Заїхавши декілька років тому у справах на одну з околиць Львова - Левандівку, я несподівано, серед звичайних панельок побачив красивий і величний храм. Це церква Вознесіння Господнього, що належить Українській греко-католицької церкви. Незвично було побачити таку гарну будівлю не в історичному Львові, де на кожному кроці знаходиться щось пам'ятне і цінне.
When I stopped by Levandivka on one of the outskirts of Lviv a few years ago, I suddenly saw a beautiful and majestic church among the usual panels. This is the Church of the Ascension, which belongs to the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. It was unusual to see such a beautiful building not in historic Lviv, where at every step there is something memorable and valuable.
Левандівка - це місцевість в Залізничному районі Львова, відокремлена від решти міста саме залізницею. Раніше великого храму в цьому районі, який би вміщував всіх мирян УГКЦ не було, тому на початку 1990-х років було прийнято рішення будувати нову церкву.
Levandivka is a place in the Railway district of Lviv, separated from the rest of the city by the railway. Previously, there was no large church in this area that would accommodate all the laity of the UGCC, so in the early 1990s it was decided to build a new church.
Практично десять років велося будівництво і ось в 2002 році розпочались повноцінні богослужіння в церкві Вознесіння Господнього.
Construction has been going on for almost ten years, and in 2002 full-fledged services began in the Church of the Ascension.
У просторому приміщенні храму, обладнаному балконами може міститися одночасно кілька тисяч чоловік. У підвалі знаходиться сучасний лекційний зал, трапезна, майстерні і т.д. На третьому поверсі храму розташувалися молодіжні організації, а на четвертому - катехизична школа.
The spacious room of the temple, equipped with balconies can accommodate several thousand people at a time. In the basement there is a modern lecture hall, dining room, workshops, etc. Youth organizations are located on the third floor of the church, and a catechetical school is located on the fourth floor.
У будівництві церкви брали участь миряни і меценати, які жертвували на храм хто скільки міг, а також різні організації, наприклад, Львівська залізниця.
Lay people and patrons took part in the construction of the church, who donated as much as they could to the church, as well as various organizations, such as the Lviv Railway.
