Fungi friday: Two beautiful Panthercaps!

The Amanita pantherina is an Amanitaceae species native from Europe, very common in the southern half of that continent, which can be also found in Western Asia.
It is commonly known as panthercap, european panther or false blusher (due to its similarity to Amanita rubescens, a.k.a. blusher).

Among its most distinctive features is its beautiful ocher-brown cap, dotted with white remnants of the universal veil.

These two beautiful specimens at different stages of development were photographed in the Alentejo region (Southern Portugal), in oak woodlands.
