Christmas, we all have that moment as parents where we ask ourselves, What do we want to give as a Christmas gift to our children? The answer to that question always sends parents into a state of panic, this is due to various causes, but in our case, as parents whose baby is still too young to communicate what she wants, we just don't know what the most ideal gift is.
This led us to decide that we want two to three toys, all of them to boost the growth and evolution of our beautiful Sofia, the thing was that we could not get any of the desired gifts, and as absurd as it sounds, I can finally understand the character Howard Langston in the film "The Promised Gift (1996)", who wanders around the city and can't get the desired toy for his son until he gets into a series of absurd situations, only that in my case it was caused by the recent Black Friday event in the city of Maracaibo, something that I come to tell you today.

A few weeks ago Abigaíl and I have been thinking for some time about what to give Sofía both for Christmas and Three Kings Day when we determined that we wanted five different toys and that three of them would be good for Three Kings Day and two of them would be optimal for Christmas.
The two optimal ones were "a car that she could ride in and push with her feet" and "big Legos that she couldn't possibly eat" the first one was easy to get, quite plentiful, and filled all the malls we went to, from Sambil Maracaibo to Galerias and Centro Sur, but there was a twist of fate in Sofia's favor.
My aunt, the famous Crazy Old Lady, decided that she wanted to give just this very item to our baby girl, leading to a shopping spree where we finally got all together, the one that Tia ended up buying for the little girl, the funny thing is that she insisted on giving it to her immediately, because "Sofia does not understand Christmas", a pretty solid argument and seeing her happy playing with the stroller made it all clear to us.
This led to our discussion as a couple to change the focus from Christmas gifts to children's Lego, but let's face it, this decision turned into a pretty hellish one just a week after the purchase of the car, we simply could not foresee what this change would mean for us.
What we didn't remember is that last Friday was the famous Black Friday, and when we went out to buy the lego on Saturday we simply couldn't find it anywhere, every place we went to was sold out, or worse, they were only selling the small ones for big kids.
Soon we found ourselves with the coincidence that we had gone through all the malls and nothing, we had not gotten the legos, then we only had one option left, downtown, the popular markets known as "the fleas", we had to go to sink in the most chaotic of all markets.
From our entrance we saw the legos, impressively from the outside were present the desired legos, the problem was the illogical cost, $50, for a lego of 30 pieces, something very expensive, seeing this we decided that we would have to walk.
Crossing the outer line of the flea market was easy, the fact that it is a chaotic place does not take away the aisles it has to facilitate the movement, of course, what one does not expect is having to go through aisles specialized in things like witchcraft and cigarette smuggling, to reach the area of children's toys.
Once in the aisle of toys began the work of asking, Abi and I separated a few meters and each one asked on each side of the aisle, walking slowly, soon we found one, $13 with 102 pieces, it was perfect because even its packaging was optimal for storing the pieces after opening, unlike the $30 one.
Now that we had found it, the discussion began, which present should we give her for Christmas? A Xylophone for her to learn the musical notes and play? Or an abacus to teach him the concept of numbers little by little?
Ironically being there where we were, we started to look for both gifts, and guess what we saw very abundantly in the malls, in the flea markets was absent, that is to say, we had to go to explore the malls again ha, ha, ha, ha, what a disaster that detail turned out to be.
Of course, the latter had happened, because Black Friday also happened at the flea market and all the Xylophones, abacuses, and dolls were completely sold out, that is to say, the Legos were sold out because all the other toys were gone, including the strollers, because we did not see any in the entire flea market.
So we decided to go to a shopping mall to buy one of those two, but at least we already solved the Lego, and Aunt solved the stroller, we only need a gift for Three Kings Day, and we are inclined to the Xylophone because we know how much Sofia loves music.
With this pending, it should be noted that we have not yet gotten a flannel for the 24th, Sofia already has a pair of pants for Christmas, we just need a good Christmas-themed flannel and we are at the point where if we do not get one in the next week, we will have it made.
With this I close, not only did we save 37 dollars with our gift hunt, but that money can now be used to get a gift for Christmas and a flannel for Sofia, which I know that with these red pants, she will look adorable.

Navidad, todos tenemos ese momento como padres donde nos preguntamos, ¿Qué queremos darle de regalo de navidad a nuestros hijos? La respuesta a esa duda siempre hace que los padres lleguemos a un estado de pánico, esto se debe a varias causas, pero en nuestro caso, como padres cuyo bebe es aún muy pequeña para comunicar lo que desea, simplemente no sabemos realmente cuál es el regalo más idóneo.
Esto nos llevó a decidir que deseamos dos a tres juguetes, todos estos para impulsar el crecimiento y evolución de nuestra hermosa Sofía, el caso fue que no lográbamos conseguir ninguno de los regalos deseados y por muy absurdo que suene, al fin puedo entender al personaje Howard Langston en el filme "El Regalo Prometido (1996)", que da vueltas por toda la ciudad y no logra conseguir el juguete deseado para su hijo hasta que se introduce en una serie de situaciones absurdas, solo que en mi caso fue causado por el reciente evento de Black Friday en la ciudad de Maracaibo, algo que vengo a narrarles el día de hoy.
Hace algunas semanas que Abigaíl y yo tenemos algún tiempo pensando sobre que regalarle a Sofía tanto en navidad como para el día de reyes, cuando determinamos que deseábamos cinco juguetes distintos y que tres de ellos serian buenos para Día de reyes y dos de ellos serian óptimos para Navidad.
Los dos óptimos eran "un coche que ella pudiera montarse en él y empujar con los pies" y un "Legos grandes que ella no pudiera posiblemente comérselos" el primero de hecho si era sencillo de conseguir, bastante abundante y llenaba todos los centros comerciales a los que íbamos, desde Sambil Maracaibo hasta Galerías y Centro Sur, pero hubo un giro del destino a favor de Sofía.
Mi tía, la famosa Vieja loca, decidió que quería regalarle justamente este mismo elemento a nuestra bebita, llevando a una vuelta de compras donde finalmente conseguimos todos juntos, el que Tía terminó comprando para la niña, lo curioso es que insistió en dárselo inmediatamente, pues "Sofía no entiende de navidades", un argumento bastante sólido y verla feliz jugando con el cochecito nos dejó todo en claro.
Esto conllevó a que nuestra discusión como pareja cambiara el enfoque de regalo navideño al Lego infantil, pero válgame que esta decisión paso a ser una bastante infernal tan solo una semana después de la compra del coche, simplemente no pudimos prever lo que significaría para nosotros ese cambio.
Lo que no recordábamos es que el viernes pasado era el famoso Black Friday, y cuando salimos a comprar el lego el sábado simplemente no lo encontrábamos en ninguna parte, todo sitio al que íbamos estaba agotado, o peor, vendían solamente los pequeños para niños grandes.
Pronto nos encontramos con la casualidad que habíamos recorrido todos los centros comerciales y nada, no habíamos conseguido los legos, entonces solo nos quedaba una opción, el centro, los mercados populares conocidos como "las pulgas", nos tocaba ir a hundirnos en el más caótico de todos los mercados.
Desde nuestra entrada vimos los legos, impresionantemente desde la parte exterior estaban presentes los legos deseados, el problema era lo ilógico del costo, $50, por un lego de 30 piezas, algo muy elevado, viendo esto decidimos que nos tocaría caminar.
Traspasar la línea exterior de las pulgas fue sencillo, que sea un lugar caótico no le quita los pasillos que tiene para facilitar el movimiento, claro lo que uno no espera es tener que pasar por pasillos especializados en cosas como brujería y contrabando de cigarros, para alcanzar el área de los juguetes infantiles.
Una vez en el pasillo de los juguetes comenzó el trabajo de preguntar, Abi y yo nos separamos algunos metros y cada uno preguntaba en cada lado del pasillo, caminando lentamente, pronto dimos con uno, $13 con 102 piezas, era perfecto, pues hasta su empaque era óptimo para guardar las piezas posteriores a su apertura.
Ahora que lo habíamos conseguido comenzó la discusión, ¿Qué regalo le daremos de día de reyes? ¿Un Xilófono para que aprenda las notas musicales y juegue? O ¿Un Ábaco para enseñarle el concepto de los números poco a poco?
Irónicamente estando allí donde estábamos, comenzamos a buscar ambos regalos y adivinen, lo que vimos muy abundantemente en los centros comerciales, en las pulgas estaba ausente, es decir, nos tocaba ir a explorar de nuevo los centros comerciales ja, ja, ja, que desastre resulto ese detalle.
Claro, esto último había ocurrido, pues el Black Friday también ocurrió en las pulgas y todos los Xilófonos, ábacos y muñecas se habían vendido por completo, es decir, los legos fue porque se acabaron todos los demás juguetes, incluyendo los cochecitos, pues no vimos ninguno en todo el mercado "las pulgas".
Entonces decidimos que estaría pendiente el ir a un centro comercial a comprar alguno de esos dos, pero al menos ya resolvimos el Lego, y tía solvento el cochecito, solo nos falta un regalo para Día de reyes y nos vemos inclinados al Xilófono, porque sabemos cuanto ama Sofía la música.
Teniendo esto pendiente, cabe destacar que aún no hemos conseguido una franela para el 24, Sofía ya tiene un pantalón para navidad, solo nos falta una buena franela con temática navideña y estamos en el punto donde si no conseguimos una en la siguiente semana, pues la mandamos a hacer.
Con esto cierro, pues no solo logramos el ahorro de 37 dólares con nuestra cacería de regalos, sino que ese dinero ahora lo podemos usar para conseguir el regalo de día de reyes y una franela para Sofía, que sé que con junto a este pantalón rojo, ella se vera adorable.
Saben, yo pensaba que la trama de regalo prometido solo podía ocurrir si uno era irresponsable y salía a comprar el 24 de diciembre por el regalo del 25, pero luego del desastre que fueron las compras del sábado pasado, al fin entiendo lo desesperante que puede ser no conseguir los juguetes que deseamos para nuestros hijos, ¿Ustedes ya comenzaron a buscar los regalos de navidad?
