Como, salvaguarda de la vida y obra de Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, recientemente recuperé en una subasta, un diario de su pertenencia, fechado 5 años antes de su muerte, cuando residía en el apartado pueblo de “Cathrach Sicín” (traducido del irlandés, como Pueblo Pollo), al noroeste irlandés. Hasta acá todo lo que he relatado resulta muy normal en mis funciones de curador del Museo Conan Doyle.

Lo que me ha quitado el sueño en las ultimas cinco noches, es que leyendo el diario en cuestión, encontré extrañas anotaciones de lo que reconozco es puño y letra de Sir Arthur. Lo titula:

Todo comienza con el descubrimiento de un cadáver sin identificar en una playa remota de Cathrach Sicín, un pueblo altamente conservador debido a su estricta religión mezcla de la tradición druídica con el más ortodoxo anglicanismo.

El cuerpo, arrojado por el mar, se encontró en la posición de un pollo asados, más bien a las brasas por lo quemado que estaba, con evidentes signos de haber sido parte de una explosión. Pero lo más desconcertante y que no tenía explicación, fue el hecho que el cadáver tenía incrustada en su cabeza, el cuello y la cabeza de un pollo, cuyo pico era inconfundible.

Con todos estos detalles macabros, Sir Arthur se suma al equipo investigador en su papel de médico. Sus escritos diarios, revelan toda una red de implicaciones y sospechas, acá les comparto lo que hasta ahora he ido resumiendo de las notas del diario.

Sir Arthur descubrió que oculto tras la fachada de puritanismo anglicano, el sacerdote del pueblo realizaba sacrificios rituales a una oscura deidad druida.

Sacrificios en los que el cadáver pudo ser utilizado como ofrenda. Esta teoría sugiere la existencia de una secta asociada a dichos rituales, donde participaba casi la totalidad de los habitantes del pueblo llevando a cabo prácticas siniestras.

Pero la investigación no paró allí. Sir Arthur descubrió todo un complot, de tráfico de opio, en las que el hijo del sacerdote, (si, los sacerdotes anglicanos se casan y tienen hijos), fungía como lo que en la actualidad conocemos como "Capo". Y que, ante la misteriosa desaparición del joven, sospechaba la posibilidad de un ajuste de cuentas. El cadáver en su brutal presentación sería un mensaje para otros involucrados. Esta teoría sugiere una red clandestina de criminales en el pueblo, operando bajo la protección de la comunidad religiosa.

Pero lo más inquietante y que realmente me ha hecho halarme los cabellos, es la teoría ampliamente sustentada por Sir Arthur, que implica la existencia de una maligna entidad sobrenatural, llamada “POLLON”, descrito como un hombre con cuello y cabeza de pollo, que en vez de brazos tiene las alas de ese animal.

Según esta teoría de Sir Arthur, el cadáver resultó ser el hijo del sacerdote, quien se había unido a una gallina hace unos 24 años, el hijo del sacerdote llegó a ser reconocido como el representante en la tierra de POLLON, pero al verse implicado en el tráfico y consumo de opio, un grupo de creyente se fueron en su contra, asesinándolo, y abriéndole el cráneo, le incrustaron el cuello de un pollo, procediendo luego a asarlo a las brasas en la orilla de la playa para comerlo.

Pero el Dios POLLON en venganza por la herejía, les envió un rayo explosivo que lanzó el cadáver a las profundidades del mar, que lo devolvió días después a la orilla.

Todo esto tan siniestro, me ha dejado sin palabras. por un lado dudando de la cordura de Sir Arthur, por otro pasmado ante la posibilidad de que POLLON exista. Y continúe habitando en ese pueblo irlandés. El pobre San Patricio debe estar revolcándose en su tumba.

As a safeguard of the life and work of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, I recently recovered at auction a diary belonging to him, dated 5 years before his death, when he lived in the remote village of “Cathrach Sicín” (translated from Irish, as Pueblo Pollo), in the northwest of Ireland. But the most disconcerting thing, which had no explanation, was the fact that the corpse had the neck and head of a chicken embedded in its head, whose beak was unmistakable.

With all these macabre details, Sir Arthur joins the investigative team in his role as a doctor. His daily writings reveal a whole network of implications and suspicions. Here I share with you what I have been summarizing so far from the diary notes.

Sir Arthur discovered that hidden behind the façade of Anglican puritanism, the village priest was making ritual sacrifices to an obscure druid deity. In which the corpse could be used as an offering. This theory suggests that Sir Arthur also revealed the existence of a sect associated with these rituals, where all the town's inhabitants participated, carrying out sinister practices.

But the investigation did not stop there. Sir Arthur discovered an entire opium trafficking plot, in which the priest's son, (yes, Anglican priests marry and have children), served as what we currently know as Capo. And that, given the mysterious disappearance of the young man, the possibility of a settling of accounts is suspected. The corpse in his brutal presentation was a message for others involved. This theory suggests an underground network of criminals in the town, operating under the protection of the religious community.

But the most disturbing thing, and what has really made me pull my hair out, is the theory widely supported by Sir Arthur, which implies the existence of an evil supernatural entity, called "POLLON", described as a man with the neck and head of a chicken. that instead of arms it has chicken wings.

According to this theory of Sir Arthur, the corpse turned out to be the son of the priest, who had united with a chicken about 24 years ago, the son was recognized as the representative on the land of POLLON, But seeing himself involved in the trafficking and consumption of opium, a group of believers went against him, murdering him, opening his skull, they embedded the neck of a chicken in him and proceeded to roast him over embers on the shore of the beach and proceed to eat it.

All this sinister stuff has left me speechless, doubting Sir Arthur's sanity, or stunned by the possibility that POLLON exists. And continue living in that Irish town. Saint Patrick must be rolling in his grave.
