WednesdayYellow: Iodine bolete

Hemileccinum impolitum (syn. Boletus impolitus), commonly known as the iodine bolete, is a species of bolete native from Europe.

This large mushroom is usually found on Oak (Quercus spp.) forests and it's known for the strong iodine smell in the base of its stem.

This beautiful specimen was photographed in the Alentejo region (Southern Portugal), in a forest dominated by Holm oaks (Quercus rotundifolia).
