I am not a fan of pranks but sometimes we just get caught in the middle of it especially when we have a prankster ar as a friend or a family member. I have friends who loves to prank their friends for fun and they always got me because they always sounded very real, so real that it becomes difficult for me to differentiate lies from truth.

That successfully influenced me and deep down in my heart, I thought I had become a prankster too because of the Yoruba saying that when a leaf stays too long on a soap, it becomes soap as well.
I started feeling like I had known every trick about pranking people so I used my boyfriend as my first specimen while preparing for my final exams. I thought deeply about what I could use as a prank and something popped up so I texted him about being pregnant.
He started calling me immediately but I didn't pick up because my voice wasn't trained enough to pull such a heavy prank. Finally one of my friends came in at that time so I gave her details and she picked up the call instead.
She played her part well and made it clear that I had been vomiting plus I missed my period. He responded so calmly and I was impressed.
Later that day, he sent some money that I should get some fruits and even provisions which impressed me. I am not surprised because I know he loves me wholeheartedly. He called again and I picked up the call, he said it happened at a good time since I was preparing for my final paper.
"I still have my project, I still have NYSC," I replied.
"You can leave service, I promise you won't regret it," he replied.
Everything he did after I broke the pregnancy news to him made me happy, I couldn't stop thinking about having the best man in the world.
"What if he starts acting up after? What if he is pretending?" I thought about it and decided to continue the prank for a whole week. He called me more and sent me money just to buy fruits.
I got bored of the whole thing and decided to tell him the truth but the unexpected happened.
"Hello babe, I told Mom and Dad about the pregnancy. They were angry at first but they couldn't say no to it because I told them how much you mean to me," My boyfriend texted me while I was still planning to tell him it was all a prank.
My heart raced badly because my boyfriend's parents are friends of my parents and they both hold important positions in the mosque.
"Why? Why did you tell them without my consent?" I screamed at him.
"I want us to keep it, this will be your first pregnancy and our first fruit," he replied and I burst into tears.
He must have thought his word made me emotional, it did but I was crying because my dad would be mad at me. After all, I could have just waited to finish everything that had to do with school.
"I am not pregnant, it was a prank," I replied him and he sounded angry.
I was trying to apologize when he ended the call and didn't talk to me throughout that day. While trying to beg him, I was scared my parents would call me at any time and it made me restless.
I wasn't myself and my boyfriend wasn't helping matters. Two days passed, my parent called and said nothing but I was still worried because it was just a matter of time before his parents and mine met at Jumaat.
The pressure on me was much and I decided to tell my mom about the prank but my boyfriend told me not to bother because he didn't tell his parent anything. He suspected that I was pranking him so he played along just to hit back at me and he got me completely.
Things settled and we promised not to prank each other again but I don't intend to keep the promise. I am still looking for how to revenge, it's just a matter of time before I get him too.
