En los últimos años la tecnología se ha apoderado de gran parte del tiempo de las personas. Muchos dependemos de ella. Y aunque ha traído grandes beneficios se han ido dejando en el olvido cosas como escribir cartas, leer un libro o otras comunes como leer el periódico.
Los niños de ahora nacen en una era donde los recursos audiovisuales son más atractivos, dejando a un lado la lectura. Pero ¿Por qué es importante que los niños lean?
In recent years, technology has taken over much of people's time. Many of us depend on it. And although it has brought great benefits, things like writing letters, reading a book or other common things like reading the newspaper have been forgotten.
Today's children are born in an era where audiovisual resources are more attractive, leaving reading aside. But why is it important for children to read?
Son muchos los beneficios de que los niños le tomen amor a la lectura. Desde mi punto de vista, les ayuda a ampliar su imaginación y creatividad, a conocer el significado de las palabras y como escribirlas, así que con esto mejoran la ortografía. También puede ayudarles a expresarse mejor ya que su vocabulario se amplia.
Desde mi niñez vi muy beneficioso que mi mamá y mi papá me inculcaran la lectura. De niña nos compraron a mis hermanas y a mi una colección de libros que contenían cuentos infantiles y que conservo en mi memoria con mucho cariño. Me sabía los cuentos de memoria de tanto que los leía.
Aunque mis papás tenían televisor, nosotras no nos acostumbramos a ver televisión constantemente, ellos mismos nos enseñaron que podíamos ver televisión para descansar y no para pasar el día. Eso nos ayudaba a concentrar nuestra mente en otras actividades y no dedicarle tanto tiempo a la tecnología.
There are many benefits for children to love reading. From my point of view, it helps them to expand their imagination and creativity, to know the meaning of words and how to write them, so they improve their spelling. It can also help them express themselves better as their vocabulary expands.
Since my childhood I found it very beneficial that my mom and dad instilled reading in me. As a child they bought my sisters and me a collection of books containing children's stories, which I keep in my memory with great affection. I knew the stories by heart from reading them so much.
Although my parents had a television, we did not get used to watching television constantly, they themselves taught us that we could watch television to rest and not to pass the day. That helped us to concentrate our minds on other activities and not spend so much time on technology.
El amor por la lectura se inculca. Y esto lo digo porque sobre todo cuando estamos comenzando a leer no nos gusta hacerlo, equivocarse no es tan divertido, por lo que requiere mucha paciencia de los padres. Y quiero destacar esto importante, en mi opinión quien enseña a leer a un niño son sus padres, no es tan fácil que en la escuela se aprenda a leer solo con asistir. La maestra tiene que enseñar a un número de niños y no todos captan con la misma rapidez. Para aprender a leer se requiere paciencia.
Si yo me pongo a recordar como aprendí a leer, recuerdo es a mi mamá enseñándome y al maestro solo corrigiendo la lectura. Si los papitos no ayudan en este punto, a los niños se les va a hacer difícil aprender a leer rápido.
Recuerdo el libro "Mi jardín" y uno muy bonito llamado "Pasito a Pasito", quizás alguno lo recuerde también. Estos eran algunos de los libros con los que nos enseñaban a leer en Venezuela en las escuela
The love for reading is inculcated. And I say this because especially when we are starting to read we do not like to do it, making mistakes is not so much fun, so it requires a lot of patience from parents. And I want to emphasize this important, in my opinion who teaches a child to read are their parents, it is not so easy in school to learn to read just by attending. The teacher has to teach a number of children and not all of them pick it up at the same speed. Learning to read requires patience.
If I think back to how I learned to read, I remember my mother teaching me and the teacher just correcting the reading. If parents don't help at this point, children will have a hard time learning to read quickly.
I remember the book "Mi jardín" and a very nice one called "Pasito a Pasito", maybe some of you remember it too. These were some of the books they used to teach us to read in Venezuela at school.
Mi mamá utilizo sus técnicas para inculcarme el amor a la lectura. Por ejemplo, recuerdo que todas las mañanas debía leerle un párrafo del periódico. También mientras hacía la cena o el desayuno me sentaba en una silla con un libro de cuentos y me decía que le leyera para ella escucharlo.
Otra cosa que me ayudó es que cuando íbamos de paseo en carro, ella me colocaba en la ventana y me decía que leyera los anuncios que habían en la calle, esto para enseñarme a leer súper rápido. Me ayudó muchísimo, no sólo a leer rápido sino a ubicarme en los lugares, aún después de grande sigo leyendo los anuncios de la calle y eso me ayuda a saber cuando ya he pasado por algún lugar y a no perderme tan fácil.
Yo revelando las técnicas de mi mamá jeje. Pero en realidad me parecen muy beneficiosas. Por ejemplo, cuando leía un cuento o algún párrafo en el periódico me encontraba con palabras que no conocía el significado, así que la segunda herramienta importante para mi mamá fue un diccionario. Ella no me decía el significado, yo debía investigar en el diccionario su definición.
My mother used her techniques to instill in me a love of reading. For example, I remember that every morning I had to read her a paragraph from the newspaper. Also while making dinner or breakfast she would sit me in a chair with a storybook and tell me to read to her so she could listen to it.
Another thing that helped me is that when we would go for a car ride, she would put me in the window and tell me to read the ads that were on the street, this to teach me to read super fast. It helped me a lot, not only to read fast but also to locate myself in places, even after I grew up I still read the ads on the street and that helps me to know when I have already passed some place and not to get lost so easily.
Me revealing my mom's techniques hehe. But I actually find them very beneficial. For example, when I read a story or some paragraph in the newspaper I would come across words that I didn't know the meaning, so the second important tool for my mom was a dictionary. She wouldn't tell me the meaning, I had to look it up in the dictionary.
Esta manera en la que mi mamá me inculcó el amor a la lectura me ha ayudado mucho incluso después de adulta. En mi periodo de adolescencia salió una moda entre los jóvenes de escribir mensajes de textos a su manera, parecía una rebelión contra la ortografía. Mi mamá me prohibió que escribiera de esa manera y gracias a Dios que lo hizo, muchos compañeros de estudio dañaron toda su ortografía escribiendo cosas como " t kiero, q?, xq" y terminaban escribiendo así en exámenes académicos.
This way in which my mother instilled in me the love of reading has helped me a lot even after adulthood. In my teenage years there was a fashion among young people to write text messages in their own way, it seemed like a rebellion against spelling. My mom forbade me to write that way and thank God she did, many fellow students damaged all their spelling by writing things like "t kiero, q?, xq" and ended up writing like that in academic exams.
Un niño que lea bien se le hace más fácil cumplir con sus actividades escolares y destacarán sobre otros niños, no queriendo ser los mejores, sino porque lamentablemente algunos padres tienen tantas ocupaciones que se le olvida enseñarles a sus hijos la importancia de la buena lectura o simplemente no le dan importancia.
A child who reads well will find it easier to fulfill their school activities and will stand out from other children, not because they want to be the best, but because unfortunately some parents are so busy that they forget to teach their children the importance of good reading or simply do not give it importance.
Para mi lectura es la base del aprendizaje, un niño que aprenda a leer bien en el futuro será una persona que no se dejará engañar tan fácilmente, que podrá encontrar direcciones y las respuestas a sus preguntas. Y con esto no estoy menospreciando a aquellas personas adultas que no aprendieron a leer porque pienso que siempre hay oportunidad de hacerlo, tengamos la edad que tengamos.
Si inculcamos a los niños el amor a la lectura, estaremos contribuyendo a su futuro, a su creatividad, a su capacidad de análisis y a su motivación por escribir. Y no es necesario eliminar la tecnología del todo, gracias a ella ahora nuestros niños también pueden leer de forma digital.
Yo se que muchas mamitas y papitos de esta comunidad se esfuerzan por hacerlo así. Un abrazo para todos. Y espero que algunas de estas técnicas de mi mamá le sean de utilidad, ya que como experiencia personal a mi me ayudaron mucho.
For me reading is the basis of learning, a child who learns to read well in the future will be a person who will not be fooled so easily, who will be able to find directions and the answers to his questions. And with this I am not belittling those adults who did not learn to read because I think there is always an opportunity to do so, no matter how old we are.
If we instill in children the love of reading, we will be contributing to their future, their creativity, their analytical skills and their motivation to write. And it is not necessary to eliminate technology altogether, thanks to it, now our children can also read digitally.
