had to take pictures of the many fly agaric. So I exchanged the basket for my photo backpack and walked straight to the fly agaric. On the way there I met mushroom collectors. Their baskets were empty too. That was my confirmation that there was no point in looking any further.

Um den Fliegenpilz gibt es zahlreiche Geschichten. Er gilt als Giftpilz, wird aber von manchen Menschen als Droge verwendet. Die einen füttern Rentiere damit, um deren Urin zu trinken. Andere wiederum trinken den Urin von Schamanen, die den Pilz zuvor konsumiert haben. Wieder andere rauchen den getrockneten Pilz. So könnte ich viele weiter Beschreibungen zur Anwendung aufzählen. Nach meinem Wissensstand ist der Pilz nicht einfach zu dosieren. Die Tatsache, dass bei Konsumenten Leberschäden nachgewiesen wurde, zeigt deutlich, dass ein Konsum nicht ratsam ist. Ich lass mich lieben von dem fantastischen Anblick der Fliegenpilze berauschen. Dabei kann die Dosis nicht groß genug sein.
There are many stories about the fly agaric. It is considered to be a poisonous mushroom, but is used as a drug by some people. Some people feed it to reindeer to drink their urine. Others drink the urine of shamans who have previously consumed the mushroom. Still others smoke the dried mushroom. So I could list many more descriptions of its use. As far as I know, the mushroom is not easy to dose. The fact that liver damage has been proven in consumers clearly shows that consumption is not advisable. I let myself be intoxicated by the fantastic view of toadstools. And the dose cannot be large enough.
