Hola madres y padres de Motherhood, como les he contado mi hija pequeña Andrea es una artista, a ella le encanta el trabajo manual, le gusta la música, toca el cuatro y dentro de poco tiempo empieza sus clases de piano, pero también le gusta dibujar y tejer.

Esta es una actividad que aprendió de mi mamá, que en 2020 cuando empezó la pandemia estuvo en nuestra casa e hizo 2 meses de cuarentena encerrada con nosotros. Yo ya había intentado enseñarle lo que mi mamá me había enseñado cuando era pequeña, pero creo que no me había prestado mucha atención o no tenía la concentración para hacerlo, pero en 2020 tenía 8 años y como no había mucho que hacer en casa, aprendió con su abuela.
Después de eso no ha parado, le he comprado materiales y 2 agujas de tejer, de vez en cuando noto que va viendo videos y desarrollando sus proyectos, hizo portavasos y portaplatos en muy poco tiempo y lo hizo solo siguiendo las indicaciones de videos de internet, ahora sabe mucho más que yo, porque entiende el lenguaje de las expertas cuando nombran las puntadas a hacer. Yo solo se hacer puntos de cadeneta y pilares.
This is an activity she learned from my mom, who in 2020 when the pandemic started was in our house and did 2 months of quarantine locked up with us. I had already tried to teach her what my mom had taught me when she was little, but I don’t think she had paid much attention to me or didn’t have the concentration to do it, but in 2020 she was 8 years old and since there wasn’t much to do at home, she learned with her grandmother.
After that she has not stopped, I have bought her materials and 2 knitting needles, from time to time I notice that she is watching videos and developing her projects, she made cup holders and plate holders in a very short time and she did this only following the indications in internet videos, now she knows much more than me, because she understands the language of the experts when they name the stitches to be done. I only know how to make chain stitches and pillars.
Cuando se le mete un proyecto en la cabeza no hay quien la pare, es muy decidida. La semana pasada fuimos a la bodega a comprar algunas cosas que necesitaba y entre ellas puso hilo de color fucsia, en ese momento no le pregunté nada porque sabía que era para tejer pero no sabía que pensaba hacer. Cuando llegamos a casa le pregunté y me dijo que quería hacer unas pulseras tejidas para regalárselas a una prima que iba a cumplir 4 años y no tenía nada que regalarle. Confieso que eso me llenó de orgullo, mi hijita no deja que nada la detenga, pensó: No tengo dinero para comprar un regalo pero puedo hacer uno yo misma.
Ese mismo día empezó con la búsqueda, me pidió el teléfono celular para buscar en Youtube un vídeo de una pulsera, lo encontró pero además necesitaba unas piedras que encontró en mi estuche de agujas e hilos (ella sabe todo lo que hay en casa y donde está 😅) y se puso manos a la obra viendo el vídeo. Realmente me sentí tan orgullosa que al momento quise hacerle fotos pero ella estaba usando mi teléfono, así que le pedí el teléfono de mi hijo para hacerle esas primeras fotos.
When she gets a project in her head, there is no stopping her, she is very determined. Last week we went to the bodega to buy some things she needed and among them she put some fuchsia colored yarn, at the time I didn’t ask her anything because I knew it was for knitting but I didn’t know what she was planning to do. When we got home I asked her and she told me that she wanted to make some woven bracelets to give to a cousin who was going to be 4 years old and she had nothing to give her. I confess that filled me with pride, my little daughter doesn’t let anything stop her, she thought: I don’t have money to buy a gift but I can make one myself.
That same day she started with the search, she asked for my cell phone to look on Youtube for a video of a bracelet, she found it but she also needed a stones that she found in my needle and children case (she knows everything in the house and where it is 😅) and she started to work watching the video. I really felt so proud that at once I wanted to take pictures of her but she was using my phone, so I asked her for my son’s phone to take those first pictures.
Buscó un caja de plástico para colocar todos sus materiales incluyendo pega blanca que también necesita para sellar los nudos y en todos lados la veía con su caja. Tardó como tres días para terminar, porque no solo hizo la de su prima sino que también hizo como tres más que regaló y hasta me dijo que si le podía comprar más hilo para ella hacer y vender en la escuela por 5 bolívares 🤣. Ahora a demás de artista también tengo una hija emprendedora 🤣.
She looked for a plastic box to put all her materials including white glue that she also needs to seal the knots and everywhere she went I saw her with her box. It took her about three days to finish, because she not only made her cousin’s but she also made about three more that she gave as gifts and she even told me if I could buy more yarn for her to make and sell at school for 5 bolivars 🤣. Now, besides being an artist, I also have an enterprising daughter 🤣.
Como madre, lo único que hago es apoyarla en estos proyectos. Claro, a veces se le ocurren algunas cosas que le digo, NO, eso no y le explico por qué no es posible, pero cuando es algo que le deja un aprendizaje positivo soy la primera en darle mi apoyo comprándole lo que necesita o prestándole mi teléfono para que aprenda con un video o lo que sea.
As a mother, the only thing I do is to support her in these projects. Of course, sometimes she comes up with some things that I tell her, NO, not that and I explain to her why it is not possible, but when it is something that leaves a positive learning experience for her I am the first to give her my support by buying what she needs or lending her my phone so that she can learn with a video or whatever.
