Como padres tenemos la gran responsabilidad de llevar el timón de nuestra familia con nuestra querida esposa, sabiendo que nuestros hijos en algún momento de su vida también serán capitanes de sus vidas, y por ello tenemos la responsabilidad de enseñarles, entre otras muchas cosas, a conseguir dinero de forma digna y honesta y a saber administrarlo.
As parents we have a great responsibility to steer the helm of our family with our dear wife, knowing that our children at some point in their lives will also be captains of their lives, and for this reason we have the responsibility to teach them among many things how to obtain money in a dignified and honest way and to know how to manage it.
Algo que me ha ayudado es animar a mis queridos hijos a tener en cuenta que el dinero no llega tan fácilmente como muchos dicen, sino que necesita un poco de esfuerzo que al final tendrá los frutos que deseamos, la experiencia me ha enseñado que cuando los niños reciben dinero sin un mínimo de esfuerzo, cuando crecen, normalmente no serán agradecidos y podrían ser derrochadores.
Something that has helped me is to encourage my dear children to keep in mind that money does not come as easily as many say, but needs a little effort that in the end will have the fruits we want, experience has taught me that when children receive money without a minimum of effort, when they grow up, they usually will not be grateful and could be spendthrifts.
Cuando mis hijos eran pequeños y se acercaban a mí, queriendo que les comprara algún caramelo, no perdía la oportunidad de enseñarles con cariño, diciéndoles siempre con una sonrisa en la cara, mi amor, ¿crees que un niño que deja sus juguetes tirados se merece un caramelo ahora mismo? Y así rápidamente recogía sus juguetes y los ponía en su lugar, sonrío al recordar esos momentos, y los premiaba con un poco más de lo que pedían.
When my children were little and they came to me, wanting me to buy them some candy, I did not miss the opportunity to teach them with love, always telling them with a smile on my face, my love, do you think a child who leaves his toys lying around deserves a candy right now? And so I would quickly pick up their toys and put them back in their place, I would smile at the memory of those moments, and reward them with a little bit more than what they asked for.
Podría parecer que lo hicieron por interés, pero sé que esto les dejó una gran lección, de esta manera al crecer se dan cuenta que cuando acuden a sus padres a pedir dinero para comprar algo que les gusta, son conscientes de que están cumpliendo con sus responsabilidades dentro del hogar.
It might seem that they did it out of interest, but I know that this left them with a great lesson, this way as they grow up they realize that when they come to their parents to ask for money to buy something they like, they are aware that they are fulfilling their responsibilities within the home.
Me alegra mucho ver que mis pequeños van madurando poco a poco para apreciar que todo requiere su esfuerzo para conseguir lo que quieren, y esto se aplica al dinero, y así se convertirán en adultos capaces de dirigir sabiamente el timón de sus vidas.
I am very happy to see that my little ones are gradually maturing to appreciate that everything requires their effort to get what they want, and this applies to money, and in this way they will become adults capable of wisely directing the helm of their lives.
