Отже продовжую розповідь про нашу відпустку цього року. Прямуючи повз Румунію ми доїхали до невеличкого міста Салонта, яке знаходиться поруч із кордоном із Угорщиною, до якої всього 10 км.
So I continue the story of our vacation this year. On our way to Romania, we reached the small town of Salonta, which is near the border with Hungary, which is only 10 km away.
Присутність сусідньої держави відчувається, наприклад, в магазинах чутно угорську мову, а не румунську. І це не дивно, адже ця територія до Тріанонського договору 1920 року була Угорщиною.
The presence of a neighboring state is felt, for example, in the shops you can hear the Hungarian language, not Romanian. And this is not surprising, because this territory before the Treaty of Trianon in 1920 was Hungary.
Згідно перепису населення загальна кількість мешканців Салонти складає майже 18 тисяч осіб, з яких угорці складають 55,64 %, а румуни – 37,07 %.
According to the census, the total population of Salonta is almost 18,000, of whom Hungarians make up 55.64% and Romanians - 37.07%.
Саме місто здалося мені досить затишним, в ньому присутні старі будівлі, а також і сучасні, скоріш за все радянської доби. Але навіть вони виглядають більш яскравими ніж ті, що є в Україні.
The city itself seemed quite cozy to me, it has old buildings, as well as modern, most likely Soviet-era. But even they look brighter than those in Ukraine.
На вулицях бабусі продають квіти, так само як і в нас.
Grandmothers sell flowers on the streets, just like we do.
